The Heart's Desire

I do not own Naruto.

Hinata sat beside the grave markers of the beloved Uchiha family. She was angry, but she also felt something else she wasn’t quite sure what to call it… Serene? Maybe it was that she felt serene… Maybe she’d just become used to the hellish lifestyle she’d been dropped into and had decided to lose what little of her mind she had left. She ran her fingers over Izuna’s name and frowned. “Forgive me… I tried to help but I feel as if I made things worse.” She whispered to his stone. She missed him dearly… his laugh, his smiles. She missed it all… she wondered where she had actually gone wrong in her attempt to help. However, pondering her wrongs weren’t going to bring back the Uchiha…

She glanced up at the early morning sky and frowned deeply. She knew she should probably go see Katsuyu soon, but she wasn’t looking forward to the emotional beat down that the slug was going to give her. She stood from her place and looked behind her to see Madara watching her intently from the window of their home. Her heart fluttered at his intense gaze. ‘He loves me?’ she thought as she saw the small smile cross his lips at her noticing him. She still couldn’t believe he had confessed to her… she had thought she was the only one who felt that way about him but he proved her wrong. Her feelings were returned.

Her eyes became downcast and she sighed. ‘Now if only I hadn’t been such a massive failure to his family…’ she thought sadly. She glanced back over to him once more and offered a small smile. He watched her intently as she walked towards him. “Hinata.” He greeted and she smiled back at him. “I have to go see Lady Katsuyu.” She said and he nodded. “Of course my dear. Lead the way.” He said and she blinked at him in surprise.
“I wish to see you make it there unharmed love, I wouldn’t be a very good lover if I didn’t take care of you.” He said and offered her a hand. “Of course…” She whispered and looked at the sunrise. “When shall we head out?” he asked and she bit her lip lightly in thought. “I suppose we could head out soon. Most shinobi wouldn’t bother us around this time of morning.” She said and he nodded.

Hinata motioned for him to follow her and he did. He followed her straight to the waterfall that sat upon the lake. It was a beautiful sight and he was caught off guard when she walked right into the waterfall. He rushed to try and follow her in but when he got to the inside of the waterfall, there was a cavern but no Hinata. This made him panic, but there wasn’t much else he could do, seeing as her chakra had vanished and a more powerful one emanated from the waterfall now and it slightly eased his panic. He sat under the waterfall and awaited her return.

Hinata sighed and she looked behind her and saw the waterfall had closed behind her. She looked to see that Katsuyu was watching her intently. “Your light is returning.” She said and Hinata made a move to smile but the sharp cutting words of the slug killed her smile. “That is nothing to smile about.” Her cold tone confused  Hinata. “ I thought you wanted me to go down the right path though, lady Katsuyu…” she managed but the slug just made an aggravated clicking noise.  “The point of it was to go down the right path from the beginning, not to turn around last moment and go the right path once you’ve found out you’ve screwed up.” Another slug hissed and Hinata glared at the slug.

“If you have all the answers, please do tell me how to fix this mess. If you don’t I am going to have to ask you to shut up. If you cant tell me exactly what move to make to keep from screwing up, please… please do not even speak as if you are the all holy and never do any wrong. Because, in my eyes, if you are cursing my name for the moves I make, but wont even offer to help me in any way, I don’t want to hear a single word of your unneeded input.” Hinata snapped and Katsuyu watched her in silence for a moment. The gaze was cold and Hinata knew she was about to receive yet another Slug Berating session and she was going to have none of it. “Before you even start this rant… Screw you Katsuyu. You’re no help to me anymore anyways.” Hinata hissed and The icy glare of the slug pierced through her.

“Is that so?” she asked and Hinata nodded. “I see. Then farewell Hinata. I sincerely hope you grow to regret this.” Katsuyu said and Hinata sneered at her. “Even if I were on my death bed, I would never regret telling you off. You’ve caused me unnecessary pain and suffering, only for you to act all high and mighty like you have never done anything wrong.” Hinata sneered and Katsuyu watched her in interest. ‘She’s become her title. A wolf. The Okami itself.’ Katsuyu thought but only huffed in response. “We shall soon see if you regret this or not, Okami.” Katsuyu said with no emotion in her voice whatsoever.

“It’s Okami now is it?’ Hinata asked and the slug just stared in silence. “I suppose that is my answer then. I shall embrace the name. After all, the mighty wolf has no use for a puny slug on her back now does she?” Hinata said, not even turning back to meet the slug’s gaze. She strolled out of the cave and the angry rush of chakra forever sealed the cave behind her. She knew she was never going to be allowed back into the cave, and at the moment she honestly didn’t care. Her eyes clashed with another set of ebony orbs and a smile found her lips, her chest feeling light. The concern in those eyes was everything she ever needed and wanted in life. They weren’t that sort of concerned where it felt belittling… It was that sort of concern where she felt like she were the only one he was concerned for.

