!!!TRIGGER WARNING!!!! SA and Death in this chapter, read at your own behest.
Hinata still hadn't gotten over the loss of Kawarama, this was something that plagued her. she had nightmares of seeing him that way and it haunted her. She slipped her eyes shut and faced away from the woman beside her. She knew she shouldn't be thinking of this during this very moment, but it was hard seeing any of the Uchiha after that massacre from both sides. She had seen so many dead, Uchiha and Senju alike. Was this what happened every time they clashed? Men and children all dead while the women stayed at home and wondered if their loved ones would return. Hinata grit her teeth at the thought of it.
It was cruel, really... was this war...?
She shook her head of those thoughts and turned to face the calm woman beside her. She envied the woman. She remained so calm despite knowing what was happening. "It comes with time dear, knowing how to box all of that away and not feel it... it comes with time... and loss." She said and Hinata nodded softly. Hinata briefly wondered how the woman could do it so easily but when she looked at her once more, she saw the tears in her eyes. This wasn't easy for her in the slightest. This was an unending battle of boxing those emotions away. "What happened?" Hinata asked and Aurora sighed.
"I... I used to have five children, Izuna was the youngest of five, while Madara was the oldest." She said softly and Hinata frowned. This explained the three year age gap between the brothers... "They were killed by the Senju, so as horrible as it is for me to say, my sons are not yet avenged." Aurora said and Hinata felt a pang of anger, but she also crammed that down swiftly. She couldn't understand where the woman was coming from as she had never had children, much less lost one.
Hinata watched as something seemed to catch Aurora's eyes. "I am going to go and look over there for a moment, please continue here as I will be back." She said and Hinata nodded to her. Hinata continued looking at the weapons around her, but after a moment she realized something was off. a chill fell down her spine and iced her veins. She suddenly felt cold all over her body and she looked around trying to find the Uchiha matriarch. Her byakugan activated and she started scanning the area. No Senju... no Uchiha... Hinata's eyes widened as she realized there were no Uchiha nearby.
She made her way over to the stall that Aurora had gone to and saw that there were multiple sets of footprints, and that one was being drug ever so slightly. As if they were dragging their feet on purpose. Hinata's eyes narrowed and she looked up the hill and towards the forest, where the tracks led. She burst out in a sprint and dodged trees as she saw Aurora's chakra in the distance. She sped up and noticed that the woman wasn't alone and that she was on the ground being held down.
Hinata's heart clenched when she saw what they were doing to her. The sounds they were making... like wild pigs... disgust filled her being as she watched as one man finished with her and stepped away to clean himself. Every inch of Aurora was laid bare, her hair splayed out around her as she struggled against the ones holding her down, tears streaming down her cheeks. Hinata urged herself to move, but everything felt heavy... she couldn't move a single inch. Of her feet that was... her hands trembled up towards her blade and that was the moment the men noticed her and grabbed Aurora, who was screaming at her to run. Hinata wasn't going to though, not after what they had done to her.
Something in her snapped as the tears began to fall from her eyes, she lunged forward with her blade at the ready. Blood splattered her mask as she cut down the first man, who hadn't been expecting her to be so fast. The jewel around her neck flew up into her line of sight and she noticed it had turned bright red as she continued to cut down the men. She whipped to face the last one, who was holding Aurora, only for his blade to dig into the surface of her throat swiftly forming a red line.
A scream ripped form her throat as she lunged for the man and took him down with one swift swipe of her blade. Immediately after the man hit the ground Hinata slapped her hands to Aurora's throat to try and stop the bleeding. Gentle hands pried Hinata's hands away and Hinata fought to keep them there. "P-please... Please let me g-go... I want to be with my children..." she rasped and Hinata shook her head. She couldn't let the woman die like this. She had promised Madara his mother would be safe with her.
And she had failed her... and him...
Blood rushed between Hinata's fingers and she held back a sob as the light left Aurora's eyes and her hands went limp atop her chest. Hinata cried as she hugged the woman to her. she had treated Hinata kinder than anyone else had... Sure Akane had her motherly moments, but Aurora had treated her like she was her own daughter.
Hinata scooped the woman up onto her back, just as she had done with Kawarama. She carried her all the way to the steps of the Uchiha compound before she fell to her knees and began crying once more. Hinata had redressed Aurora as best as she could before bringing her back to them. It wasn't long before the Uchiha men began rushing her, throwing her to the ground a few feet away and threatening to kill her. she just stared back up at them blankly through her mask. She honestly couldn't find it in her to care what they would do to her at this point, because she heard something that absolutely broke her heart.
The brothers yelling for their mother.
Tajima Uchiha stumbled out of the front gates of the compound and hit his knees. She had never met him before and this definitely wasn't the way she wanted to do so... "I'm so sorry..." she just kept repeating it until they looked over to her and she repeated it again. "I turned my back for just a moment... please forgive me..." she pleaded and Madara looked over at her with tears in his eyes. She could tell he was angry... hurt and angry.
