The Silent Flower
I don't own Naruto. I hope you've enjoyed the story this far. Thank you for reading.
A sigh escaped Hinata's lips. It had only been a few days and she missed him so very dearly. She looked out her window and longed for his presence. She glanced back towards the closet and her eyes narrowed. Why would Madara plan for this? What could have put him in the mindset that she would need that armor once more? The land had been filled with peace, although Daisuke and Butsuma hadn't been found yet. 'Maybe that's it...' she mused to herself. She forced herself to her feet and refrained from grunting as little Hana kicked her in the rib. Hinata huffed in irritation if Madara thought he was going to abandon her with an infant child, he was sorely mistaken.
Her eyes softened. She knew he wasn't going to come back, after all this happened in the past of her own time. He wasn't supposed to come back. She sighed and made her way out of the room, only to come face to face with Mito. "Hinata, dear..." she chastised and Hinata rolled her eyes. "Please don't start on the whole 'you shouldn't be walking around' bit... I want to visit my family and no one is going to stop me from doing so." Hinata said and Mito's eyes softened. "Hinata... are you sure?" Mito asked and Hinata nodded. "Yes, I would like to borrow a horse if I could, that way I could go alone." She said and Mito frowned. "Alright... follow me then." Mito whispered and grabbed her hand.
"Please don't tell Hashirama or Tobirama that I let you go..." she begged and Hinata smiled at her. "Don't worry, I won't. And im going to see my husband and try and force him to come home." Hinata said with a small smile and Mito frowned. "Do you think that is a good idea?" she asked and Hinata nodded. "If he thinks he is going to miss seeing little Hana being born, I think I may have to kill him." Hinata said sternly, but Mito could tell she was joking. Mito figured the stern tone was for the fact little Hana had karate kicked her in the ribs once more.
Mito led her down to the stables and led out a solid black mare for her to ride. "Thank you Mito..." Hinata said as the redhead helped her mount the horse. "Just come back to me safe, will you?" she asked and Hinata nodded. "I promise." Hinata said before she forced the horse to start walking. "See you later... hopefully he will come home with me." She said and Mito nodded. Hinata looked out to the skyline as the horse trotted closer and closer to the wooded area. She came upon this area where there was a horse drawn cart splattered in blood. Her eyes narrowed and she focused her chakra into her hands, this small change caused the horse to look at her and huff as if warning her that she had startled her. Hinata heard movement from within the cart and she narrowed her eyes.
"Come out of there now." She demanded, fully prepared to strike down whoever it was. A young fox kit scurried from the cart with a loaf of bread in its mouth and she sighed in relief. She nudged for the horse to trot faster and it did so with a huff. The path was slightly longer than she remembered, but she supposed that was because she were on horseback and not racing her lover through the woods. She glanced at the compound as she came into view and her heart thudded in her chest. She didn't even know if she should actually be here anymore. She came upon the family shrine and she carefully dropped off of the horse. She felt the urge to flare out her chakra to smack at Madara's own chakra, but she knew he would already know she was here. His sensory skills were unimaginable, so he had to know.
She glanced around and looked to see if he were going to come out. She wondered if he honestly even wanted to see her. She shook that thought out of her head because she knew he loved her. He had to be missing her as much as she missed him. She looked around their old home and he didn't emerge. She turned back to the shrine and glared at the building. She started hand signs to flare out her chakra, but before she could even get to the last sign, a set of lips found the nape of her neck. "Don't you even dare." His deep voice chuckled into her neck. The feeling it gave her made her blush a dark red. "My dear, what on earth made you travel all this way out here?" he asked and her eyes softened. "I want you to come home, Madara..." she pleaded softly and he frowned at her. "That is not my home Hinata..." he said and she frowned at him.
