He searched for the gift in the counter where he had placed it. He searched everywhere in the reception but couldn't find it. He asked one of the receptionist, "excuse me, did you see a parcel here, I have just placed it in the counter before leaving to pediatric ward" he asked her. "No doctor, is it something important? May I know what is it?" she asked so that she could ask someone to help him. "Yes, it has.." he was about to say but didn't feel like saying thinking about Nandini. "Nothing important" he said and left from there annoyed.

He is disappointed and saw Alya and Abhimanyu coming towards him. "Hey Manik! What's up?" Abhimanyu asked him. "You said you are taking an off today, aunty ka birthday hai na?" Alya asked him. "Koi emergency tha kya?" Abhimanyu asked and Manik nodded in yes without talking anything. "Abhimanyu, you're gonna drop me today home right?" she asked him. "Sorry Alya, I know I have promised you but I got an emergency, Manik, can you drop Alya home?" he asked as he remembered that he has to be with Raman, Ishitha and Ruhi.

"Yeah sure" he said. "Alya, get your discharge sheets filled as early as possible, we need to go soon" he said disheartened. Aryaman, Cabir and Navya talked to Nandini. "Nandini, we're sorry please hume maaf karo na" Cabir asked with a puppy face. "How can I be angry for so long on you guys, you know me?" she smiled. "Nandini ne smile kiya matlab hume maafi mil gaye" Navya said. "Ab tum aa sakti ho madam" Aryaman said and everyone looked at the door and Sanju came out.

"I said na, she will definitely forgive you" Nandini looked at her confused. "Hi, I'm Sanjana" she introduced herself and Nandini widened her eyes. "I'm Aryaman's friend" she continued. "FRIEND?" Nandini stressed on the word. "Arre yaar, ye humara trustee Sanjana hai, wahi jo Mukti ma'am ne bola, she also helped in arranging your birthday and she also told that you'll talk to us" he said. "It's okay Aryaman, I didn't ask anything" they all laughed seeing Aryaman. Sanjana felt embarrassed and changed the topic. "Nandini, ye lo" she handed a box to her. "Tumne Nandini ke liye gift bhi layi hai" Cabir asked Sanjana. "Don't tell me that you went out" Aryaman asked scared. "No, I didn't get that, ye waha reception mein pada hua hai, tumhara naam likha hua hai, so I got it" she said.

"Gift aisa kaun deta hai?" Navya wondered. "I know tumhi ho na ye gift laya meri liye" Nandini asked them. "No Nandini, humse tum gifts expect kar rahi ho? Hum gareeb log hai, tum party do bas khayenge piyenge but gifts nahi denge" Cabir joked. "Nandini, no we didn't get this, both the boys were with me since morning they didn't buy anything, I swear" she said. "Sanju ye tum hi layi ho na?" Aryaman asked. "Guys, I saw this box in the reception it fell down and everyone was in haste. I thought of putting it there but Nandini's name was there so I got here" she said.

Alya, Abhimanyu and Manik came to common room. "Hey everyone" Alya greeted. "I'm getting discharged today" she announced. "Chalo hum ye reception mein hi rakhenge, pata nahi kiske liye tha ye?" Nandini said. "Why are you keeping this in reception" Alya asked her. "Huh, Sanjana found this pack fell down at the reception, she got it from there." Nandini said to Alya and Manik widened his eyes in horror. "So Sanjana was the one who got my gift here! How it might have fell down" he thought but didn't let anyone know. "So why are you keeping it back? Jo bhi diya hoga its for you" Manik interfered and said. "But I don't know what's in this? not even I know if it is for me" she said.

"Oh god! Main isse kaise samjhao?" he thought. "First open it, isme kya hoga hum dekhlenge, maybe we can find out who gave it" Abhimanyu suggested. "Chalo, pehli baar tum mujhe help kiya anjaane mein hi sahi" Manik thought and smiled himself. Nandini teared the wrapper. "Dheere se Nandini, there might be a bomb" Cabir said. "Ha, tum log tho most wanted ho na, koi bomb kyu lagayenge" Sanju said. "Cabir, please yeah, mujhe mat darao" Nandini is also little scared seeing the mysterious gift. Manik wished that she should like the gift. She opened the box and found something soft.

