Secret Tears

Rays of golden light shone down, turning the dark grass an emerald shade. Icy tips were beginning to become apparent on the tips of tree branches and cool breezes flowed throughout the air.

A young boy appeared at the top of the hill. His blue eyes glistening with unshed tears. Reaching a small plaque he placed a single bluebell, one that was almost as blue as his eyes, upon it.

Closing his eyes and dipping his head forwards, causing his dark hair to fall in front of his face. He began to cry. For the first time since she had disappeared he wept, salty tears running down his young face. Tears for her, tears for his family; tears for himself.

He knew he shouldn't feel sorry for himself. For his twin was the one who was endangered; it was her who's life could be at risk. But how else was he meant to feel when his best friend, his twin; his other half, was missing?

Soon, the sun began to rise. Holding his head higher, he slowly stood up and turned away. He had made up his mind, he would never cry for anything...until she was found.

He jolted awake to a sound. Climbing out of his bed he walked towards his door. A quiet shriek could be heard. Quietly walking out the door he quickly walked to where the sound was coming from. Arriving outside his little sisters room he walked in.

The quiet cries got louder as he opened the door. Looking at the large bed he saw the small girl fidgeting in her sleep, crying out for help.

"Sophia?" He walked in, closing the door silently behind him. "Soph, it's okay. It's only me, Danny." Walking closer to her bed he shuck her sleeping form. "Wake up, Soph. Wake up."

Mumbling she opened her eyes. So alike to his, but even more alike to Eliza's. He found it hard to look at his own younger sister for too long, it wasn't even her fault. "Are you okay, Soph, you were shouting?"

Sighing heavily, Sophia looked up at him. "I had a nightmare....I got taken away. Just like Eliza..." Her voice getting quieter during each word, he pulled her in for a hug.

Eliza had been taken around 5 years ago now, but the memories were still raw to them all. Seeing his younger sister so worked up about something she couldn't even remember broke his heart.

He knew that she thought that he didn't like her, because of how much she looked like Eliza, however, he truly loved her. He wanted to protect her with all the power he possessed. He'd lost one sister, he didn't know what he would do with himself if he lost another.

Finally pulling away he said. "Okay now, off to sleep." She snuggled down, underneath her blankets and closed her eyes. He stroked her head until he heard her breathing even out.

Slowly walking back out of the room he looked back, wondering if Eliza had someone who looked after her if she ever had nightmares.

She was coming home. After all this time, she was coming back. Although he had never given up hope, Danny had never thought this day would come. After all these years he would see her again, Eliza.

He heard the door open and saw his family walk into the centre of the room. Staying in the corner he stood. Being able to see everyone, but no one being able to see him.

Andrew waked in, followed by Oscar. Then in she came. Although beaten up, she was still as beautiful as he remembered. Her bright blue eyes, dark hair; sharp features.

Danny knew that she didn't remember them, from the shock that took over her features at seeing them all. Overlooking this, their father and mother walked towards her and hugged her. Next we're his siblings. She looked around, as if knowing someone else was meant to be there. That was when he walked out of the shadows and into her light.

He walked up close to her and they almost fell into each other's arms. His tall, lean frame engulfing her smaller more thin one. He remembered when they were younger and she was taller than him, she enjoyed making fun of him for being small. As their memories together took over he smiled, but that was also when he realised he was crying.

Oh wow. This made me cry just a little! Your descriptions are really amazing, and your sentences are very well developed. The idea to show this scene in Danny's POV is something that I was hoping that I would see! Well done :)