"Madara please, I just want us to be happy for a little longer." She whispered and held out her hand to him. A smirk crossed his lips and he grasped her hand softly. "I suppose I could return for a little while." He sighed and offered her a smile. She smiled at him softly and she closed the distance between them, her arms wrapping around him as tightly as she could. "I love you, Madara." She whispered and he smiled and brushed her hair away from her face. He placed a gentle kiss upon her forehead and lifted her up carefully to set her back atop the horse. "Let's go then." He said and nudged the horse to follow him. Hinata watched him out of the corner of her eyes.
"What are your plans my love?" she asked and he blinked over at her in confusion. "Why don't you want to stay with Hashirama?" she asked and he shrugged. "You and I both know we aren't welcome there by anyone except for him and Mito." He said with a slight sneer and she nodded. "Why is my armor set aside for me?" she asked and he shrugged. "I figured one day you would need it once more." He said and she nodded. She understood what he meant without him actually having to say the words. There was going to be a revolt and they could both feel it, although she had no idea who was going to revolt. She glanced at him and his eyes darted to her.
"Do you have another question, my love?" he asked, his voice held a sharper tone. This tone was daring her to ask about it. A frown crossed her lips, but she shook her head. She glanced up at the sky and furrowed her brows. She supposed his threatening tone was enough for her to understand. She felt like her whole world was crashing down around her, and he was doing nothing to hold it up, rather he was kicking the support out from under her. She felt the tears well up in her eyes and she bit her lip. She tried to keep him from seeing her cry but once the horse stopped moving and before she realized what was happening his thumb trailed over her cheek. "Don't cry my love, I promise I would never hurt you." He whispered and she looked over at him with saddened eyes.
"These hormones are getting the better of you dear, let's get you home." He chuckled and she nodded. They travelled in silence the entire way back to the village. The gates came into view and he stopped. He turned to her and his eyes held a serious gaze. "Hinata, can I ask you one question..." she tilted her head in confusion, but nodded. "No matter what happens, or what I do..." he began, but paused and furrowed his brows. "Do you promise to always be by my side and never hate me?" he asked and she smiled softly.
"You're the only thing I have here, other than baby Hana." She said and he frowned, that hadn't answered his question in the slightest. "But... yes. My life is yours." She said and he nodded, the serious look not once leaving his gaze. "Alright, good to know." He said and led her and the horse back to the stables. He helped her off the mare and she smiled up at him. He looked down at her and was shocked by the look in her eyes. He was visibly shocked by it, and she noticed this. He grabbed her hand and held it tightly. The look in her eyes was all he needed to see to actually know she was going to blindly follow him to hell and back.
"What will become of baby Hana?" he asked and she tilted her head to the side. "What do you mean, dear?" she asked and he turned to face her once more. "If anything ever happens to us? Have you ever thought about that?" he asked and she frowned. "I honestly have not..." she whispered and he smiled softly. "Well I suppose we should get our affairs in order then, shall we?" he asked and she nodded. She understood the need to do it and soon. They felt as if the entire village was plotting against them. They made their way up to the hokage tower, where Madara knew Hashirama was most likely spending his time.
They traversed the stairs of the tower, only for the guards at the door to stop them in their tracks. "What business do you scum have here?" one of the guards demanded and Hinata watched the muscles in Madara's face twitch. He was honestly trying very hard not to strangle the man. Hinata tapped her pinky finger on his wrist and he peered down at her from the corner of his eyes. Her also stoic face surprised him. Her eyes locked on the man before them, the one who had just spoke. Her eyes spun dangerously and he reached to grasp his blade, but the door opened behind him and he scrambled to get out of the way of the Hokage. "Hinata... are you alright?" Hashirama asked as he closed the door behind him. "I felt your chakra and... came... to investigate." Hashirama began softly as he turned to face her, only seeing Madara there as well. "Madara... I couldn't sense you." He said with a bright smile.