She grasped his hand firmly and he tilted his head to show his confusion. “The Slug is no longer on our side, so from here on out it is you and I.” she said and he pursed his lips in confusion. “Why }{,   t?” he asked, his eyes showing his concern but now it was intensified. “Madara… I can see now, I don’t need her ability to help me see.” She whispered and he nodded. “Forgive me, dear. I worry for your health is all. Was this truly the right thing to do?” He asked and she nodded. “I feel like it was. She was always berating me and telling me all the things I did wrong, but she would never offer a solution to fit her tastes. She would let me crash and burn then give her opinion on how I went wrong. I feel like it was time for us to part ways.” She said and he nodded in agreement.

They walked out from under the waterfall, only for their senses to go on high alert halfway through. A shuriken shot past Madara’s face and the only reason he was able to avoid it was because of those glowing red eyes. The chakra rushed to hers in a manner similar to activating the Byakugan she no longer held and she felt the rush of power of the Sharingan. The world looked so much different to her now and she held her surprise back.  She looked over at Madara who had pulled the fan from his back. He meant business and she knew she had to as well. She looked around her, the colors blurring into one another. How on earth he could see clearly with this activated, she would probably never know. She saw the kunai fly before it actually even had and she’d countered it just as it was set free.

This was incredible…

The Shinobi landed in front of her and she motioned for Madara that she was fine. Her eyes flicked to the man’s arm and she knew which way he was going to move just from the preliminary spasm of the muscle. That light went on in her mind and she understood how Kakashi could mimic other shinobi now. If you had the Sharingan it seemed simple enough to predict the movements of your enemy just due to the slightest of movements. A small smirk adorned her lips. This is what would keep her alive in this time of war. Another twitch of the left arm and she struck swiftly, removing the man’s arm with her blade. With a scream of agony he hit the ground and she tapped her blade against the side of his neck. She used the blade to force his face up to her and she cocked her head to the side in confusion. “Well… so much for three-hundred and sixty degree vision.” She mumbled looking at the man. “A Hyuuga?” Madara asked Incredulously and Hinata crouched beside the man after she sheathed her blade. The man’s eyes went wide with fear as she smirked and rolled her eyes. “No.” She sighed and sniffed then spit into the man’s eyes and used her palm to rub the white out of them.

“Imposters. They’re dyeing their eyes.” She said and the man began stumbling over his words. “Who put you all up to this?” She asked and the dark eyed man’s eyes filled with a more intense fear. “H-Hagoromo.” He stammered and she raised a brow. Madara scoffed and stood. “It seems they’ve made their first move.” He said and she frowned. “So now not only are we on our own, but both the Senju and Hagoromo are after our heads.” She hissed softly and the man before her trembled. She cut him down then turned to Madara who had cut down about seven more while she was admiring the abilities of her eyes. A blush covered her cheeks and he chuckled despite their newfound situation. “Hinata, you have got to learn to keep up. These eyes aren’t all that cool.” He chuckled and she nodded.

“Sorry. They’re new to me is all.” She whispered and he ruffled her hair with a small smile. “Now, lets go pay the Hagoromo a visit, shall we?” he asked and she nodded. He took off running and she followed him swiftly, however neither of them knew what they were getting into by going after the rumors of the Hagoromo.

Hashirama and Tobirama exchanged glances as they watched their father hobble around the room on his cane. “So what has happened while I was out?” he asked and Hashirama frowned. “Tajima Uchiha and Izuna Uchiha were both felled.” Tobirama said and their father nodded. “I remember Tajima, but the boy must have been killed recently. What of Madara and his wench?” He asked and Hashirama frowned. “Hinata and Madara still live, however it has been three months since we have last seen hide nor hair of them and we have no idea what they are planning as of this time.” Hashirama said and Tobirama nodded. Butsuma pursed his lips and he made a motion for them to sit. “Where is that creep the artist?” Butsuma asked and the brothers frowned. “We honestly do not know…” Tobirama said and Butsuma sighed and motioned for the maid by the door to come closer to him. “Go retrieve Daisuke, wherever the fool might be.” He said to her and she nodded and took off running from the room.

