"Hey Adam?"

"Yeah Chris?"

"Here's the pamphlet you wanted." he says handing me the folded up paper.

"Thank you so much Chris. Did Austin manage to convince Tim to go?"

"It took almost two hours but he finally caved into going."

"That's good. We honestly both need help. I'm so happy I found those pamphlets."

"Same here."

Chris's younger brother Adam has finally decided to take control of his life. Adam has been abusing OxyContin ever since he left college around age 25. Being the well educated man that he is, Adam wanted to get clean but just couldn't find it in himself to rid himself with the heavy burden.

When Adam first started, he wanted to keep it on the donw-low so his brother wouldn't find out. But that didn't last long. Two years after starting, Chris catches Adam injecting himself with something he didn't recognize. Immediately getting on his case, Chris has been watching Adam's every move ever since.

It wasn't until around Adam's 30th birthday thingd went downhill. Adam was in a coma for about a week after he passed out and hit his head dangerously hard on the ground. He scared all of his friends and brother half to death.

It was at that moment Adam knew.....he fucked up.

Badly.

He tried so hard to quit by reducing the amount he put into his body. It worked but not enough to do on his own. He needed some form of outside help. Some kind of therapy. 

He was finishing up from his doctor's appointment one day when his doctor suggested something about a substance recovery group coming up very soon. His doctor gave Adam the pamphlet and the smile thsy came across Adam's face showed nothing but pure joy. He knew that both he and his friend Tim needed help.

He thought that it would be a great way for him and Tim to connect more as friends. But what the others don't know is that Adam has a small crush on the deep-voiced country man. What the others really don't know is that Tim's past relationship with his ex-girlfriend, Jenika, was the ultimate peak of the (secretly amazing) beatboxer's addiction. It wasn't until after they broke up Adam started to get more control of his life.

He wanted to get clean just for Tim.

He was determined.

"Chris, let's just hope that Tim can stop being ignorant for just a few months so he can get a better grip on his life."

"I agree Adam. But let's not forget that you've had your fair share of ignorant moments while you were high off of that shit you were injecting into yourself." Chris laughs.

This is why I love my brother. He can scold me and laugh with me at the same time. Because even I knew that I was a hard-headed little shit to deal with. I cannot tell you how much I hate having to put Chris through all of this. He's been my support system ever since he found out I wanted to get clean.

"Hey Chris, can I tell you something?"

The pure amount of concern in his eyes were evident. "What's up Adam?"

"I just want to tell you thank you for all of the times you've been there for me. I cannot tell you enough times how lucky I am to have you as my older brother. Just....thank you Chris. I love ya man." I smile through my teary blue eyes. Light tears start to make their way down my face as he comes to embrace me in his arms.

"I love you too Adam. And I cannot tell you how proud I am of you. You're being the bigger person in your situation and admitting you have a problem. That's the first step of many to the road of recovery. All you need to have is a great support system and don't give into temptation. That's how many people relapse nowadays. Temptation got the better of them and they failed to help themselves...unlike you will. You can beat this Adam. I'm 100% confident in you."
