A girl from another realm 8

A/N: I love Tauriel. However, for the purpose of this story, she's kind of the enemy... at least for now. For the reader DOS and BOTFA have not come out, but there was a news leak that a girl named Tauriel would be in the films. You'll see what I mean, just don't hurt my bb. Okay enjoy the chapter!

You felt your stomach drop as you entered the forest. Gandalf said to stay on the path, but it was incredibly difficult with the amount of illusions. Gandalf had entrusted you to lead the dwarves to safety, even though you had no idea what you were doing. You also had the ring on a chain to add to the chaos. It felt like it weighed 15 pounds, at the least. It felt like someone was ruining your mood more and more, and you began to question everything.

What is going on with Kili? Did I do something? Am I even good enough for this job?

You chastised yourself for thinking such thoughts. You were part of the company, and they loved you. You swiftly placed the ring in your boot pocket, thinking it will be safe there. Immediately, you felt a little better.

The dwarves has decided to rest, and you stood on guard. The bush to your left made a sound causing you to whip out your sword.

"What is it?" Bilbo asked. "Y/N?"

Terror spread across your face as you saw the shadow of Sauron appear. Immediately, you let out a yelp and dropped your sword in fear.

"Y/N!" Thorin called for you while shaking your shoulders. "Y/N!"

You gasped for air and realizing the dwarves were staring.

"I'm fine. I thought I saw something. Let's keep moving." You muttered, continuing on a path.

The rest of the walk was in silence, until you heard a loud screech. Spiders.

The company immediately unsheathed their weapons, and began to kill the spiders as fast as they could.  You were in the process of killing one, when another almost landed on you. An arrow pierced it's back, and you began to look for the source of the arrows whizzing into the spiders hearts.

"Quick! Throw me a weapon!" Kili shouted.

"You think I am giving you a weapon dwarf, then you are mistaken!" A red haired elf spoke.

The next scene sent a searing pain through your heart. Kili stared at the woman with so much awe. However, she didn't see because she was gathering weapons. You felt a warm liquid on your cheek, and realized it was a tear. Quickly, you wiped it away before anyone could see... or at least you thought no one would.

"My lady are you hurt?" The blonde elf asked gently. "My name is Legolas."

"I'm fine." You mumbled, before handing over your weapons.

Legolas stared at you, not believing you were fully okay. It also amazed him the fact you stood by the dwarves side.

"Take them into custody. We will deal with them later." He ordered.

Soon enough, you were in your own cell, and it was not too far from Kili's.

"Is everyone alright?"  Balin asked. The dwarves began to mumble a conversation in their own tongue that you couldn't understand.

Not that it mattered. Fili noticed your tears, and reached his arm through the bars.

"What's wrong?" He whispered. "Are you hurt?"

You nodded towards Kili's cell where the red elf was standing. That must be Tauriel, the girl who was supposed to be in the movies.

"Why is she here?" You hissed in annoyance.

"She lives here." Fili responded. "But-"

"Listen!" You shushed him, and pointed towards the two.

"What are you staring at dwarf?" She asked.

"It's just, your very pretty that's all." He responded in a teasing manner. You could see Tauriel scoffing, but there was a slight pink to her cheeks.

You covered your mouth, in an effort to stop your sobs. You were in love with the Durin Prince, and it was obvious now he didn't feel the same.

Legolas approached your door, and unlocked it. "The King wishes to speak with you."

"HOW DARE YOU TOUCH OUR WOMAN." The dwarves shouted, and began to curse the elf in their own language.

"It's okay." You said softly. "I'm going to try and get us out of here."

You stood up, and extended your arm to Fili, to give a tight squeeze. Secretly, you placed a hair pin that would easily unlock the doors.

"I'll see you soon." You reply to the dwarves with a wistful smile.

The walk to the throne room was in silence, until Legolas decided to talk to you.

"Why are you with the dwarves?"

"They are my friends." You responded hoarsely. "I'm helping them reclaim their homeland."

"Who hurt you?" He asked softly. "Was it the brown headed dwarf?"

You bit your lip to stop the tears, and Legolas patted your shoulder as a way to give comfort.

"What did he do?"

"I fell in love with him." You responded hoarsely.

The two of you stopped at the front doors, and you took your sleeve and wiped your face. You nodded towards the guards to open the doors, and you entered to see the king.

The king saw your sorrowful state and immediately felt compassion. It reminded him of the times when he grieved over his wife. Legolas went towards his father and whispered the information that he gathered while being with you, and finally left the room.

"What do you want of me?" You asked

"Do you know that elves have an amazing immune system, and can heal from many injuries but the one injury that they can't heal from is a broken heart?" He asked while stepping down from his throne

"What do you mean?"

"When people love deeply, they have the possibility of being rejected. For elves, we can actually die of having a broken heart."

Chills ran down your spine, and Thranduil noticed the fear in your eyes.

"If you are hurt or have been rejected a total of three times, then a slow an painful death is inevitable, for the elf does not see the point of living without their loved ones." He finished.

"Why are you telling me this?" You whispered "of course I don't want to die-"

"I'm telling you this so that you can move on. You don't want your last memories to be of a broken heart."

"How did you survive then?" You asked, hoping there was some sort of cure.

"My wife died  when my son was two years old, my saving grace was the endless love that my child showed me." Thranduil stiffened, trying to push down the memories. "If you did get rejected or hurt three times, you could be saved by someone loving you selflessly in return."

