Talon's P.O.V.
"Everyone's on the plane right?" I yelled quickly gesturing to Jax to do a head count of all the family members we had on board.
Jax quickly called out all the kid's names, checking the seats before giving me a thumbs up, I turned around and gave the pilot a thumbs-up gesture also before sitting down in one of the seats putting on my seat belt. What I hadn't noticed that I was sitting right behind Nyzie and Penny. As the plane began to move Nyzie whimpered trying to hide behind Navy's arm. "Mommy I'm scared." She whispered
"There's nothing to be scared of Baby," Navy whispered back to her, "We are about to fly that's it. The plane is getting ready to lift off in the air. Remember when Daddy use to throw you up in the sky? It's like that, it's a quick second of fear followed by a bit of happiness."
Nyzie shriveled up next to her, "Mommy..."
"Shh," Navy calmed her as the plane took off of the runway tilting side to side raising its altitude in the sky. "Remember that story I used to tell you about?"
"Which one?"
"The story of a little bird that was scared to fly?" She still remember that story?
"Yeah... Kinda"
"Do you want me to tell it again?"
"Yeah..."
"Well there was this little bird named Brownie and her mommy's name was Fudge. Her mommy had protected her the whole time when she was in the egg but she couldn't protect her other babies from the evil creatures lurking in the night. The other three egg had been pushed off leaving only one egg behind and that was Brownie's egg. When she was born her mommy was so happy, she kept her warm, and brought her food until Brownie came to the age of learning how to fly."
"Then what happened?" Nyzie asked interested in the story
"Fudge didn't want her to learn because the fear of losing her was too great in her heart. She wanted to keep Brownie tied down beside her side...she didn't want her to leave the nest because of the grave dangers beyond the wooden sticks keeping her safe."
"But what about what Brownie wanted?"
"Brownie wanted to fly...she wanted to touch the sky...be free...but she didn't want her mom to be mad at her. So every day after her mom left to find food, Brownie would practice flying...she would close her eyes and jump out of the nest hoping her wings would catch her and each time she believed in herself, her wings would let her down."
Nyzie had totally forgotten about her fear of flying now, too interested in the story she pulled away from Navy. "Then what happened Mommy?"
"One day her mommy caught her trying to jump out of the nest, she was furious. She yelled at Brownie but Brownie made her understand that she wanted to be free, she wanted to touch the sky like her...she wanted to learn how to fly but she reassured Fudge that no matter how far she goes she'll always come back to her. She'll never leave Fudge alone."
"Then did Brownie Fly?"
"She did," Navy said quietly, "Because Fudge had realized that all she was doing was holding her baby back. She was so consumed in her fear that she didn't realize that she was keeping Brownie from following her dreams. So from that day on she helped Brownie fly and this time when Brownie spread her wings to fly her wings didn't let her down. She flew...she flew so high along with her mother, that she never wanted to land on the ground again."
Nyzie looked at Navy lovingly, "Like us...look outside the window, Mommy." She said in awe as she ran away from Penny unbuckling her seat belt to Saber, "Uncle Bear look outside the window."
Navy chuckled moving over to the window seat, "Just like us, baby..." She whispered staring out the window. Getting up from my seat I took a step over and sat down beside her.
"So you still remember the story I used to tell you when you were scared huh?" I ask scaring her
Navy looked at me placing a hand over her heart, "You scared me Talon,"
"Still remember the story huh?"
"I still remember a lot of us stuff Talon, not just the story." She got up from her seat trying to pass me but I grabbed her hand yanking her down so she was sitting on my lap.
"I want to talk to you," I said
"We never talk Talon. We only fight and right now I don't have the time or the energy to fight with you." Navy struggled in my grip as I gazed at her beauty.
"I don't want to fight either."
She looked at me confused, "Are you bipolar?" She snapped, "The other night you bombarded me in the bathroom with questions that were completely inappropriate, and now you are saying that you don't want to fight? What is wrong with Talon?"
"Noah...not Talon."
Navy struggled against me harder, "Let me go!"
"Shh..." I whispered, "I'm not doing anything."
Shoving me against the seat she was about to get away but I pinned her down with a harsh grip around her hips, "I want to leave, let me go."
Gently brushing my fingers against her cheek I leaned forward, "And I want you to stay. We need to talk things out Navy, we aren't kids anymore. I'm 28 and your 26. Stop running away from me."
"I'm running away?" Navy asked angrily, "The last time I checked you ran away from me."
"Will you ever stop throwing that in my face? I get it I ran away 10 years ago, I ran away from you and your feelings. But I was running towards my dreams Navy, it was either you or my chance of what I-we dreamed about together."
"What do you want Talon?"
Leaning forward I heard her breath hitch, "Another chance. Let me be your friend again, let me make my way back into your heart Navy. I want forgiveness."
"I-I can't just give you forgiveness Talon...you need to work for it."
"And I will, but I just need to know if you are even willing to let me in again?"
Looking down at me with a helpless look on her face she pushed back away from me, "I don't want to get hurt again." Navy said quietly, "It's just not me anymore Talon, I have Nyzaia. I have to think about the both of us not just me-"
"Are you willing to let me in again yes or no?"
"You're not getting it Talon! I have to put her first and I will not let her get hurt by anyone so it doesn't matter about what I want or not. I can't because I don't trust you."
"I'm already friends with Nyzie, Navy. You are just making excuses."
"No," She shook her head. "No I am not willing to let you in again...and before you ask for the reason, it's because I don't trust you. I don't trust you at all Talon."
I looked up in her eyes she see if she was lying but her answer was crystal clear, She really didn't trust me.
Deep down in my heart, I knew I wasn't worthy of her trust either...
Aspen's P.O.V.
Stumbling into the Resort family room we book all of us slumped down on the couch exhausted from the flight. Nyzaia was sleeping in my arms soundly, "So how are we going to split the room?" I ask quietly not wanting to wake Nyzie up.
Talon rubbed his eyes looking at the room, "Mom, Dad, Uncle Asher, and Aunt Fauna are sharing a two-bedroom suite. Nova, Nini, Mylie, and Saber are sharing a two-bedroom suite, Jax and I are sharing are two-bedroom suite, and Nyzie and you are in a two-bedroom suite as well.
"Sounds good." I said standing up, "Could someone please help me with the bags."
Talon grabbed his bags and mine leading me outside to the suite beside the family suite we rented, "Here is your room, and your key." He said opening the door for me, cradling Nyzie closer to me I thanked him.
"You'll be okay alone right?"
Laying Nyzie down on one of the beds I look around the room, "Yeah, we'll be okay."
"Are you still afraid of the dark?"
"Yeah...but I'll sleep with Nyzie tonight, it'll be fine." I said urging him to leave, "I'm really tired so..."
Talon looked at me nodding his head, "Good night."
"Good night."
Talon sighed backing out of the room without taking his gaze off of me he stopped at the door, "I can stay if you want me to."
"Good Night Talon."
