Kai's P.O.V.:

I was alone in the monastery because everyone else had something better to do. Lloyd was with Wu and Misako helping at the museum, Jay and Nya were on a date, Cole was doing something with his dad, Zane was with Pixal helping Cyrus Borg repair the damage the Oni did to his vault, So I was all on my own.

I had to go out and greet the mailman real quick to collect the mail, we said a friendly hello and he handed me everyone's mail.

I went back inside and looked through my mail. Most of them were bills, fan letters, and one or two letters from my parents. I thought about reading them, but I I wanted to wait till Nya got home first. Then I saw one that looked really weird. I decided to open it.

It was a piece of paper and all the letters had been cut out of a magazine to spell out a message.

I have Skylor in Hiroshi's Labyrinth. Tell no one or suffer the consequences. If you come with anyone else, I will not hesitate to hurt her. You have 24 hours by the time you receive this to rescue her.

I didn't tell my friends where I was going, I just dropped the letter and ran out the door. I had to save Skylor! I hopped on my dragon and headed for Hiroshi's Labyrinth as fast as I could.

I was just over Hiroshi's Labyrinth and I was flying above the trees to see where Skylor was. This forest was huge and dense so it was hard to find anything. The letter could've been more specific.

I thought I spotted her in a small clearing and I got so emotional my dragon disappeared. I tried to get it to appear but I couldn't, I was too freaked. I looked down and there were a bunch of sharp rocks below me... yeah this wasn't gonna be a soft landing.

I slowly opened my eyes. I looked down at my whole body, I had multiple scratches all over me and when I tried to sit up I couldn't. My leg hurt so badly I couldn't move it, same with my arm and my head hurt so much.

I didn't know where I was, or who I was, or how I got here, or how I got myself so hurt. I was so tired I couldn't stay awake. I passed out again...

"Wake up!" I heard someone shout in my ear.

I opened my eyes to see a man in front of me. I was in a hammock in some kind of shack possibly still in the forest. The man had slick black hair tied back into a ponytail and bright green eyes.

I tried to sit up but my hurt arm was in a sling and my leg wrapped up. I still couldn't move very much and I couldn't recognize the man, and I couldn't even recognize myself.

"Wh... where am I? Who are you? Who am I? What am I doing here?" I panicked.

"Relax fire master, you have appeared to have suffered major injuries including memory loss. All your questions will all be answered in time, but now you must rest." He said.

"How did I end up like this?" I asked.

"I don't know, I found you like that." He said. "You were pretty roughed up, must have been those nasty ninja."

"Ninja? Who are they?" I asked.

"The ninja are the enemies in this place." He frowned. "They leave a trail of sadness and destruction wherever they go, showing no mercy to all who get their way."

"That's terrible."

"I know, that is why I have been training you for years to rival the ninjas' antics, and I believe that one day, you will destroy them."

"What can you tell me about them?" I asked.

"There are five ninja." He started to explain. "Lloyd is the leader of the team. He's young, but he is also strong so you must be careful. Then there's Cole, solid as the earth, strong as a rock. His quake move is dangerous so you must find a way to counterattack. Zane is the master of ice and the brains of the team. If you show any flaws, he'll be the first to find them. The last one is Jay, the blue ninja. He doesn't look like much, but you must not underestimate him, he's wild and full of surprises with his creative fighting styles."

"Wait, I thought you said there were five, what about the fifth one?"

"That is a sad truth, fire master." The man sighed. "The fifth one is Nya. She's the elemental master of water, and she's also your sister."

"My... my sister?"

"When you two were younger, she was not able to see the light and untimely choose the wrong path."

"What happened to my parents?" I asked the man.

"I am sorry I have to tell you this fire master, but in the wake of the ninja's destruction, your parents were killed in the crossfire."

I was saddened by this news. I felt dizzy and I held my head in pain. The whole forest looked like it was spinning.

"You are weak, you must rest now." The man insisted. "I will alert you when there is trouble."

"Thank you." I said. "What is your name again?"

"Call me Clouse."

"Ok, then what's my name?" I asked.

"You ask everyone to call you Phoenix. You are the master of fire." Clouse told me.

"Phoenix?" I looked at my hands. "I like it."

I didn't know what was going to happen next, but I know one thing. Those ninja will pay for what they've done.

Nya's P.O.V.:

Jay and I were on our way back home from the mall. He was driving and I was in the passenger seat. I was playing Candy Smash on my phone when I got a text from Skylor.

