Chapter 1

In a land of green and blue there was one speck of drear. Our people called it SHE. SHE was the initials of a little dark spot. Savahna Hale Ensole. A dark but beautiful girl of eight teen hundred, not at all old by our standers. She stood about a head higher than most citizens and had a wardrobe that would impress any dark learner. Spiked cream hair was only a few shades darker than her skin, both of witch stood starkenly pail compared to her obsidian eyes.

I remember her stalking across the town green. That time was when she gave away her secret, we all saw her for what she was. SHE was the dark spot foretold to abliviate the world. But she was not at the town green to destroy us no quite the opposite, she was there because we had done a horrible thing.

We killed. We destroyed a life. Flames sprang up to consume that little soul. It was agents our people to behead a child, hell it was agents us to kill. But we did it. The people we hoped to be were gone. We had beheaded three people, a man, his wife and the eldest child, a boy only a bit older than Savahna and myself. The charge: suspicion of enemy trust.

Why was the little girl not beheaded too? Well it was deemed to emotionally and ethically wrong to execute a child beneath ten hundred by beheading, yet it wasn't agents us to let the child hold her parents and brother as they lost their own heads. I hate this law. After that poor desperate soul was pulled, screaming and crying from her fallen family, the bodies collected and the girl tied to a great post. Around the post they laid her family on a bed of kindling. As if that wasn't traumatic enough they lit it on fire.

I remember standing there as if my feet were stuck in the mud, I wanted to cry out and protect her. This could not happen, yet it did. The people bowed their heads some cried for the little girl and her family. I know I was one of them, only an hour a go I had played with the girl and her dolls in the very grass she was withering above.

Then SHE came. A whorl wind of black cloth and gleaming silver. Savahna seemed carious of the crowd and smoke at first, then she heard the screams. She ran. The people parted before her like water before a boat. Then in a flurry of panic she evaporated in a shadow of gloom. Right in the middle of the day a shadow hung above the long grass and then dissipated and SHE was in the fire.

No one believed their eyes. The pail-skinned outcast was amongst the flames. Her hands at the bounds of the girl who no longer screamed, just silent tears and the hoarse words, "Sava. Sava you came to me."

The fire seemed to die down, its hideous flames didn't engoulph the girl, SHE, and the corpses. No its horrible red flames turned purple and the pail yellow belly of the fire was as dark as Savahnas clothing.

SHE dropped the girls bindings, lifted the little still form and leapt from the heart of the crazed fire. As Savahna landed on the ground every one darted away. I was released from my spot. Like every sensible person I fled the wrath of SHE.
