Poem 58 || Nostalgia
My friend,
Do you not feel it in your heart?
The yearning deep within your soul?
The feeling that your ageing mother is growing old,
And that she's calling you home
Don't you remember,
The way she set you free,
Like a little bird out of the cage,
Soaring across the seas?
Don't you remember,
Your childhood friends,
Whom you played with at the ocean shore?
Doesn't your heart turn numb and sore?
The fresh cookies in the jar,
Placed on the countertop,
Are waiting for your arrival,
Dying for you
The roses and tulips,
Are weeping for you
Their stalks drying,
Their petals falling,
Slowly withering
Do you remember me?
Do you,
At all,
Feel anything?
Allow me to pour you a glass of nostalgia,
Please.