"I truly... I tried to save her... I really did..." she managed as she stood and stumbled away from them.

Hashirama wasn't expecting to see him return with his white armor, stained red. Itama had rushed over to them and called for them to help him with Okami-san. He said he was hurt and he couldn't figure out what had happened or where the blood was coming from. Hashirama crouched beside him and tried to pull his mask off, but both of his hands gripped his arms tightly. He was unresponsive verbally, but was defensive over the mask. He tried once more to remove the mask to see where the blood was coming from and ensure it wasn't from his mouth, but he wouldn't budge.
"Please... leave it be..." he rasped and Hashirama sighed, but nodded. "Are you alright?" he asked as he helped Okami sit back against a tree. "They... killed her..." was all he said and Hashirama grit his teeth. "Did you love her?" he asked and Okami turned his face up to look at him. Chocolate brown met with white eyes through the mask and he could see the sadness within them. "She treated me like I was her child..." he said and Hashirama gripped the cloth of his pants tightly, he would end whoever had done this and make sure they couldn't hurt his friend anymore.
"Tell me who did this... I will make sure they pay." He ground out and a bitter laugh escaped him while he tried to stand. "There's no use in that... they're already dead..." he said and stumbled forward, only for Hashirama to catch him before he hit the ground. The white mask hit the ground and rolled away, and Hashirama could only watch as it did so. His eyes went wide as he suddenly realized that Okami was not a man, but a woman disguised as one.
She sighed, as if realizing the ruse was up. "You're... a..." he began but she cut him off in her real voice. "A woman or a Hyuuga? Which is more surprising?" she said softly from Tobirama's grasp. She sounded so broken and it panged at his heart to see anyone this way. Her eyes slipped shut and all that was heard were whimpers and soft snores. Hashirama frowned as he looked over her with sad eyes. "We should get her to mother and father..." he said and Tobirama just stood there staring at her.
"This actually makes more sense as to... nevermind." Tobirama sighed but shook his head and tossed her over his shoulder. They took her to their parents and they laid her on a tatami mat. "She was a hyuuga... I knew there were a few still running around, but I had never seen any." Butsuma said contemplatively. Hashirama knew his father was plotting something, but he couldn't tell what it was. He turned to see his mother gently running her fingers through her hair and he briefly wondered what her real name was. He had only known her as Okami, so it wasn't surprising to him that she had been hiding who she really was from all of them.
The moment her eyes fluttered open, she jumped up and Akane embraced her gently. "What did you do, Hinata-chan?" his mother asked and they all snapped their heads to look at her. Had she known the entire time that Okami was a woman? Okami turned to look at her and she began crying all over again. "They hurt her... and then they killed her when I tried to save her..." she sobbed and his heart twinged at this. He knew immediately who the woman was that she was crying over, as he had overheard his father's plans to kill the Uchiha matriarch. He didn't think those plans would ever be successful seeing as though Madara and Izuna never left their mother's side when she was out in public.
His eyes flickered to his father and saw the amused glint that glimmered in his eyes. His father had used her to get to the Uchiha matriarch and she didn't even know it... which means he knew she was a woman as well and had preyed upon that fact. He wondered what else his father could have been using her for if he had lured out the Uchiha matriarch by using her. His father motioned for him to follow him outside and he had no choice but to follow.
When they got outside the halls of their home his father turned to him with a smirk. "You realized it have you? Good. That makes this much easier. Madara and his brother have taken an odd interest in her." his father explained and his eyes went wide as he realized what this meant. His father was going to kill her once her usefulness had subsided. And that would most likely be when Madara was dead as well. He opened his mouth to speak but his father held up a hand to him.
"Not a word to Tobirama, since you know. I plan on using her to draw the brothers out since they are so readily available almost every time she is out." He said and Hashirama felt the hatred boil up inside him at his father just then. "I know you disagree, but with her we can finally end this once and for all."
"Father you are despicable."
:-:-:-:-:
It had been three days since she had returned Aurora to the Uchiha compound and she had yet to return and check on the brothers. She felt the need to do so today because something felt off about everything. She no longer wore her mask around the Senju, but they treated her differently now. As if they were watching her carefully. She knew that they no longer trusted her since she had been revealed as a woman, but that was fine, she never trusted them to begin with.
She avoided their stares and made her way out of the compound with an excuse of needing to go for a walk. Hashirama and Tobirama offered to go with her, but she told them she was ok to go alone. She had been startled by the sudden change in the brothers. Hashirama had been extremely friendly to her, more so than normal. However, Tobirama had been waiting on her hand and foot. If she needed anything he was right there trying to help her. He had even helped her as she was cleaning her armor, which had surprised her greatly.
