Ch. 36 The Come and Go Room

[Revisions: Wednesday, July 17, 2024]

Basil arrived at the Library two hours later with Marcus and Adrian since it was Study Hall. He rubbed his shoulder, feeling sore since he didn't expect Quidditch to be tough. His bright green eyes sparkled when he spotted Draco and their friends sitting at their usual table.

"Thanks for dropping me off! I had so much fun training with you guys for the Quidditch Tournament. Let me know when we have to go train again!" Basil smiled while waving goodbye to Marcus and Adrian.

"Yeah! I will do that. Have a good Study Hall session." Marcus warmly smiled while waving goodbye to Basil. He and Adrian turned and walked toward the fifth-year students.

Draco looked forward and smiled when he spotted Basil. "Basil!" he shouted, causing Madam Pince to silence him.

Basil approached the table and sat down between Draco and Blaise. "Hey, everyone. Sorry for being late." He put his book bag before him and pulled out his school supplies.

"Is everything alright? Blaise told me that Professor McGonagall took you and your brother out of Flying Class," Hermione said with a concerned gaze.

Basil glanced at Blaise.

Blaise innocently whistled, causing Basil to roll his bright green eyes playfully.

"Everything's alright. I'm not in trouble or anything," Basil reassured. "It turns out that Professor McGonagall, who is in charge of the Quidditch Tournament, has enlisted Harry and me to be a part of our respective Houses' Quidditch Teams." He explained.

Draco, Blaise, Theodore, and Neville looked at Basil in disbelief. Hermione raised an eyebrow, looking confused. Meanwhile, Cordelia and Daphne were shocked that a 1st-year student got approved to be on the school's Quidditch Team.

"Quidditch?" Hermione looked at her friends with a confused gaze.

"It's a popular Wizarding sport," Blaise explained. "And Hogwarts has a Quidditch Tournament with each House having their own Quidditch Team." He smiled, looking excited.

"What position will you be playing?" Draco asked, looking curious.

"I am going to be a Chaser alongside Marcus and Adrian," Basil responded.

"No wonder I saw you coming in with them," Theodore nodded.

"You do know that means you will need a professional broom," Daphne said, looking at Basil.

Basil frowned, looking worried. So far, he had been using a training broom to learn how to fly and play Quidditch.

Draco looked at Basil with a thoughtful gaze. He decided then and there to write a letter home.

'I do know that the Quidditch Tournament starts in November. And we are currently in September. So, Dad has enough time to get a new broom so Basil can easily use one for Quidditch,' Draco thought.

"Good luck! I hear that Quidditch is a very intense game," Neville stuttered.

"When's the Quidditch Tournament?" Cordelia asked.

"This November," Basil, Draco, Theodore, and Blaise responded.

"Wait! You said Harry as well," Blaise looked at Basil.

"Yeah," Basil nodded. "Marcus told me that Oliver told him that Harry will be Gryffindor's Seeker." He remembered.

"Woah!" Blaise's dark brown eyes widened.

"How is that possible?" Theodore asked with a raised eyebrow.

Everyone turned their gaze to Theodore for a further explanation of his question.

"You know he wears glasses, right?" Theodore looked at Basil, and the other male nodded in response. "So, how is he a Seeker when he has poor eyesight?" He frowned.

"Maybe Professor McGonagall will have Harry use a spell on his glasses so they won't fall," Daphne said, rubbing her chin.

"Or she can have Harry's guardian, Basil's aunt, go to a Muggle eye doctor and prescribe him sports glasses so his brother can use them during the Quidditch Tournament," Hermione commented.

"Yeah! Hermione's right. See? My girl is cute and smart, too," Blaise grinned.

Everyone except for Blaise and Hermione snickered.

"Wait! Did I say that out loud?" Blaise's dark brown eyes widened, looking at everyone, including Hermione, with a horrified expression.

Hermione blushed, looking embarrassed. She smiled softly, happy that Blaise thought she was smart and cute.

"You did say that out loud, Romeo," Theodore flicked his Muggle black pen at Blaise's forehead.

Blaise blushed, looking embarrassed.

Daphne and Cordelia looked at Hermione and winked at her, causing the female witch to blush deeper.

Blaise and Hermione turned their gaze to Basil, wanting his help.

"Guys, guys. Leave them alone. We have Study Hall, remember?" Basil reminded his friends.

Draco gave his friends a stern eye, causing everyone to stop what they were doing and start working on their assignments.

Basil eyed Hermione and remembered Blaise wanting him to check out the Come and Go Room to see if it would be an excellent place to host Hermione's twelfth birthday party.

