Don't Threaten Me With A Good Time
Oof ,so basically I looked up "Voltron Legendary Defender" on Sound cloud and it gave me a playlist of AMAZING songs! This was one of them and I think it fits well with the plot of Vld. Again, I apologize in advance if there are any short chapters, I'm trying to have at least 1000 words on every chapter. I really hope I can do that and make you guys happy!!
also, I wont be online for awhile. Idk when I'm coming back but I might update every now and then who knows. I think I need a break from social media and YouTube for a bit, maybe just unplug and tune out the world and set myself straight. I hope you guys understand, I also hope you enjoy this extra long chapter. Thank you so much for all the support this book has been getting, I highly appreciate all of your amazing comments and all the votes!
Keith P.O.V
It was about 3 in the morning, Keith couldn't sleep. He felt tired, but everytime he closed his eyes, he thought he heard horrific screams. He looked at the ceiling of the cave and back at the fire. It was still burning. Keith had been placing small pieces of wood in the fire to keep it going but he never intended on staying up this late. Keith quickly but quietly crept out of his sleeping bag and walked outside.
It was beautiful, the leaves on the branches illuminated the scenery. The red and green hue of the galaxy was absolutely marvelous! Keith inhaled and exhaled deeply. It was calming almost, the atmosphere felt empty almost like the universe knew something was missing from somewhere. After 15-20 minutes, Keith stood up and walked over to the red lion. It was sitting in an upright position, As soon as Keith stood within a 7-8 foot radius, the once dull, yellow eyes soon illuminated and granted Keith entry. Keith rummaged through boxes and bags when he found the communicators that immediately connected to another paladins' location. He carefully picked up the pastel green communicator, the color was close to faded and the screen was a bit cracked but, it'll have to do for now.
"Well, if this doesn't work, I have no clue what will."
Keith muttered, half to himself, and half to the red lion. He hesitantly turned on the communicator and rebooted it, making sure it was completely refreshed before he locked on to Katie's location. She had recently told him that Pidge was just a nickname given to her by Matt when they where little. He was a bit surprised, it wasn't all that long ago when she finally confessed to the team that she was a female. He looked at the settings and rebooted the system, after about 3-4 minutes, the screen turned a pale yellow white color and he started to find Katie's coordinates. Multiple tries later, Keith finally got the communicator working. Constant error messages kept coming up and Keith nearly lost his mind trying to fix the thing. However there was one more issue, Since Katie didn't have her communicator on her, he couldn't find her coordinates. This frustrated Keith immensely, Now, he didn't have any other way of contacting her.
Keith let out a frustrated sigh and headed back to the cave. Before he did, he pulled out his knife and examined it carefully. For the rest of the night, he looked at the knife. Not knowing what else to do with the time, he started created more spears.
TIME LAPSE 6:21 am
Matt P.O.V
it took Matt about 6-7 tries to fully wake up and start walking around. Keith was already awake and meandering outside the shelter.
"well, well, well, what have we here? Looks like sleeping beauty finally decided it was time to eat."
Keith tossed Matt a fruit like item and Matt looked at him in surprise and confusion.
"boda fruit."
was all Keith said to Matt before he went back to carving wood shavings off of slender branches. He bit into the fruit and winced, its bitter flavor took him by surprised. He forced down the bite of boda fruit, reminding himself it was, most likely, the last thing he was going to eat for a while. Matt continued to eat the fruit, dealing with its bitter, tangy flavor. He threw the pit into the bushes when he heard a deep growl.
"Keep your guard up."
Keith grabbed his knife and got into a battle stance as Matt peeled back the leaves gently. There sat a peculiar looking wolf creature (Kosmo, Kosmo, the space doggo)
"Aww! It's adorable! Can we keep it? Can we keep it?"
Matt pleaded like a seven year old. Keith let out a sigh as we shrugged his shoulders in defeat.
"oh well, whatever."
Keith said flatly and crossed his arms, Matt picked up the wolf gently and the wolf licked his forehead, Matt chuckled lightly and Keith gave a small smile. The wolf took one good look at Matt then at Keith, It jumped out of Matts arms and sat by Keith's feet.
"Huh, I think he likes you."
Matt smiled and looked at the wolf.
"so, should we get going? We have a lot of ground to cover."
Keith patted the dogs head and walked into the red lions open mouth. Matt shrugged, still confused on why Keith was being so distant with him. They, again, didn't know each other that well, but if they were gonna go on this expedition for who knows how long, they might as well become cool with each other.
"I already got all the supplies we carried in with us."
Matt shook his head in irritation as he followed Keith and the wolf into the lion. The cockpit was kind of disorganized, there was boxes upon boxes full of junk. Matt cringed at the thought of organizing the boxes and the contents in them.
"What are you staring at?"
Keith snapped and Matt blinked, He shrugged his shoulders and laughed nervously as Keith rolled his eyes. Matt eventually fell asleep on the floor as Keith stayed awake and piloted the lion and directed it towards their next destination.
Back At The Castle
10:50 p.m
Lance P.O.V
Lance couldn't sleep, he was to exhausted and he felt sick. It had only been about 2 days since Keith and Matt left to go find Pidge. He wondered if they would return with Pidge, or empty handed. A thought crept in, would if they never returned. If Pidge went missing what are the chances Keith and Matt got lost, or worse. A knock on Lances door snapped him from his thoughts and back into reality.
"Thought you needed some company."
Hunk walked into the room and sat on the floor. Lance sat up and crossed his arms and legs.
"I don't need any company."
He hadn't meant to be so harsh. Hunk had been his best friend ever since they were cargo pilots back at the Garrison. Hunks gaze didn't look hurt or offended, but almost sympathetic and clouded with worry.
"What?! Don't get all soft with me Hunk, so if that's all you came in here to do then you can just-"
"Look, I'm just as upset and nervous as you are. I understand how you feel ,completely, I only came in here to ask if you wanted to talk about anything. You stormed off when Allura considered getting a new paladin for the green lion."
Lance unfolded his arms and let his shoulders relax, It wasn't Hunks fault that Pidge had gone missing, Lance should get mad at the team when what happened 2 days ago, the team could fix nor prevent.
"I-I don't know...It's just...it isn't the same without either of them..."
Lance trailed off there was another thought that nagged in the back of his mind. Hunk obviously knew this because he was giving Lance the "go on" look.
"What!? That's all!"
Lance snapped, Hunk sighed and stood up.
"Look, Lance, you can't lie to me. I'll back off. Just know you can talk to me whenever, ok?"
Hunk put a hand on Lances shoulder and gave him a warm smile, Lance smiled back and let out a forced sigh.
"Thanks bud, and I will..."
Both Hunk and Lance knew very well he wouldn't but it was nice to know that Hunk understood and bothered to listen to Lances quote "inessive whining" Hunk walked out the door and lance was still, laying in bed awake. One thought kept coming back to him but Lance refused to believe what his brain, and heart, told him.