"How are you my friend?" he asked, but his smile faded as soon as he realized the two of them were not sharing his upbeat mood. "What's wrong you two?" he asked with a sullen tone. "Apparently we are the scum of the village and aren't we aren't welcome here." Madara said and Hinata frowned. Hashirama's eyes narrowed and he resisted the urge to get angry. "Who said this?" he asked and Hinata rolled her head to glance at the guards behind him. Hashirama frowned deeply and turned to the man and his partner. "You will meet me in my office when I am finished talking to my friends." He snapped and the men nodded.
"Hinata, Madara, please follow me." Hashirama said and motioned for them to follow him into the room he had just come from. Once they were all in and he had shut the door behind him, he turned to his two friends with a grim look on his face. "Are you two ok?" he asked and Hinata frowned. "No..." Madara said and Hashirama's eyes shone with sadness as he looked from one of them to the other. "I am so sorry, both of you... I beg forgiveness..." he pleaded and Hinata held out a hand to him and he took it within both of his own. "Hashirama... we need to discuss something with you, but I want you to understand it has nothing to do with you." She said and he nodded hesitantly.
"We need godparents for Hana." Madara said and Hashirama's eyes went wide. "What are you talking about..." he began but Hinata smiled sadly. "We have discussed it, and we have decided that we want you to be her godfather, Hashirama." Hinata said softly and Hashirama shook his head, not understanding what brought up the conversation in the first place. "No... I need you to stop for a moment, and... please just listen to me..." he began and they watched him with sad eyes as he tried to process the information he was being given. "Hashirama-" "I said No. I said let me speak, and let me try to understand." The normally joyful man snapped angrily.
The tears in his eyes screamed exactly how he felt. He couldn't understand why they were bringing this up. "I just... I don't understand... I thought this was what you both wanted? This village... it wouldn't be here if it hadn't been for you two..." he said and Hinata smiled sadly. "Hashirama... we did want this, we wanted to be happy. We are just trying to prepare for what may happen..." Hinata began and Hashirama took in her every word. "We want this... but this village does not want us. What if someone decides to attempt to rid this world of one or both of us?" she asked and Hashirama's eyes became increasingly sullen.
"What if we fall in battle, or fall ill? What will become of our daughter Hashirama?" Madara asked and the dark haired man broke his eyes from theirs. "Am I supposed to let my infant daughter fall into the hands of an orphanage? Or worse?" Madara asked and Hashirama shook his head. "No, no I understand... forgive me." He began and Hinata patted the top of his hand that held hers ever so gently. "We trust you, Hashirama... we trust you to treat our daughter like your own child if anything were ever to happen to us. We know you will be the one to love and cherish her." Madara said and Hashirama offered a smile to the two of them. "Alright... if and only if, something ever happens to the two of you, I will take care of little Hana." He said and Hinata pulled her hands from his grasp and opened her arms as an offering to hug him, which he took.
Hinata could feel his shoulders shaking ever so slightly, signaling that he was crying, or about to cry. "Hashirama..." she spoke softly and he pulled away from her. "We aren't saying that we are going to die, we just want to be sure that if something ever does happen, she will be safe." Hinata whispered as she reached to wipe away the tears that streamed down his face. He placed his hands over each of hers that were on his cheeks as he continued to cry in silence. "I just feel... like this is a goodbye... this feels so strange..." he managed, his voice trembling. "Oh, Hashirama..." she whispered as she rubbed his tears away with her thumbs.
Madara tapped Hashirama on the shoulder, and the man released Hinata's hands. Madara embraced his friend tightly, surprising the brunette male. "This isn't goodbye, yet." Madara said, a taunting tone to his voice that made Hashirama crack a smile and embrace his friend back tightly. "Shut up Madara." He sniffled and slowly pulled away from the dark eyed man. "You promise you aren't going to leave me?" he said and the two of them smiled at him. "We promise." They said in unison and he sighed in slight relief. "Well, we will see you later, Hashirama. We have preparations to make, seeing as it should only be a few more days now before Hana gets here." Madara said with a smile, and Hashirama smiled back, but as soon as they turned their backs to him his eyes narrowed.
