The Search

So I'm sure most, if not all of you, who have read any of my stories before has heard of my OC Kira. For those who haven't, She's Lloyd's love interest because I don't ship Llorumi and think Lloyd deserves happiness. Anyway enjoy! 😁

Lloyd's P.O.V.:

That morning, we all woke up and ate a quick breakfast before telling Nya all about the letter we found last night. She was eager to go there and find her brother, but as we expected, she was sleep deprived and exhausted. We didn't want her to form her dragon when she was that tired.

"Come on guys, he's my brother. I have to..." Nya yawned before she could finish her sentence.

"Did you sleep at all last night?" Jay asked her.

She shook her head. "I was too worried about Kai."

"Maybe you should get some rest Nya, we'll find your brother and get him back safe and sound." Cole assured.

"Yeah." I agreed. "Besides, we've got a whole team out there helping us search."

"Maybe I should stay here with Nya then." Jay suggested.

"I'm not staying here when my brother is out there somewhere probably kidnapped by some villain who plans to do who knows what to him." Nya stated. "I'm going!"

"Ok then will you at least ride with me on my dragon until you feel better? I'd hate for you to crash and get hurt." Jay asked.

"If it means I can go then I guess." Nya sighed.

"Works for me." I said. "Skylor will meet us out there and I'll pick up Kira from her treehouse."

"Ooo someone's got a date." Cole teased.

"Is now really the time?" I grew frustrated.

"Come on guys, we're wasting daylight." Nya said.

"Ok, let's go." Zane said.

We all flew our dragons to Hiroshi's Labyrinth while Pixal stayed at the monastery in case he came back. The others were flying around looking for any sign of Kai, but I had to make a quick pit stop first.

I arrived at Kira's treehouse and saw she was standing out front. It had been so long since I first met her on the mission a few months ago...

**********Flashback**********

I was scouting around Hiroshi's Labyrinth in search of my father. He had disappeared after the Oni invasion and nobody knew where he had gone off to. None of the citizens had reported any sightings of him, which was a good thing, but he didn't just disappear. The others didn't want to come with me because if he wasn't harming anyone, there was no reason to track him down. But he had to be somewhere, and I was going to stop him before he had the chance to hurt anyone else.

I continued my searching when I spotted someone and they distracted me. I wasn't looking where I was going. I crashed into a tall tree and my dragon disappeared on impact. I fell through the branches until I hit the ground and blacked out...

"Hey? Hey are you ok?" I heard a voice say.

I slowly opened my eyes and saw a girl with long brown hair and blue eyes starring back at me. She had a green bandana in her hair and was wearing a green sweater and jeans. She seemed to be concerned about me.

I set up and looked around and I was in some kind of treehouse. My head was hurting a lot and my left arm hurt too.

"Hey take it easy, you took a pretty hard hit when you ran into that tree." The girl said.

I could tell she was trying to hold in her laughter. I didn't blame her though, it was pretty stupid of me to take my eyes off the sky.

"Who are you?" I asked her.

"My name is Kira." She introduced herself. "Sorry for scaring you, I saw you crash in the forest and I ran to help. I hope you don't mind but it was about to rain so I didn't want to leave you in the forest."

"That's ok, thank you." I said. "I'm Lloyd by the way."

"Nice to meet you."

I tried to get off the cot I was on but I was dizzy. Kira helped me sit back down.

"Woah, take it easy. Are you hurt?" She asked as she noticed I was trying to avoid moving my arm.

"It's fine, trust me. I've been through a lot worse than this." I laughed. Then she touched my arm and I flinched. "Ow!"

"Oh sorry." She apologized and got an ice pack out of her cooler. "Here, this should help."

She placed it on my arm and it hurt at first, then it started to feel a little better. Then she took the bandana out of her hair and wrapped it around my arm to make a sling. It felt a lot better now.

"How is that?" Kira asked.

"A lot better, thanks." I smiled. "Do you have anything for my headache though?"

"Here, I thought you might need some healing tea when you woke up." She winked and handed me a teacup of it.

"Thank you." I smiled as started to drink the tea. My head was slowly getting better. "So what were you doing out here in the forest?"

