--Jacob--

Unlike Sam and Simon, the rest of us have nothing to do. Simon has to go on the treadmill for his speed and Sam has to do Sam stuff.

So the rest of us have to entertain ourselves.

"So..." I say.

"Yeah?" Lily says.

"What do you wanna do?"

She shrugs.

I look at Jay, deep in thought.

"What are you thinking about Jay?"

He doesn't seem to hear me.

"Let him think, he needs to figure this out," Ty says.

"Figure what out?"

"He had a dream that reminded him of something, and he knows that something isn't right."

He grabs a notepad and pencil from the coffee table, sketching something quickly. I lean closer to see what he's sketching but Ty bits the end of my shirt and pulls me away.

In a few minutes, he finishes drawing and stares at it.

"Wait, no. He can't figure this out, it'll kill him," Ty says and tries to take the notepad away, but she's in cat form. Jay easily pushes her away.

"Figure out what?" I ask again.

"There are two portals," Jay and Lily say in unison. Jay looks at Lily weirdly.

"How do you know?" Jay says.

"I guessed."

"No, not at all," Ty says quickly. "There's only one portal."

"You're making things up again, Ty."

"And you're going to do something stupid again!"

"It's not stupid, it's cleaning up the mess I made."

"Jay, you can't."

"Why not? What's so bad that you don't want me to see it?"

"It's not just what you'll see."

"Oh, so it's what I'll learn that you apparently already know. Yet again, you're keeping information from me."

"It's not like that,-"

"Oh really? Then what is it like? Huh? Because that's what it seems like."

His tone shuts Ty up, fire in his eyes. Ty backs away slowly and Jay takes a deep breath, calming himself down.

"I'm sorry I-"

"No," Ty says, her voice shaking, her bones cracking. "Don't apologize. It's not like all I've ever done was protect you. It's not like you're the only thing I have. Don't you ever think about me and where my family is? You're the closest thing I'll ever have to a son because the rest of my species is on the other side of that portal that you wear every day. Oh, but that doesn't matter. Go ahead, go save the world, it's not like I don't want you to get hurt."

By the time she finishes, her body has morphed into a person. Her long, blue hair falls on her shoulders, flowing down her back like a river down a mountain. Her eyes glow a brilliant ocean blue, glistening with tears. A loose t-shirt and jeans wrap around her body, following her curves.

"It doesn't matter because cats can't cry. You humans cry and laugh, but cats can't, so I guess they don't have feelings either!"

"Ty-" Jay reaches a hand out to her.

"That's not my name, Alex," she snarls, running out of the room, her hands covering her eyes, but that doesn't stop all the tears from falling on the ground.

After a minute, I say, "You have serious anger issues."

"This is the worst time for you to say that, you know that?" Lily says.

"But he's right," Jay says quietly.

"You guys have problems," Sam says, leaning against the doorframe, his arms crossed.

Lily and I look up at him.

"Steve the electrician was wondering what was going on in the background, so he let me off the hook."

Jay gets up, following Ty.

"So, what was the yelling?"

"Jay and Ty were arguing about portals and betrayal."

"Is this a normal thing or something?"

"No, but anger tends to be the only thing Jay can't control as much."

The phone rings. "That's probably the boss."

And with that, Sam leaves too.

--Jay--

I stand in the doorway, wanting to help Ty, but not wanting to make it worse. I push the door open a little more with my foot, the noise telling Ty I'm here.

"Go away."

"Ty, I'm sorry."

She doesn't look at me, her head buried in a pillow. Her body shakes with every sob.

After a minute, I say the only thing I think of. "You're beautiful."

I step inside, shutting the door behind me.

"I want my sister," she cries.

Finding a seat next to her, I brush a strand of her silky hair behind her ear. "You can go back if you want."

She shakes her head.

"Why not?"

It takes extreme effort to force the words out, but she manages to say, "I-I wa-as b-ban-banished. I d-did s-s-something b-bad."

"What'd you do? It couldn't have been that bad, you have a good heart."

Taking a shaky breathing, she tries to calm herself, but only falls into heavier sobs. She cries for fifteen minutes, unable to regain control of herself. Slowly the sobs die down, and she wipes away her tears.

"I-I'm sorry, it's my fault, I sh-should be able to deal with the c-consequences."

"No, it's not your fault. And why were you banished?"

"I tried to change the future. You w-wanted to know why I l-lied? That's why. Last time I tried, I-I lost my home."

"Ty...Why didn't you just tell me?"

"Because it wasn't part of the timeline. But Jacob went and changed something, and now I don't know what's going to happen. I got a glimpse of the future before I was cast away, but now it's changed and that means nothing."

I look down. "I'm so sorry."

She forces a smile. "Hey, at least this way you might have a chance."

"A chance for what?"

"To get better. In the old timeline, you stayed the same old emotion-less Jay. Now, you might heal."

"What if I don't want to heal?"

"Why wouldn't you want to?"

"What if I get kidnapped again? What then? My chance of survival would drop by a lot."

"Jay, you're not going to get kidnapped again. I mean it this time."

IDK HOW TO END THE SCENE! HELP!

That's not a good sign, I don't know where to cut a scene...

Anyway! Vote, comment, etc.