Basil elbowed Draco, causing the other wizard to stare at him with a raised eyebrow.

"Hey. Do you want to check out the Come and Go Room with me?" Basil softly asked. "Remember, we are planning Hermione's twelfth birthday party with Blaise, Theodore, Daphne, and Cordelia distracting her." He looked at Draco.

"Ah!" Draco nodded, remembering their morning conversation. "Should we go get Marcus and Prefect Adrian?" He glanced at the two 5th-year wizards in particular.

"Yeah. I don't want us to get in trouble," Basil nodded. "Hey," he turned his gaze to his friends. "Professor Snape wanted Draco and me to meet with him in his class because he wanted us to tutor some Gryffindors in a particular Potion." He and Draco began to stand up.

"Your brother and Weasley, right?" Blaise snickered, looking at Basil and Draco with a knowing stare. He knew that the two wizards planned to check out the Come and Go Room.

"Yeah. Those two can't seem to do well in that class," Draco annoyingly rolled his grey eyes.

"We will see you guys later," Basil waved goodbye.

"Try to at least complete today's assignments before you go to sleep!" Hermione waved goodbye.

Blaise, Daphne, Cordelia, and Theodore softly snickered while waving goodbye to Basil and Draco.

"Will do!" Basil reassured while dragging Draco to the 5th-year students' table.

"Hey, Marcus! Adrian!" Basil softly shouted, grabbing the two wizards' attention.

"Hey, Bas. Draco. What's up?" Marcus and Adrian turned their gaze to Basil and Draco.

"Draco and I want to check out this Room. And I thought it would be a good idea to have a Prefect," Basil eyed Adrian. "And a strong wizard who will protect us from a nosy cat to come with us." He looked at Marcus.

Marcus turned his gaze to Adrian since he was the Slytherin Prefect.

"Aren't you Hogwarts Champion? You won't get in trouble," Adrian reassured.

"I don't know. Some people wouldn't mind getting me in trouble because of my title," Basil murmured.

"We want to check this Room out because we are planning to celebrate our friend's twelfth birthday," Draco explained. "We want to see if the place would suit us." He looked at Basil, Marcus, and Adrian.

"And what is this Room?" Marcus asked with a raised eyebrow.

"It's the Come and Go Room," Basil responded.

"Come and Go Room? Never heard of it," Adrian frowned.

"It's a hidden room that only certain people know about," Basil smirked. "And since I am Hogwarts Champion, I am allowed to know where this Room is." His bright green eyes mischievously sparkled.

Marcus and Adrian looked at each other and smiled, thinking that it was cool that they were now friends with the Hogwarts Champion.

"Alright! We'll go with you," Adrian responded, with Marcus nodding.

Basil and Draco looked at each other and smiled.

Adrian and Marcus excused themselves, leaving the Library with Basil and Draco.

"Lady Helena! Your Hogwarts Champion would like to meet with you," Basil called out.

Draco, Marcus, and Adrian stood behind Basil, watching a ghostly figure appear before them, revealing Lady Helena Ravenclaw.

"It's so cool seeing a close relative of the Hogwarts Founders standing before me," Adrian whispered, with Draco and Marcus nodding in agreement.

"Hello, Hogwarts Champion. Are you ready to see the Come and Go Room?" Lady Helena asked.

"My friends and I are ready," Basil nodded.

"Good. Follow me," Lady Helena turned around and began to escort Basil and his friends to the Come and Go Room.

Several stairs and hallways later, Lady Helena, Basil, and his friends arrived at the seventh-floor corridor. The four wizards raised an eyebrow when they saw a dead-end.

Lady Helena turned her gaze to Basil and his friends. "This Room only appears when a person is in great need of it," she explained.

Basil faced the dead-end with a determined gaze. His bright green eyes narrowed, imagining a door before him because he wanted Hermione to know how much she meant to him and their friends.

Basil's bright green eyes widened when he saw a door appear.

"And that is the Come and Go Room," Lady Helena smiled at Basil and his friends.

Basil looked at Lady Helena and wondered if it was okay to open the door. He smiled when he saw the female spirit nod. He looked at the door and walked towards it with Draco, Marcus, and Adrian following him.

"You guys ready?" Basil asked his friends while holding the doorknob.

"We're ready," Draco responded, with Marcus and Adrian nodding.

Basil opened the door and stepped inside, seeing a massive Room with a fireplace in the middle.Draco, Marcus, and Adrian stepped inside the Room and looked at their surroundings in awe.

"This Room is perfect!" Basil turned to Draco, and the two male wizards spoke in unison and smiled at each other.
