42; the audacity of an assassin

Chapter Forty-Two
『the audacity of an assassin』

⋅⋆✯✼⋆⋅

Jace and Kain used the remaining hours that they were given to try and remain focus on the research they originally committed themselves to, though it was hard, given that Kain was still on his little high of being accepted by Janus and knowing that his siblings didn't hate him. currently, the pair were making their way back towards the Benatar, they promised that after their five hours were up that they'd meet back up at the ship. Kain was hugging Jace's arm while their hands were laced, he hadn't stopped smiling since they left the library. It warmed Jace's heart to know that someone accepted him within his family.

It was something that made Jace happy, knowing that Kain didn't have to worry about what his siblings ever thought about him, knowing that his siblings were trying to put a stop to the assassins that Aegon hire out to target Kain. At least that was the one thing that Kain didn't have to worry about all that much. There was a part of Jace that hoped that Kain could meet his siblings once more, knowing that it might help whatever guilt Kain still holds when it comes to them.

Kain's voice was something that snapped Jace out of his thoughts. "I never thanked you."

Jace looked at Kain, noticing the way that Kain looked at him. Jace couldn't help but feel confused about what Kain meant. "Thanked me for what?"

"Helping me understand that I didn't need to hide myself." Kain shortly explained.

Jace smiled. "You're welcome, I guess."

Kain stopped and turned to Jace, a clear smile was on his lips. "I mean it. Without you I don't think I would've had the confidence to do what I wanted, to admit to myself who I liked. You helped me understand myself better than what I did before. You helped me realise so much that I knew I couldn't hide it anymore."

Jace smiled. Kain pulled Jace into a kiss, biting on his bottom lip in the process. Kain's hands were at Jace's neck and Jace's hands at his waist. Jace pulled Kain closer to him, wanting nothing more than to feel Kain on him. Jace was the one to deepen the kiss between them to which a low moan escaped Kain's lips.

Kain moved away, biting his lip, their foreheads touched. Jace kept teasing Kain with going into a kiss, their lips touching ever so slightly before Jace then stopped them from kissing. Jace knew that it was something that would frustrate Kain, which was enough to make Jace smile ever so slightly. Jace loved teasing Jace at any chance that he could get.

Jace's hand rose to touch Kain's cheek, his thumb brushed against Kain's cheek. Kain leaned his head against Jace's touch, a smile on his face and his hand rested on Jace's wrist. Jace's other hand was sat on Kain's waist, gently running up and down, while Kain was playing with Jace's hair, tugging slightly at then ends.

They stayed like that for a moment before Kain kissed Jace as if all that Kain wanted was to feel Jace's lips on his. Not that Jace had an issue with it, knowing that he was more than desperate to kiss Kain at every chance he got. Jace deepened the kiss, moving them both back into an alley, his hand on Kain's cheek had dropped to his waist and had caused Kain to hit his back against a wall down the alley. Jace pressed most of his weight against Kain as their lips moved against each other. Kain's hands ran through Jace's hair, taking small parts into his hands.

Jace's lips moved to Kain's neck, kissing small parts of his neck, and occasionally sucking. Kain's breath became heavy through his pants, all which went through Kain's mind was how much he wanted Jace, how much he wanted this. Jace left a trail of kisses on the prince's neck, working his way to Kain's jaw and lips.

Jace had been overcome by the desire to be close to Kain, to feel every part of him. His hands had moved under Kain's shirt, feeling the light muscles which were there, feeling the way which his chest rose and fell at every pant, feeling the warmth of his skin. Jace harshly kissed Kain, feeling the way which he moaned. Jace couldn't help but almost be a little too turned on by that, his hands moved down towards Kain's hips and ass.

"Jace," Kain moaned, "baby."

"Hush," Jace shushed, his hands moving under Kain's waistband. Jace had then proceeded to give Kain small kisses which trailed from his lips down to his neck.

Kain leaned his head back slightly, biting on his lip as if to hold back any moans that threatened to come out. "I love you; I love you so goddamn much my space boy."

Jace couldn't help but grin at that. "My prince, I love you too. I love you with every inch on my soul."

Kain then couldn't help but moan slightly, feeling the way that Jace stroked his dick a few times which was enough to make Kain's knees buck. Kain then looked at Jace with a wonky smile. "Horny bitch."

Jace's lips quirked at that. He then rose his eyebrow, removing his hand. "Teasing you."

"Fuck you."

"Is that a to-do list?"

Kain let out a somewhat shocked gasp, shaking his head slightly before lightly hitting Jace's shoulder. "You're such an annoying bastard."

Jace moved away from Kain. "I'm your bastard, though." He was grinning at Kain, taking in the flustered look on Kain's face.

Kain rolled his eyes before wrapping an arm around Jace's waist. "Of course you are," Kain then placed a kiss on his cheek as Jace swung his arm around his neck.

The pair then walked out of the alley, heading back onto the path towards the Benatar. Kain couldn't help but occasionally look at Jace, seeing the smile which was on the half-breed's lips—the way which the afternoon rays hit Jace's eyes had made Kain lose his breath, Jace's hazel eyes were stunning when the sun hit them.

Kain bit his lip as he then looked away. There were moments where Jace's appearance slipped his mind, moments where Kain forgot exactly how stunning Jace was—and yet any time Kain looked at Jace, his breath seemed to be taken away just by Jace and his beauty. Kain leaned his head against Jace's shoulder as they walked, he loved hugging Jace, he was always warm, it was something that Kain wondered whether it was just Jace or his abilities. Either way, Kain loved the feel of Jace's muscles under his head.

