Chapter 12

"Here we are! Welcome to New York!" Madi exclaimed as she pulled up in to a five star hotel near a Pizza Hut and Target.

"This is so amazing, I just wish there was not so many homeless people, I feel so bad for all of them." I examined as I looked out my window seeing homeless adults and their children holding up signs.

"I know right, and yeah. There is just so much poverty these days." Madi responded as she parked the Jeep and looked at me.

"Well, should we go in or what?" I teased as we both sat there for a moment, nog knowing what to do or say next.

"Yes, is there anything you would like to do her in New York? I don't mind going for a drive around the strip malls and stuff." Maid asked as she opened the car door and waited for me.

"Yeah, actually, I was was wondering if I could go and look for a homecoming dress today." I responded with a tone of excitement ringing in my voice as I spoke.

Madi nodded in response and pulled out her three bags of clothing and other necessities. My new bag from Aeropostale fell onto the newly paved parking lot and I let out a small shriek.

"It's okay, it is just your backpack not your phone." Madi joked as she shut the trunk and we strolled into the hotel lobby.

"I guess this room is alright." I muttered as I plopped my bags next to the bed and looked around.

The room was pretty tight and crowded and the entrance way was extremely narrow. After entering, I can see a small couch and TV on a top wooden stereo cabinet. When I turned to my right, there was a small sink and circular table with five chairs. As I kept walking forward, I opened a door, revealing that bathroom which was bigger than the main room itself.

"I think it is perfect!" Madi added as she did a twirl and skipped around the hotel, looking around to see what interesting things she could find.

I smiled at Madi who was now lying on the bed that was tucked in the back of the hotel room. She lifted her head and gave me a thumbs up, I guess that meant the beds are good.

I flopped onto the couch, feeling lazier than I ever have in my entire life.  I had four projects due in three weeks that I should probably start on but yet again, I just wanted to relax. I peered over the chair and by the TV to find a remote since I guess watching Castle or Pretty Little Liars would be nice.

Finally, after rummaging through all of the drawers, I finally found it tucked underneath the chair cushion. I bet some younger kid did that before we got here. As I flipped through the channels, none of the shows seemed to be interesting. All I saw was news, more news, than some more news, Jimmy Fallon, Ellen, Disney Channel and some Ocean show.

I let out a loud groan and stood up, stretching my already-tired-muscles," Madi I'm going to go take a walk in the-"

When I opened the door to Madi's room, which was slightly bigger than mine, she was already fast asleep. I never thought driving for a few hours would be that tiring. I shrugged and pulled my white high tops over my feet and exited the room, remembering to take the keys with me. Hopefully, Madi wouldn't panic if the door is locked and someone wants to come in.

When I reached the hotel lobby, a young child with pigtails and her mother were waiting by the water fountain to take a drink.

"Mommy, I'm scared to use a bubbler!" She squealed, her little voice echoed throughout the large lobby.

"Honey, it's water fountain not bubbler. I know it is a hard change but we don't live in Wisconsin anymore, Alice." Her mother responded with a little laughter ringing in her voice.

"Oh." She muttered as she slowly bent over the water fountain and took a small drink of the water," all better!" She declared with a big smile as she ran up against her mother, almost falling down from the impact.

"Good, now let's head back to the room." Her mother concluded as they headed up the stairs holding hands.

I stifled a small laugh and began to stroll around the hotel, looking around every corner of it. I eventually found the pool, which is really nice and even has a hot tub also, it went to five feet, which kind of bummed me out. As I walked back into where I was before, I spotted a cute and tucked in "library."

I looked into the piles of books in the tiny drawers that were listened in sci-fi, non-fiction, fiction, romance, shakespeare and much more. Suddenly, I heard a loud voice boom from upstairs.

"LINNEA!" She shouted from upstairs as I quickly spun around and looked upwards to see Madi standing up there looking down at me. I could tell she was angry at me for some reason so I quickly replied.

"Yeah, Madi?" I responded as flatly ad possible since I didn't want to draw much attention.

"Don't you ever leave the room without permission!" Madi scolded angrily as she pointed her finger at me. She must have gotten up do get a drink of water and was planning to go right back to bed since her hair was all messy and staticky.

"Sorry, I just wanted to look around! Besides, you were sleeping and I didn't want to wake you up." I explained convincingly as I began to race up the fancy red carpeted staircase.

"Well, since I am awake, should we head to the mall? We have a good four hours before bedtime." Madi informed, looking at her new apple watch," or, if you want, we can go tomorrow instead, but only in the morning because my job interview is at two o' clock.

"Yeah sure!" I replied as I finally reached Madi, who's braids where all messed up and her mascara was rubbed al around her eyes.

"Okay, well, let's get ready then." Madi replied as I handed her the keys to unlock the door.

When we walked in, I quickly rushed to the bathroom to prepare. When going to a extremely popular mall in New York, you need to be pretty and dressy. . . at least in my perceptive.
