Kate Austen- Doubts (c)

Never in your wildest dreams could you imagine you'd have been in a plane crash and stranded on a desert island with complete strangers. Granted since you'd been stuck there for so long, they weren't strangers anymore- you'd even started a relationship with your fellow survivor Kate.

Some people reacted better to this environment. Locke seemed to fit in here completely, even though he claimed to have worked in a box factory before this all happened. Even Kate seemed to be made to survive here, she was always the first to volunteer to help, and she seemed to always be the first person Jack referred to if he needed someone he trusted to help out.

You on the other hand were surviving, but you weren't exactly helping matters. You were pretty useless in saving yourself and everyone else, and honestly if you were on your own, you probably wouldn't have reached the twenty-four hour marks. But luckily you weren't on your own, and you couldn't quite remember how long you'd been trapped on the island.

It was making you go stir crazy, and spending every night sleeping on the sand, and fearing that the others could appear and kill you all at any second, everything seemed impossible now.

Kate had left your small tent this morning to help Jack with something. You did ask if they needed any more help but they didn't, so you spent the day leaning against a tree that lead onto the beach. There wasn't anything you could really do but stir in your thoughts.

Having sat there for what felt like a lifetime, you were forced out of your detrimental thoughts by a brunette sitting down next to you.

"Y/N, you okay?" Kate questioned leaning in to peck your cheek.

"Yeah," you sighed.

It was a complete lie, but you didn't fancy responding truthfully, even though you could spend your whole life on the island you didn't have the time to tell her everything that was making you feel down currently.

"I know you're lying," she stated bluntly. "If you don't want to tell me that's fine. But just don't lie about being okay when you're clearly not."

You gave her a pitiful smile as you moved to rest your head onto her shoulder, with her arm looping around your waist, resting her hand on your hip.

"I'm sorry Kate," you muttered.

"It's okay," she smiled, turning to kiss your forehead. "Do you want to talk about it?"

You let out a sigh curling your arms around her middle, you couldn't help but be comforted by being curled up with her in the sand.

"I just feel useless. I'm not used to this. I can't be helpful, and you are just wasting your time with me. You'd be better off with Jack, or even Sawyer. Although he can be a bit of a dick to be fair," you mumbled.

"Is that what you really think, Y/N?" She asked lifting up your chin so that you were looking at her with your tearful eyes.

"Of course. Why wouldn't I think that? You adapt so well. I am pointless here," you frowned, attempting to hold in your tears. "How are we meant to be happy here? Look at it. We're trapped on an island with no way to get back to the rest of the world."

"Look Y/N, I couldn't care less. I'm with you, that's what matters," she smiled, letting one of her hands caress your cheek. "I'm happy being with you. I don't care if we were in a mansion with a swimming pool, living in a shack without plumbing or here on a beach with many other people. All I need is you, even if that wasn't what I'd have thought my life was going to be. I thought I'd be rotting in a cell by now. But I'm not I have the most beautiful woman in my arms and I get to call her my girlfriend."

You couldn't help but smile at her. She somehow was able to make you feel better no matter how much you began to doubt yourself.

"You're wrong," you stated bluntly.

"Pardon?" She asked seeming confused.

"You're wrong. The most beautiful woman is sat next to me."
