Chapter Thirty Three- Junco's Always Running

When she talks, her grip on Llano gets looser. I need to get her talking and attack. I should have known she would do something like this when she lost. She killed for power, she would attack when she's losing too.

"Of course he attacked you, you were going to strike Snapdragon!" Junco yelled at her traitorous sister.

"I was going to teach her–"

Junco charged and raked her claws across Static's face. The she-cat lurched back and dropped Llano. He rolled away, leaving a trail of blood. Well it was easy to get her talking. For someone who thinks she knows everything, she could have at least planned her hostage better. Good for us she didn't.

Out of the corner of her eye, she could see Estacado and Snapdragon looking at Llano's wounds. The young tom had blood pouring out of his stomach and neck. Tigerlily and Inky were standing protectively in front of the group. I doubt either of them really know how to fight, it's up to Blizzard and I.

Static stood back up and shook her fur out. Blizzard had snuck around her other side so she was facing attack on two fronts.

"Think about this Static," Blizzard called from his place behind her. "You can't win, you're outnumbered. Two to one."

"Then it might be a fair fight." Static whipped around and bolted at Blizzard.

Junco gave chase and reached the fight just a second after Static landed her first blow, a gash across his shoulders. Digging her claws into the gray she-cat's pelt, Junco tried to pull Static off Blizzard. He screeched in agony as she dug her claws in further to avoid being vulnerable again.

Blizzard dropped to the ground and rolled, putting himself on top of Static but in an awkward position. She ran her hind claws down his back and he leaped up. Junco took the chance and scored her bloodstained claws through Static's exposed belly. Static slashed at her forelegs in retaliation.

Junco reared up on her back legs and Static met her, they clashed into each other and Junco felt one of her front paws twist with a sharp pain. She didn't have time to think about it as she fell back. Blizzard tripped Static as she was dropping back to her paws.

"Stop fighting, this isn't helping anything!" Estacado wailed to no avail.

Static turned back to her paws and Blizzard jumped on her back, pinning her to the ground. She tried to buck him off but Junco placed her paws across her shoulders and added more weight. My right paw is twisted, this hurts!

Static was stuck.

"We could kill you now, traitor."

"Oh sister, you wouldn't."

Junco worked her claws deeper and Static twisted in pain. "I would. Leave, and don't come back. Or I will end you."

"Fine," Static muttered. She turned her head towards Blizzard.

"Every cat makes mistakes, don't you see? I will forgive you! I am right! Join me, come with me, please, Blizzard."

He stared at her with incredulous disgust. "I would never. I would be happy if I never saw you again."

How did she think that would work? She's lost it!

"You're crazy. Now, we're going to let go, and if you do anything other than run away with your tail between your legs, I'll kill you." Junco's voice was filled with rage as she yowled at her sister. Not my sister anymore. She's dead to me. Probably be better if she was actually dead.

"I said fine, now let me go!"

With a wave of her tail Junco signaled to Blizzard and the two of them backed away from Static.

"You'll regret this," she said in a low hiss, before disappearing into the trees. Running as fast as her injured body would take her.

Junco settled her fluffed fur and turned around. "Llano, are you okay?"

Llano lay on a patch of soft grass. Estacado and Snapdragon looked at each other before looking towards her. Their faces were grim.

"Junco, go find some goldenweed, horsetail, or marigold with Estacado, he knows what they look like. Whichever you can find first. Blizzard, go find some cobwebs. Inky, do the same but look elsewhere. Check hollow trees."

Snapdragon was ordering them around again and they all appreciated it. We would be in so much chaos without her. Llano would be gone already.

She ran off with Estacado, opposite the direction Static had gone. Going as fast as she could with her limp.

"Goldenweed and marigold are both yellow flowers, horsetail is a tall stalk with lots of thin, little leaves," the gray tom told her.

"Okay, she said whichever we find first?"

"Yeah."

Searching for herbs as a family member bled out reminded Junco of losing her mother. I will be faster. Llano will not die.

Scanning the forest as she ran through the woods, Junco spotted a smattering of yellow flowers. Are these marigold or goldenweed? I didn't matter right?

"Estacado! I found some!"

He turned towards her and saw the plants.

"Great, I'm coming!"

Grabbing as many as she could carry, Junco began her dash in reverse. The pungent smell of the flowers overpowered her nose as she neared the scene of the fight.

When she reached Snapdragon she dropped the bundle and mewed, "I found these ones, is this good? Is he okay?"

"They are good, marigolds are good. As for Llano, he could be better, as I suppose you know."

The yellow tom lay on his side, his angry, red wounds glistening in the sun. Llano's eyes were closed and he occasionally twitched. His belly was partially covered in cobwebs but they were soaking through already.

"Blizzard's come back already but I still need more cobwebs. Can you go get some?"

"On it!"

And then she was limping through the trees again. Llano has to survive. We can't let him die because of Static.

We can't let her get a victory.
