William sat down on the bench placed at the end of the ICU,where Ansela had been wheeled off to. It's been well over an hour and there was no sign of the doctor or any nurse coming out of the ICU.

He stood up and tucked his hand in the pocket of his jeans. As he paced to and fro,his parents watched him with worried expression on their faces. William felt as if he was responsible for what happened to Ansela.

If only he was at home and not at Cassie's,maybe it wouldn't have come to this.

Ansela had been breathing difficultly when they arrived at the hospital. William,in his twenty-nine years on earth, has never see anyone breath difficultly or have a swollen ankle from the flu. Which made William realise that something else not the flu, happened to his sister.

"Son."

William looked over his shoulder to see his father standing behind him. He stopped pacing and turned to face Steven.

"You need to stop pacing,you are making your mother more worried than before." Steven gestured to where Arabella was sitting,her pain evident on her face.

William sighed. "I want to comfort her,but I can't. I'm not even in my right mind now,but I'll....." He trailed off when he saw the doctor who had gone in with Ansela,standing at the entrance.

The three of them met him halfway, just as the doctor removed his head covering. William allowed his eyes to travel the length of him and saw flecks of blood on the green paper coverings of his shoes. Annie's blood, he knew instinctively.

"What happened to Annie?"

"How is she?"

"Is she alright?"

The doctor blinked at the questions they all fired at him. He cleared his throat as he tucked his hand into the pocket of his green scrubs.

"I am doctor Greene," The doctor said."Miss Mckade is unconscious at the moment and I can't assure you that she's out of danger yet. Her fibula,that is the outer bone of the two bones between the knee and ankle,has shifted a bit from it's position. Which means that she would have be in a wheel chair until her bone is back to it's position."

"Is that why she fainted?" William inquired.

"Miss Mckade inhaled Ethylene and it went straight to her brain and lungs." Dr Greene shook his head. "It blocked her lungs and went into her brain. We had to operate on her lungs so she could breath. After series of test we discovered that Miss Mckade has a very weak heart. Her pulse was failing and thank God you brought her in on time."

Or she would have died.

Tension hung in the air at the unspoken word. William fisted his hands at his side as guilt and anger consumed him. He hitched to hit something or someone.

"That girl is so stupid." Steve grunted."what did she do? Drink the Ethylene?"

William roared and punched the wall behind him. Blood coated the wall from the several cuts in his hand. "Shut the hell up father!"

Steven narrowed his eyes at William who was leaning against the wall with his injured hand still on the wall. Arabella gasped at the sight of the blood dripping on the floor.

"William." Arabella rushed to his side but was careful enough not to touch him. "Are you alright? My God look at you,you're bleeding!"

"First Ansela and now you?" Steven scoffed. "Who's next? Kaden? I've had enough trouble in my lifetime and you children want to give me another one?"

William whirled around his eyes flashing with anger. "You are the reason why Annie is where she is right now. If you had not sent her upstairs last night,we wouldn't even be having this conversation right now. If something happens to Annie," William walked over to where his father was standing. "You'll have me to deal with."

"Mr Mckade,your hand is bleeding" Dr Greene stepped between them. "You all need to rest,Mr Mckade come with me,you won't be able to take care of your sister if you get infected and this is a hospital.

"Mr Mckade," he faced Steven." I think you should take your wife home. You can't see miss Mckade right now."

"When would we see her?" Arabella eyed both William and Kaden who were still glaring at each other. "Cut that out,would you? Annie is not feeling well and y'all are acting like kids? Kaden is not even aware that she's not feeling well."

"I'll take Mr Mckade with me,I suggest you take him home too." Dr Greene told Arabella. "Mr Mckade?"

"Lead the way." William said.

Dr Greene nodded to Arabella as he and William walked down the hall.

William threw the ICU room a glance before following Dr Greene.

She better be alright.

Kaden pushed away from Cassie,when Skylar turned and stormed out of the office.

"Sky." He went after her and caught her by the elevator,where she stood hitting the button frantically. "Sky."

"Don't fucking touch me!" She slapped his hand away and reached for the button once more,but she didn't make it because Kaden grabbed her arm and wheeled her around. "Let go."

"Sky, I'm sorry."

"You're sorry?" She scoffed as tears cascaded down her cheeks,ruining her perfect make-up. "I caught you kissing that Cinderella and all I get is I'm sorry?"

"Let me explain, wha--"

"I don't need a fucking explanation." Sky snatched her arm from his grip. "It's over between us. I don't ever want to see you again. And take this useless thing,will you?"

Kaden stood transfixed as Skylar removed the ring he gave her for their engagement and threw it at him. "We're so over. You can fuck the whole world for all I care."

The elevator opened and Skylar rushed inside. The doors closed and the elevator ascended, taking Skylar away from his life forever.

The woman I love has left me for good.

Kaden retrieved the green and red crystal ring from the floor. He tucked it into the inner pocket of his jacket and turned to go back to his office,only to receive a sharp and loud slap on his face and because he was not expecting it,his head whipped to the side and he staggered a bit from the impact.

"How dare you?" Cassie demanded from him. "How dare you kiss me when you have a fiance? Am I some joke to you or what?"

Kaden gritted his teeth in anger. His hands balled into fist to prevent him from rubbing his throbbing cheek with his hand.

"How dare I?" He said through gritted teeth. "You could have pushed me away instead you kissed me back,And now I am the guilty one?"

"You're right." Cassie balanced the box on her right arm. "And I regret that I kissed you back. And I want to assure you that it won't happen again."

Kaden stepped aside for her when she gestured for him to move out of the way with her head. Cassie brushed past him without another word. Unlike Skylar,the elevator door opened at once and Cassie stepped inside it.

"See you later,Mr Mckade." Cassie said as she reached for the 'G' button.

"Miss Milton."

Kaden sighed when he turned and saw Amelia staring at him with pity and concern. He gave her a lopsided smile,before going into his office.

What now? He asked the blue sky,when he got to the tall glass window overlooking the I-75 and I-76.

As if to answer his question,Amelia walked into his office looking very worried.

"What is it?" He asked her without turning around.

"Your father called sir."

"About what?"

"Your sister sir." Amelia sniffed.

"What about Annie?" He faced her with a worried look on his face.

"She's in ICU in the family hospital."

Life is a fucking bitch.

With a loud growl Kaden pushed everything on his desk to the floor. Before sitting on the floor in the mess.

"This is so fucked up." He got up on his feet then ran out of the office.

Amelia moved to the side so he won't collide with her.

As she watched him take the lift,she whispered. "Life is fucked up."
