Chapter 5: College Dropout
Brielle's P.O.V.
After I discovered that that little prick stole my diary, I was pissed, to say the least. I kinda went home and threw things. I broke my desk, which made me sad. I liked that desk. My mom made me go to school today. So here I am, walking to class. My first class is some weird, person anatomy thing. We sit at tables with another person, and the teacher has a huge desk in the front. There are skeletons everywhere and diagrams and 3D models of stuff. Needless to say, I'm failing this class.
When I sat down, my partner looked at me. He's a super nerd, and I don't even know his name. He knows mine, though.
"Brielle, what are you doing here?" he asked.
I just looked at him. "I go to school here," I said blankly.
He flushed before speaking again. "I know... I just thought you were in jail."
The honesty of this comment has me gaping like a fish. I didn't even reply before the teacher walked in. Her name was Professor Burns. I hated her with a passion.
"Settle down, class," she said. Her eyes fixed on me. "Ah, look, we have out little... delinquent back."
I flushed as all eyes turned to me. The nerd next to me scooted his chair away.
"So how was jail?" Professor Burns asked.
In that moment, I was royally pissed off. It's one thing to have my classmates call me a murderer, but my own teacher does not have the right. She smirked at me before turning to the board. "Alright, class, today we are going to start talking about the brain."
My chair screeched as I pushed it back and climbed on my desk. Professor Burns turned around and gaped when she saw me on the desk.
"You know what?" I said loudly, making sure everyone in that room was looking at me. "It was great. In fact," I jumped onto the desk in front of me and kicked all the books to the floor. "I'm going back there after school."
I jumped on desks until I made it to the teacher's desk. Everyone was watching me now. I pushed a mini-skeleton off of her desk and grinned at the whole class. "Jail was wonderful! I made so many new friends! I might actually bring them in to meet all of you! Oh wait," I paused and looked confused. "I never went to jail!"
Everyone looked really scared of me now. I have to admit, I kind of liked the feeling. I jumped onto the floor and walked over to a full size skeleton. "This is my brother, guys."
I pushed the skeleton over and threw another one at the board. My teacher screamed as she ducked out of the way and ran to the back of the classroom. "Oh look, I killed the skeleton like I didn't kill my brother!" I said.
Everyone looked confused. "Oh, you didn't know?" I asked mockingly. "News flash, I didn't kill him. I don't know who did, but it wasn't me. And you know what else? I don't want to be a doctor," I flipped over Professor Burns' desk. All of her stuff flew everywhere. I looked straight at my teacher. "Call me a delinquent one more time," I warned then threw one more skeleton. "I quit!"
And with that, I stormed out of the classroom, onto the grounds, where I collapsed under a tree and laughed.
After I sat there a while, I recovered. I probably just got kicked out of college, but I don't care. It was worth seeing their faces. As soon as I pictured their faces again, I started laughing. I was still laughing as a girl walked up to me. I quickly stifled my giggles.
"Hi, it's Brielle, right?" the girl asked. She was tall, taller than me, and she had long brown hair and brown eyes. I was envious.
I nodded warily. "Yeah, why?"
"Well, I'm new here, but everyone told me about you. They told me to stay away from you because you killed your brother," she said.
"And?" I said. I wasn't in the mood to be accused again.
"Well, I don't believe them. I saw you in class. That was hilarious. I don't think I've ever seen a professor more terrified in my life. I'm just trying to say, I believe you," the girl finished, rather breathlessly, I notice.
"What's your name?" I asked.
The girl's smile widened and she sat down next to me. "I'm Adeline, nice to meet you."
"Adeline," I said. "Nice to meet you. That's a pretty name."
"Thanks,' Adeline said. "But most people call me Addie. It's just easier, I suppose."
"Most people call me Bri," I said, shrugging. "But I like my name. It's pretty."
"Yeah, it is," Adeline said. "And it's French, like mine! We can be French buddies!"
We high-fived and I couldn't help but think that Addie was alright. I mean, she did believe me, and something about her perkiness made me feel happier too.
"Did you see Professor Burns' face?" I asked, trying not to laugh.
"Yeah! It was hilarious! I thought she was going to pee herself!" Addie chuckled.
The conversation of my/ our teacher's face carried us all the way to my next class. And as I walked to class, Addie next to me, I couldn't help but think that maybe life didn't suck after all.
What do you guys think? Do you like the idea of Brielle getting a friend? Did you laugh during this chapter? I know I did! :)
Picture is Addie/Adeline by the way
