Okay, so the kids in the story were alive, but when they go to explore the bunker and slowly disappear, they're dead.

Basically, there was an air raid that killed them when their parents were at work. They travel to the woods because their spirits don't realize they were dead. So, they keep reliving the same event over and over again where they all disappear because it's the order of how they died in Anth's mind.

Kind of weird, but it was fun to write. And when they say it was snowing, it was actually the ashes falling from the sky. And when it talks about the house crumpling in the distance, it actually was.
