The Memory

"Safety first, always! WOOT!"

- Croissant Cookie

This story takes place in the near future.

TW: Traumatic flashbacks

Late into the evening, a clock ticks beneath a ballroom.

Time Balance Department, or the TBD for short. The Clock Square. A place where all times are stored. Yet, a few Cookies share their memories here, fixing time. (Though at the time, Timekeeper was still the Director), and those who were still the crumbs of a Cookie. They wondered around the Clock Square, that constantly monitors Earthbread with chronographs to check if the timelines are intact, exploring to their heart's desire. They kept themselves busy each and each and every day that passed.

The previous Director herself, Timekeeper Cookie, was jotting down things on her clipboard. She was, indeed and in fact, alone by herself in her office. She really had absolutely nothing to do there, while the ticking sounds of a clock filled the silence between her. A unusual, yet clever day at her own office.

 Typical, typical, typical

Everything was going usual as it was in the TBD, GingerBrave and his friends following a lost Compass from the sea, and soon, heading towards their next destination. String Gummy Cookie, a subordinate to his Director, while a few other Cookies hung around to keep him company. Maple Taffy Cookie, with his optimistic and energetic heart, along with Coffee Candy Cookie, were talking with each other about their own things, and what the day's temperatures it bought, while Baguette Cookie, along with Dark Fondue Cookie, were busy watching time from afar. Everyone was busy with their own work... Except one.

In the deepest part of the TBD, was a dark and dim office overflowing with life and glowing with it's own beauty. Ever since the brave and courageous Cookie and his friends met her and Timekeeper Cookie, she found the absolute perfect office for her own mission in which her employer, String Gummy Cookie, was doing from the goodness of his heart. He really didn't have to do that, for his Director. It wasn't a lively office, though. Not to her, she hated it.

Her name was Croissant Cookie. She was pacing back and forth, her arms and hands trembling and her breathing heavy and anxious. That wasn't typical from the normal engineer she's supposed to be. This office, that was built just for her, used to calm her senses and sometimes her heart, in moments like these. That wasn't normal. She wasn't someone who was scared and frightened like this, oh no. She was loud and proud. A true engineer at heart. A grateful Cookie.

But, why was she like this...? Why couldn't she be like the engineer she used to be? Why couldn't she as successful as the Director herself...?

First of all, she wanted to become the greatest engineer ever. But, she couldn't be because, of course, she was the Director. At least, that's what String Gummy Cookie told her.

"The Director used to say that too.
She always dreamed of becoming the greatest mechanic."

"But she was too responsible to go ahead with that dream."