'There is definitely something wrong here.' He thought with a deep frown.
-:-:-:- Six days later... -:-:-:-
Hinata huffed as she tried to ignore the pain she was in. Her angry eyes landed on the ebony eyed man who was staring at her in a mixture of amusement and awe. "I will kill you..." she hissed in between puffs of air. He smiled at her lovingly and brushed the hair away from her forehead. He dabbed at her sweaty forehead with a towel as the medic moved her legs into position. "Alright, Hinata, when I say push, I want you to start pushing." She said and Hinata glared at her as she tried to even out her breathing, but was unable to do so. That glare then focused on the man that had put her in this predicament. "Bastard." She snarled and he smirked.
"You said you wanted this. You said you wanted a family with me." He said amused and her lip curled up in rage, but before she could actually get a word out, another contraction hit and she wailed in pain. "Alright start pushing." The woman said and Hinata pushed with all her might, Madara's hand was a victim of her struggle and he winced as she squeezed tighter. She released a yell of pain as she stopped pushing and struggled to catch her breath. "Ok, lets try again." The medic said and Hinata struggled to push once more. They repeated the cycle a few more times before the medic told her one last push and it would all be over.
Hinata panted as she tried to push once more. She was just so tired now that she didn't feel like she had the strength to do it anymore. Madara squeezed her hand lightly and smiled at her encouragingly. She took a deep breath and cried out as she gave it one last good push, but nothing was heard after the woman announced that she could stop pushing. "I've got her, Hinata..." the woman said and rushed out of the room, but three more medics rushed in and began working on Hinata, because as soon as the other woman had rushed out, Hinata's head had lolled to the side.
Madara panicked and looked down to where the medics were struggling with a green glow. His eyes widened as he saw the blood that was spattered all over the floor by them. "Is she going to be ok?" he asked frantically and they shushed him and kept on working. He rushed out of the room to see that Hashirama and Mito held his daughter with saddened eyes. "Madara..." Hashirama began and Madara narrowed his eyes at him. "May I hold my daughter?" he asked and Hashirama frowned and held the infant out to him carefully. Madara's eyes softened as his eyes landed on the tiny infant. Thick locks of inky black hair covered the top of the little girl's head.
Madara put his back against the wall and nuzzled the tiny infant. His shoulders began to shake softly and Hashirama frowned as he crouched next to his dark haired friend. Hashirama draped an arm around his friend's shoulder as he started crying. "I'm so sorry Madara..." Hashirama whispered as he hugged his friend closer to him. "M-my poor Hana..." he sobbed and Hashirama's heart felt like it was breaking. He looked at Madara who was gently caressing his daughter's cheek. "I just wanted... I just wanted my family..." Madara sobbed as he clutched the infant closer to him. Eventually his sobs died down, but the tears continued to fall over his cheeks. He didn't know how long he had sat there against the wall with the silent infant, but it felt like an eternity.
"Madara... Hinata is awake and stable..." Mito called from the doorway. Madara blinked a few times to try and pull himself back to reality. He slowly made his way to stand, the child still clutched tightly to his chest as he did so. He bumbled towards the door of the room Hinata was in. When he looked in, she had tears in her eyes as well. "I'm so sorry Madara..." she whispered and he looked down at the child in his grasp. The infant had begun to grow slightly cold. "This... this wasn't you..." he managed as he approached her. "Would you like to see her, before they take her away?" he asked, his eyes downcast the sullen shadow in his eyes was too much for her to handle.
She reached for her daughter and he handed her the infant. "Little Hana..." Hinata whispered, the tears streaming down her face faster than before. "How did this happen?" Hinata asked in a strangled cry as she tried to hand the baby off to anyone who would take her. Mito took the child from her and made her way out of the room. "I think we should give them some space." Hashirama called and all of the medics left the room swiftly as Madara sat on the bed with Hinata, his head in his hands. The room was silent except for their cries of agony. Madara crawled up into the bed with her and wrapped his arms around her waist and buried his face in the side of her neck. Hinata hugged him tightly and sobbed into his hair.