He hadn't been berating towards her as of late either, which also surprised her. she wasn't sure if it was because he genuinely wanted to be friends with her or if it was because he was curious about her. they had been at odds ever since she had come to them and yet suddenly e was nice and helpful. She sighed and trudged on deeper into the forest. She came across the deep river that would one day run through Konoha and she smiled at it softly, only to be caught off guard by someone sitting there throwing rocks into the water. She looked over to see Madara there with blood red eyes and not from his sharingan. He had been crying again.
She made her way over to him and sat beside him, gently fiddling with the rocks beneath her fingers. "I'm so sorry..." she whispered and he shook his head. "Stop apologizing." He managed, but his tone was sharp and she flinched away from him slightly. She wondered if he knew his words had hurt her in such a way. She never wanted to hurt him or his family. "Just... stop apologizing already... that's all you've done." He bit out and she scooted a little further away from him now. "You couldn't have done anything to save her, you did everything you could, so please... don't apologize anymore. I can't take it." he said and she snapped her head up to look at him. Perhaps he really didn't hate her after all. She had thought so seeing as his words were harsh, but maybe... maybe he did still want to be friends with her, even though she didn't deserve it.
"I'm not mad at you. I'm mad at those damn Senju... they've been following you from a distance... they followed you straight to mother, but you couldn't have known... they were acting as vendor stall keepers." He bit out and her eyes widened as she thought back to the one who had hidden the weapons from her, but had only exposed his own cheap weapons that way. She cut her eyes to look at him and the burning rage in his eyes said everything she needed to know. He had killed the man and all of those following her already.
"Don't worry, I don't blame you for anything that is to come. You never knew." Was all he said before he stood and turned to go towards his home. He looked back behind him and saw she was just lingering there. "Are you coming?" he asked and she jumped to her feet. She followed him right to his home and she heard the chatter of the Uchiha, they were unapproving of her presence, but so were most of the Senju now too, so it didn't bother her. she briefly wondered if this was how Naruto and Sasuke felt, outcasted and looked down on because of the stigma around their families.
She looked back to Madara who was walking with purpose, it seems he had the respect of all his family members as their whispers stopped the moment they saw her by his side. "I took over as head of the Uchiha." He said and she nodded, so that confirmed what she had been thinking. She turned to see that both Izuna and Tajima were on their knees in front of a grave. Her heart stung as she saw the name on the stone. It was Aurora's grave.
She crouched beside them and uttered a small prayer for her before Tajima turned to look at her. his saddened eyes met hers and she fell to her knees and bowed to him lowly. "Please... forgive me... I'm so sorry." she pleaded with him and he just stood and placed a hand on her head, ruffling her already messy hair slightly. "Don't do that... don't beg me for forgiveness. You did more than I could have asked you for. You brought her home to us instead of letting them desecrate her remains. So, thank you... do not apologize anymore." He said softly and she looked up at him to see him smiling sadly at her.
His eyes were so kind, but filled with sadness. She watched him as he left and she dug her fingers into the dirt, a sudden rage filling her chest. She was going to avenge Aurora... even if it ended her. a flash of red caught her eyes and she looked down to see the jewel fade back to blue. This was the second time it had done this and she wondered why it was happening. Eventually she would have to go back to Katsuyu Falls and ask Katsuyu.
Madara grabbed her by the back of her shirt and pulled her to her feet. She looked up at him and he sighed while shaking his head. "Apologizing only makes us feel worse, please stop." Izuna's voice called out from the ground and her eyes softened as they landed on him. He was looking up at her with tears in his eyes, his lips trembling as he tried to bite back his pain. The moment Madara released her shirt she dove towards him and hugged him tightly. He hugged her back and muffled his cries in her sleeve.
"I promise you Izuna... Madara... I will do whatever it takes... anything at all to get payback for her..."
Hinata stood and wiped her own eyes as they stared at her. Izuna was in shock, but Madara... there was a pride that shimmered in his eyes that her heart fluttered at. She would do whatever it took to keep that look in his eyes. She wanted him to be proud of her, for what reason she didn't know, but she did know that the Senju would pay for what they had done.

Hinata watched Hashirama and Tobirama carefully trying to assess their next move. Hashirama would most likely go with the roots once more, while Tobirama would use the water. Just as she had guessed they were coming at her in tandem, roots obscuring her vision of the brothers, while water seeped through below them. She flew through hand signs and threw a hand up in the air the moment the brothers got close and had landed on the water. They froze and attempted to back off the moment thunder erupted from the sky and a lightening dragon followed the motions of her hand as she slung it down.