"I get around places, what about you?"

"I was looking for someone, but I think it's pretty much a lost cause now." I sighed.

"I know the feeling." Kira frowned. "My parents both went missing in a place called Prime Evils Eye. They both disappeared when I was really young. I was raised by grandmother most of my life, but she died when I was twelve."

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that." I frowned.

"That's ok, it was a long time ago. I don't want to bore you with my sad stories."

"It's ok, I have my fair share of bad memories too." I sighed.

"I suppose that has something to do with the person you were looking for?"

"Yeah." I sighed.

We ended up talking for hours until I was feeling better. We talked about all of the things in our lives that no one else ever cared to listen too. Then I called Cole to come pick me up, because I was too injured to form my dragon, and he arrived outside.

"So, I guess this is goodbye then?" I asked Kira.

"I guess it is." Kira frowned. "Keep in touch ok? It was nice to have someone who actually listened to me for once."

"Same here, I'd like that." I smiled. Then I looked down at my injured arm. "Oh wait, you need your bandana back."

"That's ok, now you have a reason to come find me again." She winked.

"Thanks again Kira. See you soon."

I gave her a hug and it felt amazing. I felt like I finally had someone who understood me. I went home with Cole, who teased me the whole way home about my "new girlfriend." That didn't matter though, I was happy that we met. It felt nice to have a friend to talk to.

*******Flashback ends*******

"Hey Lloyd." Kira waved to me from the treehouse.

"Kira!" I exclaimed.

I flew in front of her and jumped off the dragon. I ran into her arms. I was so happy to see her again.

"I heard about Kai." Kira said. "I haven't seen anything in the labyrinth, but I'll help you look for him."

"Thank you." I smiled. "We need all the help we can get."

"How is Nya doing?" She asked.

"She could be better, but I'm sure she'll be fine once we find him." I said.

"Then let's start looking." She said.

I agreed and formed my dragon. I helped her on the back on of it and we flew off into the forest. I hope that we could find Kai before it was too late.

Nya's P.O.V.:

I was on the back of Jay's dragon flying over Hiroshi's Labyrinth. I was looking for any signs of my brother, but so far I found nothing. It was honestly hard to stay awake because I hardly got any sleep last night. I was up worrying about what had happened to my brother.

"Nya, are you doing alright?" Jay asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I yawned.

"Do you need me to land so we could take a quick break?"

"No way, we need to find my brother." I insisted.

"Relax, we'll find him."

We kept flying until I saw some sharp rocks on the ground. It was hard to see from the air, but it looked like some kind of red fabric hanging from the rocks, flapping in the breeze.

"Jay, down there!" I pointed to the rocks. "I think I see something."

Jay landed the dragon near the rocks and we ran to investigate. Turns out I wasn't seeing things. That fabric I saw was undeniably a piece of Kai's red ninja gi. We continued looking for other clues and found a trail of footprints leading away from the site.

"This way." I started to follow the prints, but Jay held me back.

"Wait, it's best to wait for the others." Jay said. "Whatever trouble Kai's in, we don't want to end up in the same boat."

"Alright, you have a point." I sighed.

We waited a few minutes until the others caught up with us and landed their dragons. I showed them the piece of his clothes that I found.

"That is definitely Kai's." Zane analyzed it.

"What do you think happened?" Skylor asked Zane.

"Well these footprints are different than Kai's." Zane scanned the prints. "My best logical explanation is that someone found him and took him somewhere."

"Any clue who?" Cole asked.

"No idea." Zane said. "But if we follow these prints, they might lead us to Kai."

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go!" I said.

"I'm with Nya." Cole said.

"Ok guys, let's go get our friend back." Lloyd said.

We all stuck together and started following the tracks. I was getting tired from my lack of sleep, but nothing was going to stop me from bringing Kai home.

Kai's P.O.V.:

I woke up and I was still in the shack. I was surprisingly feeling a lot better today, but I still didn't remember anything.

"Good morning Phoenix." Clouse walked in. "How did you sleep?"

"Fine." I answered. "I feel a lot better too."