"Guys, it's a saree" Nandini announced. She remembered shopping for the same black Kanjivaram saree two days back. "I just shopped for this saree two days back" she said happily and placed the saree on her shoulder. "Tho ye shop se parcel tha kya Nandini, bekar mein dara hi diya tumne" Abhimanyu said. "But, I didn't buy it, the shopkeeper said he doesn't have it" she said. "Wait, I went shopping with Nyonika aunty, maybe she had sent it" she told. "Mom? No, she didn't send it" Manik tried deliberately to stop Nandini. "Ek baar tu call karke pooch lena aunty se, confusion clear ho jayega na?" Abhimanyu said.

"Yeah, that's a good idea" Nandini said and called Nyonika who said that she didn't send any gift. Everyone except Manik got impatient thinking who has sent it to her. She also enquired her chacha and chachi whose answer was also a No. Mukti came there and she came to know about the saree. She also wondered about the gift. "Nandini, none of us knew who gave it, I think you shouldn't do this, I'm saying it for your safety, baaki tumhara marzi" she suggested. "Yes ma'am, you're right" Nandini said and put the saree aside. Mukti ne Manik ki mehnat par pani phek diya. She dismissed the discussion and asked everyone to disperse to their respective works.

Manik is again disappointed. He had arranged everything so well but luck wasn't in his favor that day. He had called one of his friends who has a textile shop and specially ordered the saree for her. He came to knew that none of the shops has that color of saree in Kanjivaram sarees. He patiently waited for the delivery. He wished Nandini should take it.

Raman got Ruhi to the hospital from the boarding school. "Daddy aap mujhe hospital kyu le aaya?" she asked him. "Papa ko tumhara help chahiye, general medical tests karwana hai tumko, there are many children who doesn't get it done. I should tell them na, see my baby Ruhi is so brave and got all the tests done" she smiled and asked about Ishitha. Raman thought that if Mukti see Ruhi, she will ask about her, so he called Abhimanyu. "Hey beautiful" Abhimanyu said to Ruhi. "Hello doctor" Ruhi wished. "You go with uncle, papa ko kuch kaam hai, I will come later" Raman excused himself.

Abhimanyu said that everything is ready for Ruhi's test. Ruhi says that she will get tested. Raman asks Ishitha not to meet Ruhi until the tests are done. Abhimanyu anaesthetized Ruhi and takes her blood sample. Ishitha meets Raman and asks about Ruhi. Abhimanyu comes there and said that Ruhi is fine and he collected samples. Manik sees Abhimanyu with Ishitha and Raman. Abhimanyu sends the sample to lab and comes to his cabin. Manik comes there.

"Hey Manik! Tum abhi tak gaya nahi?" he asked. "Cabir is still working on Alya's discharge sheet, it might take an hour" he said. "Let me ask you something, you might have heard about Dr. Shrivastav's affair..." Manik hesitated to discuss. "Yes, I've heard of it, Dr. Shrivastav has an affair with Dr. Ishitha" Abhimanyu said coolly. "Is it true? I mean I have seen you with both of them many a times" he said. "Sahi hai, they have a daughter even, Ruhi, bahut pyari bachi hai wo" he said. "What? Does Mukti knew this?" Manik is shocked. "No, she doesn't know. Raman sir ko bolna chahiye tha Mukti se" Abhimanyu continued, "Dr. Ishitha is Raman sir's wife." Manik surprised. "They're married, ye kab hua?" he asked.

