Beautiful Love
I used to not believe in love. Didn't believe in unconditinal, eternal, or forgiving love, just none at all. But all that changed when I saw them. Who?, you may be asking. My neighbors that's who. Allow me to tell you the story.
It happened one night at about nine. I was standing on the bed of my father's truck, and he was on the inside of the truck, fixing something. I was staring, very angrily, may I say, at the ground. It was the end of spring, almost summer, but that night was kind of chilly. I wrapped my arms around myself, trying to loose the goosebumps that had formed on my arms. I looked up at the at the sky, the moon, and the stars beyond. From the corner of my eye, I saw something move; just a flash, a blur of a white shirt. I went to investigate, jumping off the bed, and hiding behind the walls of my house. I leaned my head to the side, trying to see if there was actually something out there, or if my head was messing with me. And I saw it. It was my neighbors, probably in their early or mid-thirties. She is beautiful, but the type of woman that you can see over and over again, yet never really remember seeing her. And he... Well, he is an attractive man, the type that most women go coo-coo over.
I saw it. I saw the way he took her smooth face into both of his large hands, and rubbed the tip of his thumbs over the top of her cheek bones. And even from afar, though I had to squint through the dark, I saw her eyes sparkling with joy, and the beautiful smile that played on her face. I saw the way that his eyes never left her face. I saw the way she had to look up at him, for he is several inches taller. And I saw the way he took a step closer to her, leaned down one or two inches, and lightly, lightly, touched his lips to the top of her forehead. "What a gentleman," I thought to myself, for I have always said that the sweetest kiss out there is the kiss on the forehead.
A smile creeped on my face, and I knew that I was intruding, but I couldn't walk away. I felt like I was in a lovely trance. I saw her wrap her arms around his waist, and he hugged her back. She stepped back a little, looked up at him, stood on her tiptoes, and pressed her lips to his. Then, suddenly, and without notice, a laugh escaped my lips. They heard me and looked to where I was hiding. I stepped out of my hiding place and shyly waved at them. I knew I had ruined their beautiful moment. They both smiled and the woman said,"Hey there."
"Hey," I mustered.
I must've looked embarrassed because she said, "You're fine." She grinned.
"I have to go," I said, taking a step back. I waved and disappeared into my house.
That night, I couldn't fall asleep. That moment kept playing and replaying in my head. The way her eyes sparkled, and the way he looked at her. I was dumbstruck... I had never seen a more beautiful love. That moment made me believe. Believe that love exsist. Believe that there can be someone out there who can actually love me. Believe that there can be someone who will treat me like a princess. And it also made me desire. Desire someone to look at me like he looked at her. Desire to have someone kiss my forehead with such sweetness. It made me desire beautiful love, just like theirs.