Skylor: Hey Nya.
Is Kai with you?

Nya: No, I thought he was
hanging out with you today.

S: That's what I thought
too but he didn't show
up for our date and I
can't reach his phone.
I'm starting to get
worried.

N: I know my brother
and he wouldn't stand
you up like that.

S: I know, that's
why I'm worried.

N: Maybe he fell asleep or something. I'm on my way
home so I'll check it out.
You're welcome to come
by there too.

S: Thanks I'll be right over.

N: I'll let the others
know. See you then.

S: See you.

I tried to call my brother, but it went straight to voicemail. I called him two more times and it did the same thing. I was really worried now, Kai is always on his phone.

"Nya, you seem tense." Jay noticed. "Is everything ok?"

"Skylor told me that Kai never showed up for their date." I explained. "I've called him three times and he didn't pick up."

"That doesn't sound like Kai at all." Jay said.

"I know. What if something bad happened to him?"

"Relax Nya, I'm sure there's a logical explanation for all of this, like maybe he's pulling a prank."

"Kai's pulled his fair share of pranks, but he usual lets us in on the joke before we get this worried."

"Well we're almost there. Don't worry, we'll figure out what's going on." Jay smiled.

"Thanks." I said.

We arrived at the monastery and we met up with Skylor. We all ran inside and looked all over the monastery for Kai, but I found no sign of him. I met up with Jay and Skylor in the kitchen, and they didn't have any luck either.

"Where could he be?" I freaked.

"Nya, it's ok. I'm sure he's around here somewhere." Jay put his hand on my shoulder.

"He left his phone here, he must've left in a hurry." Skylor said.

"That's weird, Kai always takes his phone with him." I frowned. "Something must have happened to him."

"The monastery doesn't look any messier than it usually does, so no one broke into it." Jay said.

"And there hasn't been any news reports of anything wrong in Ninjago." Skylor said. "If he were out on the streets, someone would've recognized him."

"Ok, I'm going to look for him." I decided.

"Nya it'll be dark soon." Jay said. "There's no way we can search the whole city in the dark."

"I know, it's just not like him to wander off like this and not tell anyone where he went." I grew frustrated.

"It's ok Nya. I promise the whole team will look for him first thing in the morning." Jay kissed me on the cheek.

"Ok." I frowned.

"Well I better get going now, but I'll be back first thing tomorrow to help you look for him." Skylor said.

"Ok, see you later Skylor." Jay said as she left. Then he turned back to me. "You better get some rest too Nya, it's been a long day."

"What if he's hurt somewhere, or he got kidnapped or... or...?"

"Hey calm down, he's tough. He'll be ok."

"Thank you Jay." I sighed. "Good night."

"Night." He kissed me on the cheek and I started walking to my bedroom.

Jay's P.O.V.:

I knew Nya needed her rest, and I knew she would be worried so I decided to stay up in case she woke up and needed someone someone to . In order to pass the time, I was cleaning up around the monastery and while I was sweeping the floors, I found a note. It was addressed to Kai.

I read it and thought that it didn't make any since. It said that Skylor had been kiddnapped and taken to Hiroshi's Labyrinth, but I had just saw her half an hour ago. There was no way to tell who sent it, but now we at least have a clue to where he could be.

I was excited to tell Nya, about what I found, but I didn't want to bother her if she had already fallen asleep. She really needed rest.

About fifteen minutes later, the rest of the ninja came home. I told them all about Kai, Skylor and the whole situation.

"Well what are we all standing around here for? If Kai's in trouble we need to help him." Cole said.

"It would not be advisable to go to such a dangerous area after nightfall." Zane said.

"I'll go." Lloyd offered.

"You just want to go so you can see Kira again." Cole crossed his arms.

"Nooooo..." Lloyd blushed. "I wanna go because Kai could be in trouble and he might need our help."

"You can't go out there alone." I said. "Hiroshi's Labyrinth is huge, it'll be impossible to search that jungle by yourself."

"I suggest we wait until morning." Pixal said. "We'll have better luck in the daylight."

"Pixal is right, we'll look for him tomorrow." Zane said.

"Ok but whatever happens don't tell Nya until we all get up. She was really upset when she found out that Kai was missing and I don't want her to go after him alone."

"Got it." Cole agreed and the rest of them nodded.

We all said our good nights and went to our own rooms. I hoped that wherever Kai was, he was ok.
