It was the day the first round of the tournament begins, Ash was reading the rules that he was sent a while ago. The rules state that the first three rounds are 1 on 1 battles, the next three are 3 on 3 and the last two rounds are full team. As everyone left to see what the pairings were, the board shuffled the participants and revealed the 128 pairings. The pairings were put in four different stadiums to battle and Ash was in the blue stadium. His opponent was Misty and he had a plan right up his short sleeves.

"So, you're battling Misty" Serena exclaimed.

"Yup, and I vaguely remember, she has a mega Gyarados" Ash stated.

"What Pokémon are you going to use?" Serena asked.

"You'll find out once it's my time to battle" Ash told her.

"Ok" Serena said ending the conversation.

Andrew came in and called them to get ready to see the battles. Ash gave Serena a quick peck on the cheek before running off to the blue stadium. As he walked into the arena, he saw Misty standing on the other side not looking too happy. After the referee said the rules, the two sent out their chosen Pokémon. Misty sent out her Gyarados while Ash sent out a Riolu. As soon as Misty saw this, she fell on the floor laughing while the crowd minus Andrew was confused.

"You start with that, you are truly a weakling" Misty laughed.

"They say that size doesn't matter, but clearly you're too stupid to think about" Ash exclaimed enraging her.

"That's it, mega evolve" Misty screamed mega evolving her Pokémon.

Gyarados was enveloped in a light, changing into its mega form. The Atrocious Pokémon roared but Ash and Riolu wasn't fazed whatsoever. The battle began with Gyarados firing a Hydro Pump which Riolu dodged easily. It went in close and used Force Palm dealing a lot of damage due to the dark typing. Misty didn't like that so she ordered her Pokémon to use Aqua Tail which knocked Ash's Pokémon back but it got up easily. Riolu ran onto Gyarados and jumped high, it fired an Aura Sphere which surprised everyone except for Ash and Andrew.

"What in the world, Ash's Riolu can use Aura Sphere" The announcer announced, "That is amazing"

Misty was sweating during the battle and ordered Gyarados to use Hyper Beam but it missed and Riolu sent an Aura Sphere. The blue ball of energy flew towards Gyarados' head and sent it to the wall. It reverted back into its original form. This gave Ash the win and everyone in the crowd minus the traitors celebrated. After all the battles were done for the day, everyone was heading back to their rooms. Serena, Clemont, Bonnie, Dawn and Max were intrigued by Ash's Riolu so they decided to ask him about it.

"Hey Ash" Clemont called out.

"Yeah Clemont?" Ash replied.

"We've all been wondering, how does your Riolu know Aura Sphere?" Clemont asked.

"Ok then, everyone sit at the table while I explain" Ash said gathering everyone to the table. After sitting down, he started explaining.

Flashback

It was a snowy night on Mt. Silver, Ash and Andrew were in the lab checking Ash's memory after watching all his past battles. The computer read 7 percent so his memory was gradually coming back. As they were cleaning up, they heard a noise from outside and checked to see what was going on out there. They saw a very damaged Riolu battling a wild hoard of Ursarings, it was weakened and fired an Aura Sphere to protect itself. Ash sent out Charizard while Andrew sent out Newcastle and took out the hoard. Ash ran to Riolu and picked him up, taking him back into the lab.

"I wonder how you can use Aura Sphere at this stage" Ash said to the Riolu as he was bandaging it.

"I've heard that there are Riolu's who want to look for the perfect trainer that learn Aura Sphere" Andrew stated, "Maybe it was looking for the right trainer here"

"But what's it doing here, there are barely any trainers here" Ash pointed out.

"It could be looking for one of us but I've already got a Lucario" Andrew replied, "I think you might be the trainer"

"Do you want to join me?" Ash asked Riolu and it nodded. Ash pulled out a Pokéball and it tapped its paw on it causing it to get captured.

Flashback end

"And that's how Riolu joined my team" Ash said ending the explanation.

"Wow, it's just like the Riolu we encountered on our journey" Dawn stated causing Ash to get a memory spike.

"Oh yeah" Ash exclaimed taking a pill.

"Did you get any other Pokémon?" Clemont asked.

"A few of my old Pokémon have evolved and I did catch some extras that I'll use later on" Ash answered.

"Oh boy, I can't wait to see them" Bonnie cheered.

After that, the friends went back to their respective rooms to have a rest. Ash and Serena got ready for bed and fell asleep, excited for the next round.

'Allogovernors, sorry for the short chapter. I've been quite stressed about a testbut I've now finished it so all is good. Since I will be finishing two stories,I will write two others afterwards. The first one, I did a poll and the voteswent into Hero High which is a story based off of the Disney movie Sky High butwith Amourshipping and Pokémon added. The other one I will be writing will becalled Mercenaries. It's basically Pokémon mixed with Team Fortress 2 and itwill take place in college with Amourshipping.