Your heart skipped a beat. You didn't want to die, and yet you still loved Kili dearly. "I want the others to go free."

"No. They trespassed through my kingdom-"

"We were trying to find our way out." You spoke calmly.

Thranduil refused once more, and you let out a groan of frustration. With a flick of his wrist, two guards brought you away, and down into the cellar. To your surprise, the dwarves were still there, and Tauriel was talking to Kili about the feast of starlight.

Luckily, you were placed far away from Kili, and next to Thorin.

"What happened? Did he hurt you?"

"I'm fine." You responded with an even tone. "He just said some non important things that's all." You finished quickly.

"Y/N.....what aren't you telling me?" Thorin asked, concern evident in his eyes.

"Can we talk about this later?" You replied stubbornly. You were afraid you might start crying again. "Let's focus on getting out of here."

"We don't have to." Fili said, standing in front of your cage with the hair pin.

The dwarves cheered, and Fili unlocked all of the cells with ease.

"Where do we go?" Bofur asked.

"Get in the barrels!" You whispered.

With everyone in the barrels, you pulled the lever, and quickly got into yours. You felt the rush of cold water as you floated down the river. To your horror, the orcs crawled over all the land, but there was one in particular.

Kill the she elf who has the ring! One orc screeched. There was no time to be afraid, it was life or death. The company fought together as a team and it wasn't til Fili screamed for his brother did panic overcome you. Without thinking, you pulled your barrel towards him and quickly pulled out the arrow. He slipped into the large barrel, and was barely able to stay upright.

An orc screeched in your direction, and jumped in the air towards you. Luckily, you shoved the sword into its chest and met eyes with Tauriel. You thought about dwelling on your feelings, but there were pressing matters ahead. Kili had been hit with a morgul arrow, and it could get infected if not treated.

"Paddle for the shore!" Thorin ordered

You helped Kili onto the shore, and began to bind his leg quickly. Kili noticed that you wouldn't make any eye contact with him at all, and went to touch your chin so that your eyes could meet.

"What is it?" He asked softly. "Did he hurt you?"

"I'm fine. He was just saying pointless things that's all." You lied while finishing his bandage. "There. All done."

"Thanks." Kili said. Something was wrong and he couldn't quite pin it. His heart began to crack at the sight of your sadness.

"Anytime. That's what friends are for." You said while walking towards the others, until you heard the drawing of a bow and arrow.

"What's an elf like you doing in a company of dwarves?" The man asked.

"Oh for Pete's sake! Can I just not be interrogated for one day?" You snapped.

The man holding his bow and arrow raised his eyebrows in shock. "You aren't really in the mood to be making demands here."

"I'll make whatever demands I damn want to!" You shouted, causing a small smile to spread across the Thorins face. "Who even are you?"

"I'm Bard." He responded calmly.

"We need to get to laketown." Balin began. "We will offer you silver and gold in exchange for food, weapons, and a place to stay."

Bard made his offer known, and the dwarves coughed up as much money as they could.

"Here." You said while handing over a small sack. "Will this do?"

Bard nodded in agreement, and he invited the dwarves to come on his boat. "You must get in the barrels. The guards of the town will not let you in otherwise."

"YOU'VE GOT TO BE JOKING." Dwalin roared in annoyance.

Nevertheless, the dwarves proceeded to get into the barrels. Unfortunately, there was no barrel for you to climb into.

"Not you." Bard stopped you from joining one of the dwarf's. "You will stand here with me."

"And do what may I ask?"

"Pretend to be my consort." Bard said with a cheeky smile.

"ABSOLUTELY NOT!" Kili yelled.

"HOW DARE YOU DISRESPECT OUR WOMAN!"

"Oh hell." You muttered. "Fine! But it's only to get us into town and it certainly doesn't mean anything." You negotiated.

"You don't have to do that." Thorin said. "We will find another way."

"Let's just get it over with." You responded, giving Bard the cue to start sailing for town.

As the sun set, the water became dark and a thick fog settled over the water. When he arrived at port, the man in charge looked at the two of us in shock.

"Who is that?" The man asked Bard while pointing towards you.

"This is my consort Percy." Bard said while wrapping an arm around your waist. You glanced behind you and you saw a familiar set of eyes- Kili's eyes watching your every move.

"Well good on you Bard, the children could use a new mother." Percy said with a small smile while filling out the goods paperwork.

"Not so fast." A dreadful voice said. He was dressed in all black, and gave you the creeps. His eyes fixated on you and he asked, "Who's the lady?"

"I'm Y/N, Bards consort." You replied. "And you are?"

"Alfred. I'm the masters eyes and ears of this town. I'm surprised word hasn't spread around town of your courtship."

"Well it's none of the town's business isn't it?" You said while giving a challenging look. After the events of today, you were in no mood to deal with such men. "Can we get on through now?"

"No. Bard is supposed to file goods specifically for his trade. He's a barge man not a fisherman."

"So?" You responded. "The town needs the food. It could feed many families. Are you going to be the person who denies a person the right to eat?"

Alfred growled in annoyance, and motioned for the gate to be entered.  After Alfred and Percy were out of sight, you helped the dwarves quickly out of the barrels and into the house through the sewer system. Once everyone was dry and warm, Thorin asked for weapons. Within moments, he came back with swords, and axes. (I know it isn't right just go with it.)

Quickly, the dwarves prepared to leave, until they heard a loud knock on the door.  Hesitantly, you opened the door to see Alfred with his wicked smirk

"The master wants to see all of you."
