As all the players started arriving at the MI camp this year so much has changed and yet everything is still the same.
It was just a mere captaincy change for some, while for a few it was a big shift in the dynamics.
As the first practice session was arranged Hardik found himself fitting in the captain duties and meeting all the players.
As he slided past a group to a familiar figure standing his eyes twinkled.
"Jassi" He yelled excitedly near his ear and back hugged him.
"How are you Hardik?" Jassi asked softly.
"Seems like you didn't miss me at all" Hardik mumbled.
"Atleast one of us has to behave like a human" Jassi laughed.
"You aren't mad at me?" Hardik's fear clearly showing up on his face as the question slipped out of his mouth.
"For what Hardik? Did you spray paint my new shoes? Added yellow glitters to my white t shirt? Tell me!" Jassi got horrified at all the possibilities he could think of.
"No, no, no..about the captaincy thing"
"Are you mad? Wait that isn't even a question."
"Hey, I am serious Jass."
"You and serious in one sentence. Wow." Jassi fake gasped.
"Will you answer!" Hardik said annoyingly.
"No" Jassi smiled.
"Just that?" Hardik said being disappointed. He expected atleast a paragraph full of explaination.
"I don't think there's any need to justify it. I trust you."
Before they could continue their conversations the juniors pulled them apart taking them into different groups while Jassi passed an assuring smile to Hardik.
Jassi was now leading the bowling unit, mentoring the juniors. Hardik, the captain of the team, leading from the front.
"Does it ever drives you crazy, just how fast the night changes?"
10 years ago neither of them thought that they would be the seniors where they once entered as kids. Everything was under going drastic changes, will nothing be the same?
Hardik couldn't help but feel a pang of nostalgia as he and Jassi once used to be the juniors of the team, looking upto their Rohit bhaiya and now they were the once being looked up at by the new kids of the team. All of this came with a set of responsibilities and challanges.
As Rohit finally arrived at the training session Hardik and Jassi's eager eyes flew towards their Rohit bhaiya but
he was soon swarmed by the juniors of the team who crashed him into a hug.
After he was finally free from the juniors an usually silent Hardik and an over excited Jassi ran upto him.
"Hi Rohit bhaiya" Jassi said jumping into hug while a silent realisation hit Hardik of how he could not call him Cap Ro anymore.
"Hi bRo" He joined the hug slowly.
"God! The captaincy is making you a civilised human Harry." Jassi wiped his fake tears.
"bRooo" Harry whined.
"Jass, don't say like that." Rohit said ruffling his kid's hairs.
"Um..Jassi bhaiya, will you bowl to me?" Tilak said coming up shyly.
"Go, your kiddos are calling you now." Rohit felt a bit unusual at the new scenes.
"Hardik bhai" yelled Ishan.
Rohit stood there alone watching his two kids helping their kiddos. There's a reason he acts like a grandfather at times, coz maybe he is technically one now.
Before any of them could let the storm settle within they were out on the field fulfilling their duties.
Hardik being the ball of energy was not bouncing around but instead slumped into deep thoughts because of the negativity that he was receiving from wherever he went.
Even though, they were aware of the fact that it was not just a team, but a family but the relations within could go for a toss because of some sudden big changes.
That's exactly what was happening in the Mumbai Indians family. None spoke, but all knew. Things were changing.
