Part 4; Chapter 16 - The Void

The two humans raced through the plains together, hand in hand as to not lose each other. Sabre's bag had been unfortunately lost, and Lucas's hat had flown off his head of fluffy golden hair.

"Into this cave, quickly!" Sabre called. The two ducked into the cave, running deeper and deeper, hoping whatever was after them wouldn't find them. They slid down a steep slope, Lucas using a wooden pickaxe to regulate their speed.

They ran across the cavern, barely able to see from the light of nearby lava. As much as they didn't want to trip, they'd rather not be spotted either.

Sabre hissed as sunlight suddenly flooded the huge cave, fighting the urge to squint his already covered eyes. Lucas pulled him behind some dripstone, quickly mining out a small crevice to hide in. The cousins huddled together, hands over their own mouths to silence their breathing.

Sabre almost screamed when the dripstone just above their heads was suddenly deleted, shrinking farther into the corners Lucas was able to mine. He watched with wide eyes as the deletion continued throughout the cavern, chunks of stone seeming to just vanish into thin air qnd dropping the precious ores they had once held.

Lucas grabbed Sabre and pulled him out of the small crevice, taking the chance to run for the entrance. The two were quick on their feet as they scaled the cave wall to get back out into the sun. "Quickly," Lucas said, "this way!"

They ran west, the rising sun at their backs. Sabre didn't even know what had really happened. One moment, he and Lucas had been waking from their nap, glad to know their reunion wasn't a dream, and the next thing they knew, they were running from some sort of world-eating invisible entity.

Lucas and Sabre burst through the forest into a huge flower field, the tall grass brushing past their fingertips as they ran. If it weren't for the circumstances, Sabre would have found it very peaceful, but unfortunately that wasn't so.

How could he even deal with something like this!? Running from it couldn't be the only solution to getting rid of it, right? There could be a possibility that a Steve would be causing this? Then- "Lucas, I have redstone!!" He called, tugging his hand back and giving his sleeve to Lucas to hold. Lucas instead just picked Sabre up. "I got you, go through your pockets!" He said, narrowly dodging a newly formed crater.

Sabre pulled the redstone he had picked up from his back pocket, dropping from Lucas' grasp and spilling it around a circle, Lucas ready to grab Sabre and run again as he watched the craters encircle them. "I NEED A LEVER!" Sabre shrieked. Lucas grabbed a cobble and stick from his own satchel, crafting the stick into the rock and slamming it on the ground, Sabre flicking it on as soon as it was down.

The craters stopped forming. Sabre let out a shaky sigh of relief, dropping to his knees as Lucas kneeled next to him. Sabre began to laugh. "That was terrifying!" He exclaimed as Lucas joined in a panicked laugh.

They collapsed in a heap of exhaustion, each holding the other's hand as to make sure they were still real. Their breathing soon slowed to normal, their heartbeats calming as well. "What even was causing that..?" Sabre then asked, turning his head to Lucas. "You're asking me?" He replied. Sabre laughed and shook his head. "Yeah, dumb question, I know."

They fell into another silence before Sabre sat up. "Hey, why didn't you use your powers to teleport us out of that?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. Lucas furrowed his eyebrows, suddenly feeling very vulnerable. "Uh.. well I don't have full control over them, and we don't want whatever out there to know what I can do." He settled with. Sabre huffed, unsatisfied with the answer but unsure if he'd be getting anywhere else with the topic.

"Sabre?" Lucas then started, suddenly sitting up. "Yeah?" "Uh- behind you.." Lucas pointed, and Sabre turned. The humans grabbed each other's arms, quickly standing, both staring at the entity hovering in front of them, black cloak flowing in the wind. Lucas could feel Sabre trembling.

"My, my, look what we have here." It grinned.

Hey guys, important A/N for this story

If you skipped past the A/N last chapter, please read this one!

Unfortunately, Lost Memories is coming to a close. As I mentioned before, my writing style has changed, my headcanons have changed, and the more I think of it, there's dozens of plot holes in here as well.

That makes this the last actual chapter of Lost Memories, but don't worry, you won't be left of this cliffhanger forever! I'm currently working on a summary chapter to tell of the events that happen after Part 4 Chapter 16, and what would have been Parts 5 and 6.

I apologize that I had to give up on this book. I was exited to finish it, but it became too much to finish. We're looking anywhere between 32 and 48 more chapters that I just wasn't willing to write. Despite following the Steve Saga storyline with a twist, I was running out of material.

However! I am not stopping my FavreMySabre related content. I'm going to be starting a new story that I'm actually going to finish. I have a general idea at the moment of what I want to write for it, and I'm starting the world building. I also have a pretty cool title for it too.

Either way, I'm gonna go finish up my epilog summary chapter. See you guys with this story's closing chapter next Wednesday!
