Chapter 7
Tam P.O.V
I was seriously getting impatient. We had made like no progress at all. Dex had found a series of fingerprints and footsteps, one of each he had identified were from Biana. Now, he was sitting on the ground, desperately staring at each fingerprint and cross-referencing each one with everything else that he had stored in his mind.
We had found that the footsteps lead up to the window and only the two mysterious strangers footsteps were on the ground. Biana must have had been carried out the window because her fingerprints were on the windowsill, yet her footprints were gone.
When we discovered Biana had been taken out the window, Fitz had jumped up and tried to jump out the window before Keefe and Sophie grabbed his arms and pulled him back to the safety of her room, reminding him that getting himself killed wouldn't help the matter at all.
I got where he was coming from.
I wanted to jump out that window and run, far, far away until I found Biana and grab her and take her back from whoever had taken her in the first place. But, nobody could survive that fall except Sophie, and even if we grabbed onto her, where would we go next? The people who had taken her were smart enough to get past Evereglen's security, so they were smart enough to know not to run all teh way to wherever they had taken biana. They had most definitely light-leaped, and though Dex was trying, he still couldn't manage to trace their route.
Whoever they were, they were smart. Dex hadn't even identified the gender of the kidnappers yet, even with his machine.
So, the rest of us were just staring at Dex, sitting on the ground staring, which probably wasn't helping him at all.
Dex suddenly yelped and leaned forward, hitting some buttons on his machine quickly. Everyone leaned forward.
"What?! What!!" Fitz exclaimed, shoving the rest of us back to desperately see the screen. "Have we found anything? Who is it? Where's Biana!?"
I wasn't about to let Fitz be the only one who was seeing the screen, so I jumped forward and peered at it too.
Let me just say, it was very difficult to understand.
There were a bunch of numbers all over the screen, which was divided in half by a neon green line. On one side of the line, there was a giant letter BV-F followed by a series of numbers that I didn't even want to try and comprehend next to the black silhouette of a woman. I assumed that was Biana's side. On the other side, there was a bunch of black silhouette's, some male, some female flashing past at an alarming rate and a bunch of numbers on top, but no letters, unlike Biana's side.
"No, no, no..."Dex said, clicking more buttons. "Wait!" he suddenly cried out, holding a hand to the screen. The screen froze rigidly on a rough silhouette that kept flickering in and out and kept changing.
"Help me remember this! Somebody!" Dex said. "We're losing it!"
"SOMEBODY GET A PIECE OF PAPER AND A PEN! HURRY!" Fitz shrieked, grabbing dex's shoulders and shaking him. "DON'T LOSE IT DEX!!"
"Okay, I have it!" Sophie and Keefe exclaimed at the same time, holding a hand to their heads. "Say it!"
I looked at them, wondering if they were going mad before I sighed. I forgot. Keefe and Sophie had photographic memories.
"I have a piece of paper just in case!" Marella said, waving it around. "I'll copy it too...oh rats."
The piece of paper insinuated in her hand, bursting into flames. Everyone looked at it, a little afraid and Marella looked at everyone sorrily. "Sorry!" she said. "That happens when I get too excited."
"Okay, I'm saying it!" Dex said, but Fitz beat him to it.
"RI-M132_14008976%46__89776NVSBS!! I repeat-" Fitz cried out, but I watched as the numbers on the screen faded away into nothingness.
"No!" I said. The only link we had to find Biana was gone! Linh looked at Sophie and Keefe hopefully.
"Do you have it?" she asked.
Sophie shook her head, and everyone, including Linh, groaned. Sophie didn't have it. We were all doomed.
"Um...hello?" Keefe said, waving his arms. "Other person with photographic memory here! I have it!"
Dex put a hand to his chest. "Oh, thank god!" he exclaimed. "Okay, Keefe, recite it off to me!"
"RI-M132_14008976%46__89776NVSBS," Keefe recited of calmly. Then, he glanced at everyone. "And that is how you memorize stuff!"
I had to admit, as much as I hated that guy, it was pretty useful to have somebody with an amazing photographic memory. Just, never tell him that I said that he was useful in any way because if everything was right in the world, he would be stupid, but Biana was missing, so nothing was right in the world anymore...
