Days after the hospital visit came and went. Every day I tried my best to be professional, and every day Percy tried his best to thwart my efforts with his charming personality and adorable eyes.

"Hey Chase," he said one day as he approached my desk, a smile on his face. "You emailed me?"

Despite Percy's job, he did not look professional. Sure, he was dressed in a suit and tie, but it didn't make him look professional. His askew tie and slightly wrinkled and wrongly buttoned shirt would partially be responsible for that, or maybe it was his messy hair and goofy grin.

"Yes, you still haven't chosen the color of the carpeting you'd like. Or if you'd even like carpeting," I replied. He nodded as he leaned against my desk and I tried my best not to blush.

He sighed and crossed his arms, his eyes drifting towards the ceiling. "Carpeting, got you. Ugh, I'm so bored...."

"Hmm," I replied in a bored tone without looking at him. Instead, I focused on my computer screen. "Maybe you should do some work."

"Yeah, right," he responded with a chuckle. "It's nearly five, quitting time."

I peered at the tiny clock icon on my computer and nodded. He was right, it was nearly five. "I guess that's true. Any big plans for tonight?"

He smirked, clearly glad to talk about anything bedsides work. "So, you'll talk to me about things other than carpeting now?"

"If you want I can stop," I teased. He shook his head. "Thats what I thought. I know you, and I know you're going to do no work and get nothing done this close to being done."

Percy grinned. "You know me too well, Chase. And to answer your question, no, no big plans, just me and my TV. What about you?"

"No fancy architect conferences, that's for sure," I responded, causing him to laugh. Both of us nodded with reminiscence of that atrocious evening. "Hey, speaking of, I never got to formally thank you. I was going to get you a gift card or something."

Percy raised an eyebrow and opened his mouth to speak, but I just rolled my eyes.

"I know, I know. I'm lame. A gift card for saving my child's life is not a fair exchange, but hear me out," I said, causing him to laugh. "How about I make it up to you? Tonight?"

Percy stood up and stretched his legs. "Tonight?"

"Tonight," I confirmed. "You said you weren't busy."

"I did say that," he responded.

I rolled my eyes. "Are you going to bail on me now, seaweed brain? Make up some lame excuse? I promise I won't take you to any silent movies or multilingual lectures."

"Thank god. Alright, then. How about we get some dinner? I'll choose," he taunted.

I rubbed my temple and groaned. "You'll choose? Oh no, I'm getting flashbacks."

Back in high school, when Percy and I were a couple, we would often flip flop on who would get to choose the restaurant or venue of our date. When Percy would decide, we'd end up in some truly crazy places, usually at midnight by the time we got there (Percy gets very lost easily when driving.)

"Well, you do owe me. You can thank me over and over again at the restaurant of my choosing," he said with an evil laugh. "What time works for you?"

I sighed. "Seven is great. And Thalia will be home, so I can stay out as long as I'd like. Until, like, eight thirty."

We both laughed as eight thirty used to be my ridiculously early curfew. Sometimes when I arrived home for the night the sun wouldn't even be down yet.

Percy nodded and the peered at the clock, a grin on his face once he saw it. "And that's five! I'll see you soon, wise girl."

For some reason, I blushed at the use of my old nickname. "See you soon, seaweed brain."

I watched as he grabbed his coat and swung it over his arm. Then he headed out the door. A few seconds later he backtracked and pointed at me. "Oh, and wear something nice."

And with that, he was gone.
