You and Thorin had known each other since late childhood. One day, your parents had dinner, and the two of you had to entertain yourselves as the parents talked. From there, the two of you became the best of friends.

It was now present day, and you were with Thorin and the company after Erebor was reclaimed. Dwalin had tried to convince Thorin to ask you out, but he didn't have the courage. Everyone could see it,

Which is why Kili and Fili took it into their own hands. In one week, Thorin was hosting a ball for everyone to come. It was to honor one year after the battle. They were in charge of setting up you and Thorin for the first dance. Would they get in trouble? Yes. Would it work out? Hopefully.

It was the night of the ball, and you wore a beautiful emerald green dress, with your hair falling in waves. You too, had also fallen in love with Thorin.

"Breathe Y/N." You reminded yourself. "You've worn a dress before..... you just haven't been in front of him in a dress."

There was a knock on your door and you saw Kili waiting in his royal blue robes.

"You looks lovely." He said with a simple smile "Are you ready for the ball?"

You nodded with a smile before taking his arm. When you entered, Thorin's eyes went to you and your stunning dress. Excusing himself, he went and greeted you with a warm smile.

"You look beautiful Y/N." He said.

Before you could respond, Kili clinked his glass with a fork much to Thorin's annoyance.

"Welcome everyone to the ball! I know
it is a very special occasion for us all. Let this be a celebration of life and remembrance. To begin the ball, we shall begin by allowing his majesty to choose a maiden for the first dance."

Thorin stared at his nephews confusion. This was definitely not in the schedule.  Nevertheless, he held out a hand in front of you with a charming smile.

"May I have the honor for a dance?"

"Of course!" You responded with a smile before allowing him to lead you to the dance floor.

Everyone's eyes were on the two of you, and Thorin was not going to ruin this opportunity to steal your heart.

The music began and you could only stare at his eyes. They were full of light, happiness, and.....love?

"Y/N?" Thorin began softly "Can we go out and get fresh air?"

You nodded eagerly, and Thorin led the way to the glowing garden and the starry night.

"What is it?" You asked with concern. "Is everything alright?"

"Yes.... well... mostly. I'm very happy that we have reclaimed Erebor, and that the kingdom is now thriving. You have contributed in many ways, and I'm grateful for your presence."

"I didn't do much-"

"You did many things. You've been an amazing seamstress, baker, and healer. You've also made me feel myself again......and I've fallen in love with you."

A smile came upon your face as you expressed the same feelings. Thorin engulfed you into the best hug you've ever had, his eyes twinkling with happiness and love. To surprise him, you kissed him softly, in which he returned eagerly.

When the two of you came up for air, Thorin moved a piece of hair away from your face. "I suppose you will have to be Queen and live under the mountain, for I cannot allow you to leave my side."

"Oh I shan't think of going back to my home. For wherever you are, that is where my home is."