"I have tried to heal you with a spell in your sleep. Hopefully that helped your injuries."

"It did for the most part, but I still don't remember anything." I held my head.

"The ninja are on their way Phoenix. You must be ready to fight them."

"I will be master." I stood up and bowed.

My arm and my leg felt almost good as new. I followed Clouse outside and he led me to an area that was set up like a training yard a little ways from the shack.

"See if you remember how to fight." Clouse said.

I took to the training course and I was somehow flying through it like a pro. I didn't know where I learned these moves, but they came to me like they had been something I learned when I was younger. I couldn't explain why I knew how to fight so good, but I knew one thing. I was ready for whatever those ninja threw at me.

Skylor's P.O.V.:

We were reaching the end of the tracks when we stumbled upon a small shack. The trail of footprints led inside.

"Kira, do you recognize this place?" Lloyd asked her.

"No." She replied. "I've been to this part of the forest a hundred times, but I've never seen that before."

"What do you think happened to him in there?" Nya worried.

"I do not detect any active heat signatures in that structure." Zane told us.

"Well then that must mean Kai's not in there." Jay said.

"But he was here, and that means he can't be far." Nya said.

"Then let's go see where he went." Lloyd said.

"We're right behind you." Kira said.

The whole group started off to follow the tracks. I hope my boyfriend was alright.

Narrator's P.O.V.:

Kai was in the middle of training when he heard someone running towards him. He turned to see the ninja with Kira and Skylor, but Kai couldn't recognize them.

"Kai!" Lloyd screamed.

Kai was confused why they called him this. Clouse had said his name was Phoenix.

"This is your chance Phoenix." Clouse said. "Those are the ninja."

"Yes master." Kai said.

Kai began to fight the ninja, but for some reason they didn't fight back. They kept dodging and avoiding his attacks, but they never tried to attack him. Kai thought it was weird because the ninja aren't supposed to be nice.

Towards the end of the fight, Kai had Nya pinned up against a tree. From what Clouse told him, she was his sister.

"You chose the wrong side!" He screamed.

"Kai listen to me! This isn't you!" She said.

"My name is Phoenix! And this is me. I'll never be evil like you!" He told her.

'Evil? What is he talking about?' Nya thought to herself.

"Lloyd do something!" Jay yelled.

"I can't, I might hit Nya." Lloyd frowned.

Kai pulled his fist back and was about to punch Nya. The others felt like they had to do something, but Nya was their friend and so was Kai. They didn't want to hurt either one of them.

Finally, Lloyd decided something needed to be done or Nya was going get hurt. He threw an energy ball right behind Kai to cause a distraction, but not hurt anyone. It caused Kai to turn around and let go of Nya, who ran to the others. She seemed shaken up, but she wasn't hurt.

"What is Clouse doing here?" Skylor asked, obviously not happy to see his face again.

"I don't know, but he's going to get his butt kicked for messing with my friend." Cole said clasping his fists together.

Cole was about to attack Clouse with his earthquake move, but Kai got in front of him and pushed Cole down. Lloyd and Zane helped him up.

"Don't touch my master!" Kai demanded, marching towards the others.

"He's not your master, Wu is. Don't you remember?" Lloyd frowned, stepping closer to Kai.

"Stay back." Kai warned, a fireball in his hand.

"Kai I know you, you wouldn't hurt me, and as your friend I won't hurt you. Ok?" Lloyd put his sword down and his hands up.

There was a moment where nothing happened. There were so many thoughts going through Kai's head. Was he lying or was he telling the truth? He didn't know for sure.

"It's a trick! Do not let him cloud your thoughts." Clouse told him.

"Come on Kai, please." Lloyd begged.

"Finish them!" Clouse yelled.

Kai believed Clouse and he threw the fireball right at Lloyd. It hit him and he hit the ground.

"Lloyd!" His team screamed.

"Don't bother us again ninja." Kai warned.

As he and Clouse started walking away, Kai looked back and saw all the ninja surrounding a nearly unconscious Lloyd, Nya crying on Jay's shoulder, and tears in Skylor's eyes as she watched him walk away. Were they just playing the part or did he just make a huge mistake?
