Chapter Twenty
"What?" Ansela sat up in bed;her back resting against the pillow that had been propped up behind her back, so she could rest more comfortably. "He asked you to do all this?"
Amelia zoomed the image on her I-pad so she could see it clearly. "Yes. But I'm more worried about how Kaden would react when he finds out."
"Then he better not find out." Ansela frowned at the image on the screen. "Did he say that he did not meet her at the shop?"
"Yes." Amelia pressed the home button, then the power button.
"We have to think of something. I..." Ansela paused when she heard voices coming towards the door. "I think someone's coming."
The door opened; Kaden and Cassie walked in arguing over something. Ansela winked at Amelia who returned it before turning around to face them with a smile on her face.
"Mr Mckade." Amelia nodded in greeting to him.
Kaden frowned at Amelia when he got to the bed. "What are you doing here?"
It was no news that his sister and PA were seeing each other more than necessary. And Kaden knew that wherever Ansela is concerned, there's always mischief. He just hoped that Amelia would be wise enough not to tango with his ever mischievous sister.
"I heard about what happened to miss Mckade,so I decided to drop by and say hello."
"Annie how are you?"
Ansela knew that if she uttered a word, her voice would give her away. Cassie might realise that she's Josie and that would cause more trouble. She cringed inwardly when Kaden jabbed a finger at her bad ankle, which was covered in a caste.
Kaden was about to ask her another question but Amelia, thankfully, interceded.
"Dr. Greene said that she's not allowed to talk because of her still sore lungs."
"Oh." Kaden caressed her hair affectionately. "See what I brought you." He collected the basket from Cassie, who had moved closer to the bed. "Cassie here says that it's... cantalia?"
"Catalina." Cassie supplied.
"Miss Cinderella from downtown." Amelia smiled at Cassie, who frowned at her in return.
"My name is Cassie." She turned to Ansela with a smile. "It's beautiful, isn't it?" She smiled when Ansela nodded. "My father planted a lot of it when he was alive. I've always loved the midnight blue and yellow colour. The fragrance is also soothing and refreshing."
Amelia sniffed the air with a smile on her face. "You're right. I'd like one of those."
"Sadly this is the last one. But I assure you that you'd be the first person to know when I have a new one.
"I'm Cassie by the way, we have met before, but I was to busy fending off someone to introduce my self properly."
"I believe that someone was me." Kaden frowned at her. "You called me a manwhore,in the presence of my whole staff."
"I did that only because I was right."
"You also called me an asshole."
"A very suiting name, if I do say so myself." Cassie smirked. "Or would you prefer Asswipe to Asshole?"
Ansela saw Kaden's chest puff and then she knew that if someone didn't do anything soon, shit's going to go down real fast. She gestured to Amelia to do something.
"Sir." Amelia called to Kaden who was glaring at Cassie as if she just threw down the gauntlet and he was ready to pick it.
"What?!" They shouted at her.
Amelia flinched inwardly. "You said you were going to show miss Cinderella from downtown the pent-house today, didn't you?"
"My name is Cassie, not Cinderella from downtown."
"You're right."
They said simultaneously.
Kaden ignored the look Cassie was giving him, instated he dropped a kiss on Ansela's head, then he placed the basket on the shelf beside the bed.
"I'll drop in to see you later in the evening."
Ansela nodded. She waited until they were out of sight and earshot, before letting out a very loud squeal, which earned a questioning look from Amelia.
"I'm soooo Excited." She squealed again.
"You're scared them, that's no fun at all." Amelia adjusted her glasses. "You would surely meet your match one day."
"My match?" Ansela snorted. "No one's a match for me."
"Your parent would be mad if they find out about what you're doing."
"What's she doing?"
Holy Kamoly. Ansela went still at her mother's voice.
Help me dear lord.
~*~*~*~
Kaden stepped out of the elevator and didn't bother waiting for Cassie who was still fuming about their exchange in the hospital. The Ride to the penthouse, located off the I-75, was a silent as the cemetery.
He was angry at her too. How did she get to call him names other girls would not even dream of calling him and yet still get away with it? And why does she get under his skin every time they meet.
Stopping at entrance, he produced the keys and unlocked the door. Without waiting to see if she followed him or not,he headed for kitchen. He tossed the keys on the table as he went.
He didn't want to break the silence first so,he opened the fridge and grabbed one of the bottle waters Amelia had stocked up in the fridge along with other things. Kaden felt grateful that he had asked her to stock the whole place up yesterday.
Cassie followed him to the kitchen, her anger dissolved when she saw him drinking water directly from the bottle. Her own throat bobbed along with his Adams apple as he gulped the water down.
