Why letters?

I had this story in my mind ever since ALMaS ended but there were two problems

a) the graphics which were involved. I knew I would suck at describing them ngl.

b) the fact that story comprised of such a huge timeline. I had absolutely no idea what to do about it.

Hence the letter narrative format. It is my first book in this format, and I think I put it up in a pretty decent manner.

Why did Misha leave?

Although the reason is pretty clear, but to sum it all up I would say - her relationship with Virat didn't define her. She was a part of it. But due to all the circumstances she was put under, the only source of happiness she had was Virat.

Misha is a pretty-strong headed yet emotional person. She knew Virat made her happy but she wanted to be happy all by herself. She didn't mind if he made her happier than she is. So she leaves him, detaches herself from him. Over-dependency over someone can be real toxic tbh.

Also in the long run, their relationship would've doomed if she wouldn't have left. Virat would naturally get busy with his career, resulting in Misha sulking alone. Too much tension that way. So I think this was the best way to conclude the story.

Any alternate ending in mind?

I think this may sound a little absurd but yes I did have one in mind. The "I thought this will happen, it's so uncliche" thing was my alternate ending. Misha and Virat would've been friends and moved on with two different people.

It's rather weird how I came up with this one but I felt they deserved an endgame together for sticking by each other so long! And also my "inky ponky" was in favour of this end. 😂

Why cancer in this story too? 😒

The reason for introducing it in this story too was because Misha needed a strong breakdown to make her mentally prepared for the future incident. I would never want to show a rape victim trying to commit suicide because that's not she deserves, rather that would be the asshole's victory. I think it was important to show how expose Misha that raw for a better understanding of the situation when she's all grown up.

Also, because of personal experiences. 💔 This year has been the toughest one for me.

Why letters before new year?

We've this tradition at home where we write our family members letters stating how they changed our life this year or the good memories with them. It's a memoir. It's a lovely experience, and I think that's what inspired me to pull off this story.

One song for the entire book?

Breathe by Taylor Swift and Colbie Caillat. That song suits this book so well plus the feels. 😭❤️