“I would prefer if you gave me my position as clan head back, Hashirama.” Butsuma said, his tone demanding. However, Hashirama was going to have none of it. “No.” He said and Tobirama’s eyes went wide as he stared at his older brother. “You are going to deny me my own title?” he asked and Hashirama nodded. “Seeing as you were out of commission for almost four months, the clan voted me head. They decided they needed a Neutral leader, rather than a vindictive one.” Hashirama said and Butsuma lunged for his eldest son. Hashirama grabbed his father by the shoulders gently and his normally soft features went stoic and the force that was pressing down upon his father took his breath away.

“The clan wanted a compassionate and strong leader and now they have one, father.” Hashirama said softly and Butsuma managed to meet his eldest son’s eyes. “Fine… You win my son. But be wary. The clan will not accept any screw ups.” Butsuma managed and the force from his son’s chakra vanished. “Father, the only screw ups they refuse to endure anymore are your own. Our family is tired of fighting and we just want peace.” Hashirama said and Butsuma scowled at him. Butsuma knew he was outmatched. When he had fallen comatose he had been at a higher stature than Hashirama in power, or so he thought. Perhaps his eldest son had just grown tired of being pushed around by his father.

Tobirama watched his elder brother in awe. Hashirama had never stood up to their father in this manner before… Perhaps Hashirama was truly tired. Tobirama frowned as he followed his brother out of their father’s medical room. “Hashirama…” Tobirama began and Hashirama gave him a sideways glance. “Yes, brother?” he asked and Tobirama stopped halfway down the hallway. “How exactly do you plan on achieving peace between the clans?” he asked and Hashirama smiled brightly at Tobirama. “Well, I plan on doing whatever it takes. If I can get other clans on our side the Uchiha will have to surrender. If not…” he said, his aura becoming saddened and dark near the end.
“If I cant get him to surrender I will kill him.”

Tobirama watched his brother in a sort of approval. “Do what you must brother, I am behind you for the majority of your decisions. I believe you have what it takes to be a great leader.” Tobirama said and opened his mouth to say something else but a scream cut him off. His brows furrowed in anger and he rushed outside to see what was going on. There was a man sitting on a tree branch as shinobi lay in wait beneath him. Tobirama rushed at the man and he vanished into the tree line. Tobirama had caught a glimpse of his chakra though so he could track him for as far as he were to run. Hashirama rushed at the shinobi he had left behind, Senju blood coating their beings. Hashirama showed no mercy as he beat the men senseless.

Tobirama fell in behind his older brother, fighting the men that had murdered their clan mates. When all the shinobi were disposed of, Hashirama and Tobirama gathered their remaining clan mates who were able to fight and took off after the man in black. When they arrived to the barren area that the man had led them to, the only ones they found were the Uchiha clan members. Hashirama saw the hatred in Tobirama’s eyes as he lunged at Hinata. She aimed a chakra filed palm at him and they began fighting it out. “My fight here was not with you!” she screeched and kicked him back away from her. “Then why are you here?!” he snarled as he picked him self up off the ground to rush at her once more. She deflected all his hits with an astonishing accuracy. Hashirama knew something had changed in her, but he couldn’t quite place it.

“Madara, where the hell did he go?” she snarled and the dark haired man hit the ground beside her as she grabbed Tobirama’s hand long enough for Madara to kick him and send him flying across the area. “I don’t know, Hinata…” Madara grumbled in irritation. “Where the hell did the Hagoromo bastards go?” an Uchiha clansman asked trotting up next to Hinata. “I don’t know, Tetsuo-san...” Hinata muttered irritatedly. She glanced at the Senju who were just as confused as they were. “I think someone is playing games.” Hinata sighed and sheathed her blade. “What do you mean?” Madara asked as he eyed the Senju, not taking a chance on letting them out of his sight for even a second.

“I think we were brought here to fight.” She said and Hashirama blinked in confusion. “What do you mean Hinata?” Hashirama called and Hinata looked over at him. “Well we were both attacked by people claiming to be Hagoromo, correct?” she asked and the Senju shook their heads. “The bastard just slaughtered our clan mates and lead us to you scum.” A Senju man hissed. Hinata turned her irate gaze on him and he froze in fear. Her blazing red eyes had him pinned in place. “I didn’t come here to fight you bastards either way?” she snarled and Madara set a hand on her shoulder, only to sling her to the ground as a Senju attacked. “What nonexistent honor!” She snapped and rolled to her feet. She looked up only to see the man was not a Senju. Nor was he Uchiha. “You creepy bastard Daisuke.” Tobirama ground out and Hinata sneered at the man. “Your father wants his place back in the clan, and I want my goddess.” The creepy male said and Hinata lunged for him. He dodged her and threw her into Tobirama who threw her into the ground and aimed a fist at her face. Her legs twisted around his arm and she propelled herself off the ground and over him.

