Poem 16 || The Fear of Imperfection
She feared,
She teared,
She loathed imperfection,
In such a horrible fashion
She would stand in front of the mirror,
Looking for truth
Reaching in to find out her true self,
Her image
Each passing day
And no one could make her feel okay
Perfect she wanted to be,
Perfection she never could meet
She judged herself,
Like no one else,
Detesting herself more and more,
Locked herself behind the bedroom door
Never eating,
Never sleeping;
She would lie on her bed all day
People started to think she was insane,
And they walked past her in disdain
She did not understand,
She could not comprehend
That perfection was just an illusion,
That imperfection was pure reality
Her mother decided she was depressed
But her daughter had already left
Escaping her own little cruel world of...
Imperfection.
