A girl from another realm part 4
"Rhadagast! What on earth are you doing here?" Gandalf asked with surprise.
"I was looking for you Gandalf. I found something." Rhadgast said nervously, and began to tell his tale.
"The sword that was buried long ago." You whispered.
"I'm afraid there are much bigger plans with Sauron than we realized.... a Great Evil will be approaching..."
"What kind of evil?" You asked, not really sure what kind of enemy they were talking about.
Before Gandalf could respond, a howl ripped through the air, which caused Thorin to stiffen. The dwarves hollered to signal their distress when fighting the warg.
"Warg scouts! Which means an orc pack is not far behind." Thorin shouted.
"Who have you told about your quest?" Gandalf demanded.
"I swear I haven't told anyone besides my kin-" Thorin protested.
"We need to get out of here we are wasting time." You interjected. "If we can make a break for a place of hiding, we can regroup."
"For once I agree with her." Thorin spoke quickly while leading the group in the other direction. You stayed in the back for Bilbo was right in front of you. Bilbo was one of your closest friends and you would protect him with your life.
The chase was exhausting, you had never ran harder in your life. However, if you didn't keep up the pace you would surely die. Finally, you were able to catch your breath as you hid behind the rock in which the warg stood on top of.
Thorin nodded to Kili to shoot the warg, but you shook your head frantically as to say, No! Don't do that!
Unfortunately, the dwarf did not take your advice, and caused the pack to turn and run towards the company.
"Run!" Gandalf spoke, leading the group to a clearing.
"Idiots." You mumbled while picking up the pace once more.
The dwarves found themselves in a clearing with Gandalf no where to be seen. Quickly, you pulled out your bow and arrows, and began to shoot them along side Kili.
"Y/N! Kili! Come on!" Gandalf yelled.
When you turned around, all of the dwarves were no longer fighting in the clearing. Instead, they were disappearing into the cave. You saw the wargs running towards you and ran with Kili on your heels. Quickly, the two of you jumped into the cave.
"That was too close-" Fili began, until the company heard the horns you knew would bring so many arguments.
"Elves." Thorin growled.
"Come, let's follow the path, yes?" Bofur asked.
The group nodded in agreement and followed Bofur until there was a large opening.
"Rivendell." You and Bilbo spoke quietly, taking in the splendor of the land.
"This was your plan? To lead us to the elves and ask for help! I will not-"
"We need it Thorin." Gandalf reasoned. "We need food, rest, and supplies that they can give us."
"Fine." Thorin grumbled. "We leave in a day. "
You slightly smiled as you saw Gandalf roll his eyes in disbelief.
"Well Y/N?" Balin asked "What can you tell us about these lands?"
"I don't know, I didn't even grow up in my homeland. I grew up in a small village of men....I'm not even familiar with elvish customs."
Thorin's eyes softened towards you as he nodded in approval of your answer.
The walk was short, and you soon found yourself face to face with Lindir.
"Where is Lord Elrond?" Gandalf asked.
"He isn't-" Lindir began, but the horn of Rivendell signaled the return of many elves. You let out a yelp as someone yanked you the middle of the group. To your surprise, it was Bofur. When you glanced at him, he gave an apologetic smile for yanking you so hard.
"Come inside, we will give you food and rest." Elrond offered. You heart leaped at the thought of a bath, and fresh new clothes. Thorin gave the nod of approval and the dwarves finally began to follow the host of Rivendell.
"Lindir, you will escort the maiden to a freshly cleaned room down the hall." Elrond instructed causing some of the dwarves eyes to widen.
"No! Absolutely not!" Bofur exclaimed along with a few of the dwarves. "she is with us."
You gave a small smile as you turned to the company. "I do appreciate that, but I would like to clean myself before we leave. It does not change my loyalty." You emphasized the last sentence.
"Kili be a good lad and be an escort to the maiden." Balin suggested. "We can never be too careful."
It was an awkward silence as the three of you walked down the corridor. Kili had his eyes on you the entire time which made you fearful of talking to Lindir.
"My lady, here is your room. Let us know if you need help." Lindir gestured kindly.
"Thank you Lindir." You gave a bright smile. Lindir bower, and went to find Lord Elrond.
"Can you believe him?" Kili scoffed.
"Kili, he's just trying to do what is expected of him. He is harmless." You replied.
Kili's nodded, you were after all being reasonable. You had never shown any kind of hate to anyone. You were the kindest soul that he had ever met, and Kili found that to be admirable.
"What are you going to do now?" He asked.
"Well, I'm going to clean up, and maybe sleep for a few hours." You remarked.
Kili gave a nervous smile, not entirely trusting the honor of these elves.
"Kili I'll be fine. I'll come fetch you if I need you." You reassured with a smile while entering the room. "I'll see you soon."