"Relax, Raman sir ki first wife ko bachche nahi hua tho Ishitha ma'am ko surrogate bana liya. She gave birth to Mukti and then his first wife suspected Raman sir having an affair with Ishitha ma'am and she committed suicide. Mukti developed a kind of hatred for Ishitha ma'am and believed that she killed her mother" he continued, "Later Raman sir helped her to study medicine and then married her due to societal pressures but Mukti doesn't know about their marriage or her little sister Ruhi. Now Ishitha ma'am is diagnosed with cancer, so bone marrow transplantation ke liye Ruhi ke blood samples liya tha aaj" Manik is shocked to know all this from Abhimanyu.

"Ye sab tujhe kaise pata hai?" he asked. "Khud Raman sir ne hi kaha tha, after all I had to impress him for Mukti right?" Abhimanyu reminded of the bet to Manik. "You still remembered that stupid bet?" Manik asked. "Yes and be ready to lose Manik" Abhimanyu said and Manik left as he got a call. Alya called him and said Cabir is ready with the formalities to discharge her. He saw Nandini in his midway and wanted to apologize her. He didn't wanted to miss the chance and he dragged her into a room.

"Aap mujhe andar kyu bulaya?" her eyes widened. "Bulaya nahi zabardasti lana pada tumko yaha, can't we just stop fighting for a minute?" he asked seriously. "Kaise? You always force me to do what I don't like!" she accused him. "Like what? seriously! I can't believe you are talking toyour senior doctor like this. Have you ever, just for once, behaved well with me?" he asked holding her tight on her shoulders. She shivered under his touch. He realized that they are about to explode for a fight provided if they continue to talk. "This girl will be my death, for a minute, I die to talk to her and then the next minute I feel like I may kill her" he thought and cooled himself.

"Acha, I'm sorry" he said freeing her. "Its okay" she shrugged. "Its okay?" he wondered. "Yeah, its okay' she said. He again caught her tight on her shoulders. "I said sorry for what had happened not because I held you like this" he said. "No, I won't accept your apology" Nandini turned her face aside. "Why? You forgave your friends and Mukti too" he said. "Wo tho mera friends hai na" she said. "Tho mein kaun?" he asked. "You. are. my. senior" she said giving a pause. He pulled her closer to him that they could smell each other, and he again apologized. She closed her ears with her hands and he asked, "Kya hua?"

"Aap ne kuch nahi bola, aur mein kuch suna hi nahi" she shrugged taking off her ears. "Ok I'm sorry" he said again. "No, I don't remember anything you spoke" she said acting stubborn and this triggered Manik. He held her even closer with both his hands and she also held him for support. He bent down to reach and spoke in her ears. "I hope ye tumko yaad hoga" Nandini didn't expect his next move and before she could react he kissed her lips. She felt his lips on her soft lips. Everytime he kissed her, both of them are unaware of their feelings, but felt a different kind of peace.

"Sorry" he said pulling back from kiss and she didn't spoke. She loosened her hands and let him go. He left her and was about to leave but came back. She couldn't meet his constant gaze on her while his sight was pointed at her. He planted a soft kiss on her neck which made her shiver and whispered while his breathe tickled her, "Happy Birthday."

"I hope you will remember it from now on" Manik gawked at her. Her cheeks turned red. "Bye, I gotta go, see you soon" he left from there. Nandini was all blank and then received a message on WhatsApp from Manik. "I received your message and I will be there in the birthday party in the evening, bye" she smiled seeing it. She had sent e-invites to all the hospital staff to her birthday party. Manik took Alya to his car and made her sit. "Alya, tum ko bhi Nandini ke birthday invite aaya hai na?" he asked her while he dropped her at her place. "Yeah, I saw" she answered. "Cool, then I will come to pick you up" he said. "No tum aunty ko le jao, I will book a cab" Alya said scared of Nyonika. Manik said he will manage but she clearly denied.

Abhimanyu received Ruhi's reports and called Raman to inform him. "Hi sir, Ruhi ke blood sample Ishitha ma'am se match nahi hua" Raman is highly disappointed as his hope died. "Ab kya kare" Raman asked.

"All ways are closed, now Mukti can only save her mom" Abhimanyu said.
