"Oh, crap, it's raining," Percy murmured as we made our way to the exit of the bowling alley, much to the worker's joy. "I was gonna walk home..."

I frowned and crossed my arms while peering at the rain fall down outside. "You live near a bowling alley and still bowl that bad?"

Percy laughed bitterly. "Haha, wise girl, very funny. And no, I'm just renting a condo. I haven't found any good apartments yet. Now stop mocking me and lend me an umbrella or something."

"An umbrella, are you kidding? I'll drive you home, get in my car," I instructed, causing him to raise his eyebrows in shock. "Percy, you're going to get a cold if you walk home. Come on."

Percy stared at me, clearly dumbfounded. After standing there and staring at me for a few moments he nodded hesitantly. "Okay, but you're gonna get soaked running to your car."

"So are you," I noted. Then I watched as he reached for his coat jacket and started pulling it off. I shook my head. "No, that's yours—"

He placed the jacket around my shoulders and grinned. "Hey, you're doing me a favor. And I don't want you to get soaked since you're driving. Here, you can lift that up if you want. To cover your hair."

I rolled my eyes before locating my keys. "When have I ever cared about my hair, Percy? You know me better than that. Now let's go rush through the rain, on my count—"

"No, on mine," he insisted. "Three—"

"No, no, I'm driving, so we're going on my count," I persisted irritably. "Three, two—"

Percy shook his head and pointed at me. "But you're wearing my coat, so I should count. Bedsides, I—"

"Now!" I shrieked before opening the door and grabbing Percy by the arm, pulling him out into the rain with me.

We both laughed as we arrived at my thankfully unlocked car and climbed in, glad to be out of the rain.

"What's your address?" I asked as I started the car and made my way out of the bowling alley parking lot and into oncoming traffic. I rolled my eyes. "God, no one seems to know how to drive in the rain in California."

Percy chuckled and nodded understandingly. "God, I know, right? I'd love to see these people drive in the snow."

After we finished our conversation on horrible California drivers, he gave me the address to the condo he was renting, which was nearly three miles away.

"You were going to walk three miles?" I asked as I craned my neck to face him. "That's close to you? And in the dark?"

"Yeah, well, I can't afford to Uber everywhere," he mocked. "That's what I miss about New York. Cabs. They're everywhere and don't take millions of years to pick me up like Ubers do."

I couldn't help but nod in agreement before turning my attention back onto the slippery road. "I suppose you're right. That's partially why I bought a car."

Percy peered around my car and help back laughter. "And you bought a snazzy one, I must say. A Toyota?! Damn, Chase!"

"Don't laugh!" I chastised, my face burning with embarrassment. "Hey, it's sensible!"

"Oh, you don't have to convince me, I already love it," Percy retorted sarcastically.

I rolled my eyes and groaned. "Oh, just shut it! You're just jealous!"

Percy bit his lip. "Yup, that's totally it. Jealousy."

"Ugh, I miss the days where you were impressed by any car," I replied. "Remember my first car? That thing was a piece of junk, but you loved it."

"Hey, sixteen year olds are easily impressed. Especially when it comes to first cars," he responded defensively.

We reached his rented condo soon enough, where he hastily jumped out of my car. The rain had started to clear by now, but he was still soaking wet from earlier.

"Well, this is it," I said, slightly disappointed my evening was ending so soon.

He grinned. "Yes, yes it is. This is it, and I will never see you again."

"Oh, you know what I mean!" I protested as I rolled my eyes. Percy simply gave me his signature smirk in response, which made my heart skip a beat. "I guess that I'll see you Monday. I'll see you at work."

"I'll see you at work," Percy repeated back to me with a wink. Then he closed the passenger side door to my car and waved at me. I watched as he made his way over to his rented condo.

The block of condos was fairly average. There were a row of several of them, all of them being nearly identical. They all had the same cheap stone accents and matching blue doors.

Percy approached one of them, which I assumed was his, and stopped for a second. His was probably the plainest of them all, which was probably because of his short time living in California.

The only customized thing about his condo was a little plant in the planting box under the window. I squinted and identified the plant as moon lace.

As I began to pull my car away from the block of condos my curiosity got the best of me, so I readjusted my car for it to be slightly more out of sight and watched.

Percy knocked on the door, which rubbed me as strange. He hadn't mentioned a roommate, and nearly all of his old high school friends still remained in New York.

Then my questions were answered as the door swung open. After squinting I was able to identify a beautiful red-head had swung the door open.

From afar I could see a nest of crazy red curls. The redhead looked concerned as she asked Percy something, but he just shrugged.

Then she pulled him into a kiss.
