Chapter _29_

Kaylee's POV:

The whole day passed in a hurry and my head, full of confusing thoughts, was facing an explosion of atomic proportions. I was overthinking and that brought me to the edge.

"Spend eighty percent of your time focusing on the opportunities of tomorrow rather than the problems of yesterday."

I read one slogan on the billboard of a building as I was returning from the store where I bought a dress for tonight.

'' Yes, that would be true. But my problem from yesterday awaits me today, and tomorrow. . . Until the rest of my life ''

I came home and it was empty. I tossed the keys on the table by the entrance. Only the sound of my disappointment echoed through the hallways. I went to the room and pulled out the dress I had bought from the bag.

It was a black, midi, powerful one shoulder dress. One sleeve was long and the shoulder part had sharp, futuristic lines. Asymmetrical V shape neckline.

After tying my hair in a low ponytail and letting the two front strands fall to my face, I put on burgundy lipstick.

I have to admit I looked a bit mystical, dark and powerful.

You know what they say- if you can't be the poet be the poem.

When I came out of the closet, my ‚‚ruler from the shadow‚‚ put on the jacket of his suit.

Well, the lyrics of his song are extremely deadly.

When he felt my presence, he raised his head. He opened his mouth slightly, but then seemed to come to his senses. He looked at me penetratingly, defiantly, and I felt as if he had dragged me into the dark underworld with him for a moment.

I cut eye contact and headed downstares, the clicking of my heels saying the final word instead of me.

I settled into the SUV, the door opened and Noah occupied the entire spiritual field in the car with his appearance.

Damn you,  and your energy that electrifies the air around you.

The ride was extremely uncomfortable and quiet. When we arrived, we stood in front of a building that looked so old, as if it would collapse at any moment. I just couldn't understand why we were here. We entered a dark alley on the side and entered a side entrance.

The hallway was long and dim. At the end of the hall, we were greeted by two bodyguards, as wide as the passage we passed.

They just looked at Noah and nodded. They opened the door and it was as if we had sailed into another world, neverland.

The smoke in the room somewhat hid the luxurious interior. A river of people flowed through this huge space, and crystal chandeliers hung from high, church-like ceilings. How many secrets does this seemingly old building hide?

I wrapped my arm around his, to some extent the whole atmosphere that reigned here disturbed me. I didn't feel safe. But I didn't let it show on me.

We fidgeted through the room talking to various people, I mean mostly Noah was talking. By the time we came for our table, I had drunk a couple of glasses of champagne brought to me by the waiter.

Then Noah talked to a short, middle-aged man. I was bored listening to their conversation, so I looked around, drinking who knows what glass of. . .

What caught my eye was a face I knew well. The face of my boss. Colt. What is he doing here?I opened my lips in disbelief. He saw me and just raised his glass, made a toast to me and winked.

I closed my eyes for a moment, and my vision blurred a little, obviously the drink had already made me dizzy.

"Did you see him?"

I interrupted his conversation,

"Who?"

"Colt, my boss."

"You must have seen badly."

He looked at the empty glass in my hand,

"Liam gave me a guest list and he certainly wasn't on it. After all, he does not belong to this world. He was just a legal link in the last deal. And that's it. "

I pursed my lips in confusion. Did I really imagine?

I looked around. The people around us were as muddy as a muddy river. Greed could be seen on their faces, as if their corrupt minds were projecting their sinful thoughts on their bodies. And then I stared at Noah. How can those heavenly eyes be the eyes of the devil? I absorbed his face as if it were the only source of light in this room.

This drink must have worked me up so damn hard.

And then he looked at me in astonishment, obviously surprised that I was staring at him.

"Do you want to ask me something?"

"No, no, I just immersed myself in my thoughts."

I answered a little slowed down. Yes, the drink worked  me up. God, why did I drink this much at all? I was mad at myself!

'' Noah. We have not seen eachother for a looong time.''

Suddenly a shrill female voice cut me off. I glanced at the source of that high, crunchy frequency. The bitchy version of Barbie, stood in front of us in her ultra mini short dress that looked like it was going to burst any minute.

My gaze darkened and when she put her hand on his chest, ah, lets just say  I experienced an eclipse of consciousness.

"You haven't called me back in a while. I'm really lonely. If. . . ''

Maybe it was the alcohol in me, maybe. . . I do not know what.

''If. . . ''

I said, turning to her, clinging to Noah, placing one hand on his shoulder and the other hand caressing his chest and moving toward hers.

"If you don't take your hand off my husband, I'll personally make sure my face is the last thing you ll see."

It is not known who was more surprised - her, Noah or me?

Noah took her hand and roughly removed it from himself. She was in awe, looking at me, then at him. She wanted to say something, but then she closed her mouth and ran away.

Noah looked at me, his gaze angry and deadly. He took my hand and dragged me out of here.

"Come on, let's go home, you've had enough tonight!"

When we somehow got to the car, he slammed the door and signaled the driver to leave.

I was angry, furious, I was boiling. Why was he mad at me? Did he want something with her so now he is disappointed that I ruined his plans. Doesnt he have  a slightest bit of shame? I looked at him and waited for him to look at me so that I could throw everything in his face. Then at last our gazes full of fire met.

"Fuck you!"

I screamed.

''Pardon me?''

''Shame on you! You're mad at me for driving her away. What should i do? Watch her shamelessly arrange meetings with you in front of me? ''

'' Kaylee don't talk nonsense, And please shut up. . . ''

He told me as if a dumpling had stuck in his throat.

'' Should I shut up? How come you're not ashamed to kick me out of there for that slut? "

''ENOUGH! You want to know why I dragged you out of there, do you really want to know? "

''Yes!''

He cupped my face with his cold hands, cooling down my boiling feelings. He approached me passionately close, I was losing my breath.

'' I dont give a fuck about her! You understand? You're the one driving me crazy. You are giving me some mixed up signals. I am going crazy. You reject me, you push me away from you, you say I mean nothing to you, and then you act like some possessive woman who cares about her husband. It's like you care about me! "

"Why does it bother you so much, I don't understand?"

I fired like a magnum gun.

"BECAUSE I CARE ABOUT YOU!"

He thundered and then closed his eyes and let go of my face, took a deep breath and turned his back on me.I didn't know what to say. I wanted to put my hand on his shoulders

''Dont. . . ''

He said, and as if I heard a weakness in his voice. Something I never expected to hear from him.

Damn. . .