No man should make water drinking look so erotic and sexy. Yet Kaden managed to make it look that way. Desire coiled low in her belly and her nipples puckered.
You're getting all hot at the sight of a male drinking water from a bottle? You're definitely loosing it Cassie.
Only that Kaden was not just any man. He was a manwhore and...and... He was sexy as sin.
"Quit staring at me like some fresh steak."
His voice snapped her out of her half-drool, half-panting state. Schooling her features to normal, she cleared her throat and folded her arms across her breast; afraid that he would detect her hardened nipples.
"I was not staring at you." She faked a scoff. "I was merely admiring the flower pot over there." Without looking at where or what was behind him,she pointed.
Kaden half turned towards what she was pointing at. A low chuckle escaped him when he faced her. "Really?"
"Yes, of cou..." The rest trailed off when she saw what she pointed at.
A dustbin.
Kaden's laughter became full-blown at the look of shock on her face. "I guess a garbage basket is worth salivating at."
Even Cassie smiled a little at her own stupidity. At least he didn't know that she had been ogling him.
"If we're going to be working together for five years, I think we need to call an Armistice." Cassie cleared her throat.(A new found habit, that happens when ever Kaden was present).
Kaden replaced the cap of the half filled bottle water, while gazing at her in Turmoil.
"A truce." She grinned. "So much for going to school overseas."
Kaden grinned back. "At least,I got to make new friends."
"Yeah, right." She rolled her eyes. "Will you show me around while we discuss that Truce?"
"A pleasure to be your tour guide," he tipped her his imaginary hat."we'll discuss the truce after the tour. You'd have to apologize for calling me Manwhore."
"Whatever."
Cassie loved the house and the furnishings. Everything in the house;from the indoor pool to the outdoor pool, the two large parlours, the wide kitchen, the sunroom, the library and gym room was beautiful and modern.
There were five rooms in total, two down stairs and three rooms was upstairs. They had toured four out of the fives rooms and most of them were painted green. Cassie made a mental note to buy paint and change the colours, she hated green.
They were about to enter the last room when Kaden excused himself to receive a call,so Cassie entered the room alone. This one room was different from the rest. Instead of the usual green colour, this one was off white and black. The king sized bed was black and was covered with black sheets. The room was so far,the biggest room in the whole house.
It had Italian touchings to it and it was simple yet breathtakingly beautiful. It had it's own en-suite bathroom,walk-in closet, balcony facing the busy I-75, which was nothing but a tiny peck in the far-away distance. As she made her way back to the room, she decided that the place needs flowers to make it look more lively.
Ella was going to love it here.
Suddenly happy, she toed off her shoes before jumping, face down, a the bed with a loud squeal. The covers felt soft and even the foam was soft.
She groaned in appreciation as she rolled on her back. She almost leaped off the bed when she saw Kaden standing at the foot of the bed,his eyes regarding her warily.
"One would think that you're doing something else if they heard you groaning like that."
Cassie swallowed nervously when his green eyes watched her with keen interest. She sat up in bed aware of the fact that the temperature in the room had risen to higher degrees.
"We're the only ones here." She replied, her voice coming out as husky.
In the name of all that's sweet, get a grip girl! Her mind screamed at her.
If that wasn't a come and get me line, then Kaden didn't know what it is. And oh, how much he wanted to reach out and drag her to him, how much he wanted to tear that dungaree and blue blouse off her,how much he wanted to bury himself so deep in her that....
"We should leave." Cassie said, when her eyes zeroed in on his evident arousal.
"We should." He agreed.
Only that none of them moved. In fact, they seemed to move closer to each other. Somehow, Cassie found herself on her back with Kaden towering above her,his eyes burning deep into hers.
There was no mistaking the fire in them. Cassie was sure that her own desire mirrored his. It has been long since she had had sex with any body, so maybe that's why she was reacting to him like this. She was sure that after this, she would not desire him again.
"This is a million ways wrong." Kaden murmured as her kissed the side of her mouth.
"So so wrong." She agreed as she angled her head to catch his lips but he moved his mouth to her earlobe. A groan of frustration escaped her lips.
"We shouldn't be doing this." Kaden said again a he licked and bit her earlobe.
"No we shouldn't." She purred.
"We should leave right now." His hand moved lower to cup her breast through the dungarees.
Cassie cried out as desire shot through her. "Enough talking, dammit!"
She reached up and yanked his head down to her own. She devoured his lips with renewed fervour. Kaden met her tongue for tongue, teeth for teeth and lips for lips.
As much as Cassie knew that this was wrong, as much as she wanted him to stop, as much as she told herself she hated him. She couldn't, for the life of her, ask him to stop.
She'd have a lot of regrets later.
Bit for now,she thought, just for now...