Dex quickly typed in everything into his mini-screen and glanced hopefully at the machine. It shuddered for a moment, then stopped.
Everyone sighed. "Did you not say something correctly?" Dex asked Keefe disappointedly.
"I always memorize things correctly!" Keefe protested.
"Well, you picked the worst moment to mess up!" I said, losing my cool. "Who knows, maybe you don't want to get Biana back and you are doing this all on purpose!"
"Tam-" Linh started, but I hushed her impatiently.
"Of course I want her back!" Keefe exclaimed. "She's like, my sister now that Della and Alden have technically adopted me!"
"Just cause you and her are sorta-siblings doesn't mean you care about her!" I shot back.
"I have known her so much longer than you, cared about her way longer than you and have been with her way longer than you ever had Bangs Boy!" Keefe yelled in my face. "I will always be more important to her, and she will always be more important to me!"
I felt like I had just been struck across the face with Keefe's words and stepped back. Keefe didn't even smirk at me, instead, he glared at me with furious hatred.
Fitz looked at the two of us hesitantly and pulled Keefe away from me toward Sophie and Dex. Sophie grabbed Keefe's arm and started speaking to him in a hushed voice while Dex bit his lip and glanced at me and Keefe.
"STOP EVERYTHING!" Marella yelled suddenly. "EVERYONE, GET OVER HERE!"
We all rushed around Dex's machine thingy and glanced at the screen.
"I know who was here!" Marella exclaimed. "The RI part stands for Ruy Ignis and the M stands for male! The NVS part stands for the Neverseen!"
"The other one was super easy to find because when I was pushing buttons on the machine, I accidentally clicked on Dex's profiles with fingerprints linked to each one, and guess what!? The other one was Tinker because Dex found her fingerprint while they were working in the workshop together and recorded it!" Marella finished. "We have or kidnappers!"
"And they are both from the Neverseen!" Sophie said.
"Which means the Neverseen is still continuing!" Fitz added.
"They're building up right under our noses!" LInh exclaimed.
"And they have Biana!" I added.
"DEX!" Marella screamed suddenly. We all panicked and glanced over at dex, who was sitting there in shock and disbelief.
Suddenly, he screamed a horrible scream and collapsed on the ground.
Sophie yelled in panic and we all abandoned Dex's machine and raced to Marella, who was sitting on the ground next to Dex and furiously shaking him.
Sophie pushed everyone aside and placed her shaky fingers on Dex's temple with Fitz right next to her.
"So?" Marella asked nervously. "What is happening with Dex?"
Sophie stumbled back suddenly. "I...I don't know!" she said. "His head, it's functioning, but it's like, complete chaos! I don't know what's happening! It's like, somebody is swirling his thoughts and sorting through them!"
"That's right," an icy voice said.
We all turned around and there, stood Gethen and Tinker.
"What are you doing to him!" Sophie screamed, pointing at Dex, who was now squirming around on the ground.
Gethen smirked and gestured to Tinker who smiled cruelly. "When the idiotic Mr.Forkle assigned him to be my pupil, I instantly knew he was too powerful. So, when I and Gethen came upon the grounds, I told him to disable Dex. It was simple, knowing as his mind is already starting to break."
"How do you know that?!" Sophie said, panting.
"WHAT?!" Marella yelled, glaring at Sophie." You didn't tell me!"
"Ah, ah, ah!" Gethen said. "Looks like Mrs. Foster is still keeping secrets."
"How did you know we were here?!" Sophie yelled again.
"The answer may surprise you," Tinker responded.
"It came from a certain Vanisher I think you would be aquantinced with," Gethen said, smiling.
It came to Fitz first. "She would never!" he yelled.
"Biana? She wouldn't!" I yelled though I was feeling unsure. Maybe, Biana hadn't been kidnapped. Maybe, she had run away from all of us?
"Show us proof!" Sophie yelled.
Gethe smiled. "Oh, that will be arranged." He pointed at us. "Get them."
Blackness.