The Benatar began to come into view, the pair could see the way which the rest of the Guardians had made their way towards the ship. Kain looked back at Jace only to notice the loving look staring down at him. Jace's cheeks flustered a rosy pink as a smile crept onto his lips, Kain placed a hand on his cheek making Jace look at him again.

Kain tilted his head up and lightly kissed him. "I love you, Jay."

"I love you too, baby," Jace mumbled before he then made Kain walk in front of him while wrapping his arms around Kain's waist. "I love you so much, my prince." His lips were pressed against Kain's lips when he spoke.

It was then that they both heard the sounds of both Gamora and Peter yelling at both Rocket and Drax, saying something which they couldn't hear. Though they could work out that the words "don't" and "kill" were in the same sentence. Jace pulled away from Kain as the pair then made their way over towards the group.

Gamora was in front of Rocket, yelling at him while Peter was with Drax reminding him that they can't kill anyone. Jace gave the four of them an odd look, though his eyes then focused on a blooded being behind both Gamora and Peter who held a box in their arms. Jace found himself tilting his head slightly, unsure on what to make of all of this, he wondered for a moment why Rocket would want to kill someone who already looked injured.

"What's going on?" Jace asked.

Peter given him a warning look. "Jace, stay back." Peter looked as if he was worried now that Jace was there. There was this look on Peter's face as if he were worried that the situation would escalate—whatever it was.

Jace's eyebrows knitted together. "What do you mean stay back? Clearly there's something going on."

Kain then cleared his throat. "Who is that?"

Gamora and Peter then tensed up slightly. It was more noticeable that Peter tensed than it was Gamora. Both Drax and Rocket seemed as if they were ready to attack at any moment. It confused Jace slightly, he wondered as to what the problem was and why it seemed so bad. He shared a look with Kain who held the same look across his face, both men then stared at the group.

The being behind both Gamora and Peter rose weakly. Jace tensed over completely, his arm dropped from Kain. Jace's fists clenched at his sides as his jaw set. Kain had stared at the being with wide eyes, not exactly expecting to see the being there. The being moved round Gamora and faced towards both Jace and Kain—though the beings eyebrows shot up when he noticed Kain.

"You," the being said, "are not dead. I thought I killed you."

Jace lunged at the man, anger filled him—everything which he had felt since the Gallery had filled him. The amount of dislike which Jace felt towards the assassin was high, however what had stopped Jace from advancing more towards the assassin was Peter getting in the way. Peter grabbed both of Jace's arms and had dragged Jace away with as much strength as he could. Gamora done her best to help seeing as Peter was struggling against Jace's strength.

"LET GO OF ME!" Jace snapped harshly. Jace tried to free himself, yet Peter's arms crashed around Jace before he had the chance. "I said let go, Peter!"

"Jace," Peter spoke calmly. "You've got to calm down, okay, breathe. He's come to talk, he's not here to hurt us or you. Calm down, please Jace."

"Me, calm down?" Jace retorted. "You want me to calm down? He almost killed Kain, Peter, do you honestly expect me to drop that?"

"Jace, listen to me," Gamora spoke, there was a sense of control within her voice. "Everything is fine. We'll be fine. You know that I'll have your back, I promise you that we will be fine."

Jace breathed as his hard gaze was at Adrian Sanguis. He hated him—he hated the fact that Adrian was here as if nothing happened at all, as if Adrian hadn't attempted to kill Kain. Peter had dropped his arms around Jace, feeling that Jace had calmed himself enough not to attack, though Peter never stopped staring at Jace. Though the only time which Peter's gaze left Jace was to indicate to Kain to stay with Jace—knowing that Kain would probably have more luck calming Jace down.

Kain somewhat hesitantly moved towards Jace, he hadn't ever seen Jace that angry before. In a way it worried Kain, worried him that something would snap soon. Kain tried to shake away the thoughts as he laced their hands together, Jace's tensed face had softened just slightly when he stared at Kain.

"What do you want?" Jace tried to ask without any emotion in his voice.

"I just thought that you deserved to know what kind of information Terra held on you," Adrian explained, looking at the box which was still in his arms.

Jace tensed more so than anything. Earth had information on him—information which he didn't know existed. "What?"

Adrian looked as if he was about to say something though he pressed his lips together with a small smile. He looked smug and that was something that Jace hated more than anything. Jace wondered whether he should break Adrian's arm in order to get the answers that he wanted. There was this deranged thought inside of him that wanted to beat Adrian more than what he clearly got—Jace would have to thank whoever done that to him.

"Tell me." Jace hissed. He could feel the way that his anger came back to him. He wanted to strike at Adrian and hope that it was enough to kill him. Actually, now that he thought about it, there was a part of Jace that wondered whether he could kill someone with one punch.

Adrian just looked at him and then at Kain. There was this look in Adrian's eyes when he looked at Kain that drove Jace insane, as if Adrian wanted to make another attempt to kill him. The thought alone was enough to set Jace off once more. He moved before he could fully know what he was doing, he heard the way that Peter, Gamora, and Kain yelled at him to stop. But he didn't stop, not until he watched as Adrian fell to the ground, the box that Adrian held fell on its side.

Jace punched Adrian unconscious. Not that Jace cared much, he would've done it sooner if Peter hadn't held him back. He felt a cruel smile form on his face as he looked at the unconscious assassin on the ground.