Once the door was closed, your shoulders slumped with exhaustion. To your delight, a hot bath was waiting for you in the on suite. You quickly undressed and submerged your body into the hot water, and a goofy grin spread across your face.
"Who knew a bath would cure almost everything?" You said.
Some time had past, and you decided to get out and get some sleep. When your eyes fluttered open, the sun brightened the already bright room. Your eyes caught the dress that was on top of the bed, along with a note.
Miss Y/N,
Please wear this dress until your travel clothes have been mended. The leader of your company has agreed to stay one more day, and then you will leave at dawn. When you have a moment, please find me in the study.
Lord Elrond.
You quickly threw on the dress, and brushed your hair in what seemed like forever.
Quickly, you made your way to Lord Elrond's study and knocked.
"Ah, Y/N, come in." Elrond smiled. "I trust you are feeling better?"
"Very much thank you." You said in reply. "You wanted to see me?"
"Yes. Gandalf has told me." He said while looking directly into your eyes. "How on earth are you planning to save this realm?"
"Well.... it's still the early stages so I suppose I will know more when things happen." You lied. The truth was, you didn't have a clue what was happening, or how to fulfill your role.
"Ah I see.." Elrond hummed. His eyes widened when he saw the dress of so long ago. "I remember that dress. It belonged to my sister, Annalise."
Your breath hitched in your throat at the sound of your mothers name. "I'm... I'm her daughter...."
Elrond dropped the glass that he was holding and stared in shock. "Impossible, my sister died of heartbreak long ago."
"Yeah heartbreak from losing her child." You interjected. "I was whisked away to another realm. Faye found me many years later, and said I had to help save Middle Earth."
Filled with compassion and joy, Elrond wrapped you in his arms tightly, with one or two tears slipping. "I didn't dare to think she had a child. She was always the secretive type. But the question is, why are you here to save Middle Earth?"
"I have no idea. Apparently my mom married a wizard." You laughed.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door, and Gandalf entered the room. "Ah, Y/N. The dwarves are looking for you." He remarked.
"One more thing, apparently I'm tied to Azog in some sort of way." You said. "Apparently he has something to do with completing a quest for Sauron or something."
"We will figure it out." Gandalf promised. "In the mean time, Kili is looking for you, he's in the main room."
You quickly made your way, and Kili's face snapped to you when you entered the room. Relief flooded his heart to know that you were still alive.
"Brother?" Fili asked with a smirk. "Something on your mind?"
"No Fili." He scoffed. "We're just friends."
"It doesn't seem that way. Ever since she's joined our company, you've changed Kili, whether you realize it or not." Fili's face softened at the end. "It's okay if you found your One Kili. I'm sure Uncle will come around."
Kili remained silent, until Fili called you over.
"What can I do for you young master dwarves?" You asked in a joking manner as you sat next to Kili.
"Tell us more about yourself. We are quite curious." Fili spoke with a grin.
"Yeah, and why did Gandalf choose you?" Bofur asked curiously.
"Well there is something I should tell you all." You began nervously.
At this point the entire company stared at you with an explanation.
"As you know, I don't have any memory of my biological family. Remember when we were in the troll cave? I came upon something that leads to my family. It was a magical locket that showed me a memory of my parents. I am indeed half elf, I get that on my mothers side. But I am also part witch... even though my magic hasn't necessarily kicked in yet." You waved dismissively as the dwarves stared wide eyed. "Apparently I'm pretty powerful, and I am wanted by Azog. He had more things for Middle Earth than you all expected."
"Why were you not here the first time?" Dori asked. "You could have saved us a lot of trouble."
"I would if I could." You replied. "You see, my home was ambushed, and I was taken to live in small village, with my true identify hidden with a powerful spell. 18 years later, the apprentice of Gandalf came to get me. You ask why I'm here., and it's because I'm to help save the realm from death and destruction."
The dwarves sat in silence, that you could even hear the crickets in the background.
"Say something." You laughed nervously.
"We're with you." Thorin said with awe. "Your one of us now, until the end."
There was a sense of friendship in the middle of the silence. Smiles and nods of approval appeared on the dwarves faces, that you finally broke out into a genuine smile.
"Well then." Bofur cleared his throat. "I do believe bit of music is in order for the happy occasion."
The company cheered and immediately stood up. A couple of the dwarves pulled out some instruments, and Bofur held out his hand to you to join him.
"Sing us a fun tune will you?" Nori asked.
(Song in the media section because I'm lazyyyyyyyyy)
That evening was filled with song and dance with you and the dwarves. It was a happy time, filled with glee. With one of the songs, there was a long instrumental break, and you felt yourself being twirled into Kili's arms. It was as if the company disappeared, and all that was there was music and laughter. You had to cherish these moments, for dark times loomed ahead.