The roots exploded and the water beneath their feet became electrified as they attempted to dodge the hit. Hinata fell to her knees and panted as she placed her hands on her thighs, fully expecting to see one or both brothers injured by the attack, but they surprisingly weren't. Tobirama had summoned an earth wall to negate most of the force from the lightning dragon. She panted heavily as it had taken a lot out of her to use that jutsu. As the rock wall dropped Hashirama was grinning at her and going on about how amazing it was that she could change the weather with a jutsu alone. She offered him a weak smile as he rushed forward and offered her a hand to help her up, which she took.
"It was quite impressive, I will admit..." Tobirama sighed and she offered him a small smile. That was as much of a compliment that she was going to get from him so she was going to take it. she heard clapping from behind them and she turned to face Butsuma, who had a smirk on his lips. "Congratulations, that's an Uchiha jutsu that you're complimenting." He said and the brothers watched her carefully. "I learned it from one when I was younger, I promise I have no connections with them as they are now." Hinata pleaded and Hashirama seemed to be convinced, but Butsuma was not.
"Why would you lie, I know it was the Uchiha matriarch that you were crying over that day, or have you forgotten. After all you did slaughter the men who did it, you said that yourself, those were my men." He said and that was all it took for Hashirama and Tobirama to step back in their father's trap. Roots wrapped up around each of the brothers and Hinata. She cried out in pain as she struggled within the roots. "You wont leave here alive, traitors never do." He said as he circled her. he finally settled before her once more and grabbed her by the bangs and jerked her head up by them. She let out a whimper before trying to struggle once more. She knew she couldn't get away from him, but she had to try.
"You even look like one of those messy haired Uchiha... sickening." He grunted as he placed his fingers around her eye. "You wont have any use for this anymore either way, Hyuuga." He said and she struggled against him as she felt the pressure he was putting on her eye. Her heart raced as chakra welled up within her as she could feel her eye leaving her skull. The chakra blasted out from her and he was sent flying back away from her, as were the roots that once held her. She held her hand to her left eye and took off running as fast as she could, but she couldn't see very well. Someone scooped her up and all she saw was a flash of red hair before her vision started to blur more.
"Mito?" she asked and the girl made an affirming noise. "I'm here to help you. Hashirama knew what his father was going to try today, so he had me come and try to help you. Tobirama was the one who told him that something didn't feel right, so please don't be angry with the brothers. They only wanted to help you." She said and Hinata nodded as she allowed herself to be carried by the taller woman. "Can you see?" she asked and Hinata shook her head. "Barely... I think I'm going blind..."
Mito cursed under her breath as she tucked them away inside a civilian inn. She placed a hand to her eyes and tried her best to heal them, but nothing changed for the better. Mito sighed after hours of trying to save Hinata's sight, only for everything to have gone completely dark.
:-:-:-:
She had spent the last two months focusing on what Katsuyu had taught her during her time with the Senju. The ability to 'See' chakra. She knew Naruto had called this sage mode, but it required a massive amount of chakra control and time, which is all Hinata has anymore. She had great chakra control so while it hadn't been easy, it wasn't too hard for her to do. She could feel the markings as they crawled across her skin and over her forehead.
Hinata watched as lights flared up all around her, similar to that of the byakugan, but this was the chakra of everything that existed. She could see the grass beneath her feet and the trees, as well as the birds and other living creatures. It was beautiful to her. she decided today was the day she was going to try and make the trek to the Uchiha compound. She felt around for the eyeless mask that Mito had brought her and she slipped it over her face gently. she took careful steps onto the grass and watched as it moved beneath her feet as chakra flew from her in waves and bounced back at her.
She was interested in what this was so she sent out another wave of chakra and watched as it bounced back at her once more. When she came up to the object, she realized it was a boulder. Seeing as she had learned a new trick, she figured she might need to remember how she did it so she could improve on it later. She followed the well worn path to the Uchiha compound, where she saw the guards jump down and come for her, but when she braced for the impact of them, nothing happened. She looked around her and saw that someone had stopped them. She looked to the chakra and was confused as to who it was radiating such a bright energy like that.
The moment his hands touched her she knew it was Madara. "I... they told me you had died..." he said and she shook her head gently. "He took my sight, but I am still here..." she said and he released the gentle grip he had held her wrists with. "How did you make it here?" he asked and she shrugged softly. "I followed the feel of chakra..." she whispered and she could feel him removing her mask. She could hear more shuffling and it was revealed to be Izuna and Tajima not long after. She could tell which one was which based on how they approached her. Tajima was immediate, while Izuna was hesitant.
"Here... let me help show you around. I promise it wont be too hard to learn the layout of our home. Welcome home Hinata." Tajima said and her lips trembled as she followed them inside, Tajima's gentle hand leading her the whole way, Madara's was in her other hand, but he wasn't leading her as much as his father was. He was bust telling her when to lift her feet and which corners to watch out for. She couldn't help the tears as they flowed freely over her cheeks. The Veil had disconnected from her and now she was no longer able to go home to her own time... so yes... this was her home now...