"How did this happen, Madara?" she sobbed and he shook his head. "I don't know..." he whispered. Hinata cried herself to sleep eventually. When she woke, she was alone in the cold room. She rubbed her eyes then hugged herself tightly. She looked around and saw that there was no one else in the room. She forced herself up into a sitting position then tossed her legs over the side of the bed. She wanted to go home. This place was hell.
"Hinata?" Hashirama called out to her and she looked up at him with sullen eyes. "How long have I been asleep?" she asked and he frowned. "Two days... you suffered from severe blood loss and they had to sew you up, but the amount of blood lost caused you to become anemic." He said and she nodded. "Will you help me get home?" she asked and he nodded. He helped her dress herself and he proceeded to be her strength as she attempted to walk. Eventually she fell against him and couldn't do it anymore. He lifted her onto his back and carried her the rest of the way to her home. When he opened the door and set her down, his eyes became pained as they walked into the room that was supposed to be Hana's. His heart ached for Hinata in that moment.
Everything that was meant for Hana to come home to was destroyed. The crib lay in pieces, her toys and blankets strewn across the room haphazardly. There was a hole in the wall and blood smeared across it. Hinata knew it had to be Madara's. she knew he must have been so angry and hurt that he had to vent somewhere. Her dull eyes grasped at the tiny blanket nearest her. "Hashirama... can I have my room back at your home?" she asked softly and he nodded, he wasn't going to make her stay here.
There was no logical reason he could force her to.
Hinata sat in her room of the senju home, staring at the closet doors as she had done every day since she had moved back in. Two weeks, and yet still no Madara. She missed her lover. She missed him dearly. She would sit here, and wait. She would wait until he needed her. And then she would come to help him or embrace him. Whichever way he decided to come back to her. She walked over to the closet and slipped the doors open. She stripped down and pulled the white tunic on and then the black pants. Then the armor. She peered up into the top of the closet and rested her hand on the blade for a moment before she decided to pull it out as well.
Her eyes drifted down to the name engraved into the blade and her soul felt at peace, if only for a second.
'Tsubaki.'

Hashirama paced his office in a slight panic. What had he done? Had he actually done the right thing? He wasn't sure anymore. A darkness fell over him and he looked out of the window of the hokage tower. A deep frown forced its way to his lips and he sighed deeply. It was time. He removed the hat and cloak of the Hokage, setting them on his desk. He then proceeded to walk over to the small wardrobe nearest the window and he threw it open. His armor hung there, begging to be used.
He pulled the armor on and secured it tightly. He reached in and grabbed the large scroll that lay against the wall of the wardrobe. He lifted the strap and tossed it over his shoulder, securing it in place. His brother frowned at him from the doorway. "Did I do what was right, brother?" he asked and the white haired man frowned deeply at him. Tobirama shook his head and Hashirama sighed. "I feel ike I've done something so terrible and wrong." He whispered and Tobirama frowned and placed a hand on his brother's shoulder. "You did what you thought was best, just as you are about to do once more. It might not feel like the right thing to do at the moment, but in the future you will see that you did the right thing." Tobirama reassured him and he nodded.
"Then why do I feel so despicable and disgusting?" he sighed as he walked out of the room and out to where he knew Madara was waiting on him. "Keep things held together here, Tobirama. If Hinata figures out what is going on, she may try to interfere." Hashirama said and Tobirama nodded. Hashirama vanished from sight, and so did Tobirama. Tobirama made his way to the Senju compound, where he found no trace of Hinata, but more so... two familiar faces.
"Father, and Daisuke..." Tobirama began, eyeing the two of them. "Of what do I owe the pleasure?"