“You bastard.” Hashirama growled as he  lunged at Daisuke. “Ah ah ah ….” The man tutted at him then vanished into the woods. “Your fight is not with me. Make peace and then return to your father.” Daisuke said and then his presence vanished completely. Madara was furious and Hashirama could see this. “Madara wait!” Hashirama called out, but the Uchiha was rushing right for him. “You let him get away, what kind of clan leader are you to let a man who murdered your clan members esccape?!” he snarled and aimed a kick for Hashirama’s head. Hashirama felt like everything was for nothing. He was trying to reason with the dark haired man before him, but he wasn’t going to have any of it. He was also mentally beating himself up for not recognizing Daisuke’s sinister chakra.

He deflected a hit from Madara only to have yet another one coming at him right after. Hashirama frowned as he watched the Uchiha pelt him relentlessly with kicks and punches that weren’t going to do very much against him. Hashirama knew he was tired. The Uchiha was worn out and everyone could see it, except the Uchiha himself. He wasn’t going to give in and Hashirama knew why. Madara wanted an end. Any means to an end would be perfect to him, even death it seemed. The Uchiha was determined, Hashirama would give him that.

Hashirama diverted his glance to Hinata, who was holding her own against his younger brother brilliantly. Her swift unforgiving palms were everywhere all at once it seemed, but Tobirama was agile and avoided each and every one of them. Hashirama couldn’t recall for how long they had been fighting, but the sun was going to start its descent soon. He looked at the bruised and beaten Madara and frowned as he slung the man to the ground for the Umpteenth time now. He got back up though, just as he did every other time. He figured it was the feminine scream of pain that did it for him. Madara’s attentions were diverted and Hashirama planted a chakra enhanced knee into Madara’s gut, which finally took him down.

“Tobirama, don’t kill her.”Hashirama ordered and looked over at the supposed Uchiha maiden. Tobirama had her face down in the ground, her arms pinned behind her back with a blade at her jugular. They were all beyond exhausted and Hashirama could tell. Tobirama was barely able to keep his grip on the girl beneath him. Hashirama could tell from her eyes, she was exhausted as well. He crouched beside the Uchiha he had just knocked the wind out of. “Madara… I want to offer you a deal.” Hashirama said and the Uchiha listened to him intently.

Hinata tried her best to listen to what they were discussing but she couldn’t hear and her eyelids were getting heavier and heavier by the second. She was so tired, but she refused to let Tobirama know this, and thus her brilliant thinking led to her continuously struggling within his grasp. “If you want me to give in, you have to do something for me.” Madara said loud enough for her to hear and she perked up and stopped struggling at this. “Alright, anything Madara.” Hashirama said, his voice genuinely excited.

“You have to kill Tobirama, or kill yourself.”

Roars of outrage emanated from all around and  Hinata was released. She hit the ground once Tobirama released her to voice his outrage at the situation. Hinata was highly confused by what was going on. All she heard were yells of anger from each and every person around her. One voice stood out above them all and she blinked in confusion at the smile that fell on the lips of the man who had just yelled for everyone to silence their yelling.

‘Hashirama?’ she thought as he pulled a kunai from his hip pouch. Her eyes went wide as he continued to speak to Madara so civilly. The blade was raised above his head and just as it was about to pierce his own abdomen, Madara’s hand grabbed Hashirama’s firmly. “You’ve proven your guts. The Uchiha will surrender. What is your idea of peace?” he asked as he gently released his grasp from Hashirama’s hands. Hashirama dropped the blade and grinned brightly, which made Hinata want to smile. His smile was so pure and contagious she didn’t understand it.

“I want what we dreamed of as children, Madara. I want the village.” He said and Madara watched him carefully. Madara’s eyes flicked over to Hinata as she rushed over to his side to help him sit up. “Hinata…” He began and she shook her head to silence him, which caused Hashirama’s eyes to go wide, thinking she was telling him to decline his offer.

“Don’t speak, Madara. We have much to talk about, especially when it comes to recruiting new clans to become part of our village. We will have a home…” She whispered and Hashirama’s eyes brightened. “So you all accept?” He asked and they nodded. “However, we have one request before we decide to build the village with you.” Hinata Interjected and everyone stared at her in shock. “And what would that be?” Tobirama asked, the disdain in his voice lingering. Madara knew exactly where she was going with this and he offered to speak. “How shall I put this in a way you will all understand?” He asked tapping his chin. As if he had come up with the most brilliant idea ever, he smirked.

“Daisuke must suffer punishment of the highest caliber for trying to pit us against each other, and Butsuma Senju must share a similar fate.”

Hope you all enjoyed this chapter as well!!! I will do my best to update again next week.
