Chapter 2

I felt like time and space had melted together. The flash ahd blinded me, and I tried to shrug it off, blinking rapidly. I felt someone in my arms. As I glanced to that person, I seen Sarah and I couldn't help but to smile. Until she screamed.

"OH MY LORD, WE ARE IN MID-AIR!!!" She screeched, right into my ear. great, now I am deaf and blind.
"Sarah," I replied, still looking at her, unaware of our surroundings, "there is no..." She was right. We were suspended in mid-air. And as soon as that realization hit me, we fell.

My instincts kicked in, and I held her close, rotating us as we fell, to where my back faced the ground. If we were going to fall at least 50 feet, I was going to take the brunt end of it. To terrified to scream, but both just maintained that postion until I connected with the tree tops. Limbs cracked, and trees splintered at the force of us falling, and then we hit land. The shock and momentum of the fall made us bounce once, and we hit a second time. I felt the wind leave me, and I gasped for air, my vision fading. The last thing I remember was Sarah shaking me, crying, and screaming something at me. In sounded distant as I passed out, as if she were at the end of a very long tunnel.

I woke up several hours later, dawn kissing the horizon, and two ghastly moons suspended in the air... Seeing this, I tried to sit up quickly, two moons? As I lurched into a sitting postion, every fiber of my being screamed in pain, and I grunted falling back down, tunnel vision kicking in. Not this time, I thought, concentrating on staying alert. Then I heard some noises, foot steps, through the wooded area we landed in. Scared, and unable to move my body, I turned my head in the direction of the noises and I seen Sarah, carrying some wood. Seeing me concious, she rushed me, dropping the wood, and jumped on me, making the pain increase 3 fold.
"You are awake!! Oh my god, you had me worried!" she squealed at me, pounding on my chest out of anger.
"Ugh, Sarah, you're hurting me..." I moan, my vision fading again. Come on, stay awake!
"Oh, I am sorry! I was just so worried!" she scrambles to get off me, and grabs my hand.
"I was so scared, I thought you were gonna die!" tears well up in her eyes, and she leans in close, looking into my eyes.

I ean up, and grunt, hurting, but trying to ignore it. I kiss her for the second time, closing my eyes. Her face flushes out of surprise, then she closes hers too. The same feeling erupted in my chest, with something else...
"Owww..." I groan out softly, laying back down slowly. I must of broke every bone in my body.
"You... you almost died for me. I seen what you did. You took the fall for me, literally."
Worry covered her face, but I pulled off a smirk.
"I don't know what you are talking about... I just, fell."
"Yeah, sure you did. I would of killed you if you had died." she retorted, making a face of disappointment and happiness.
"Oh, that makes sense. If you are powerful enough to kill me twice, can you help with my pains?" I ask jokingly.
"Your fault..." she trails off, then finishes, "but thank you. I love you..."
My face matches the exact meaning of surprise. "I love you too." I reply softly.

The feeling that I get when I kissed Sarah rose to my chest once again, and I couldn't help but to smile like a kid at Christmas. I was glad she said it... No, elated. We stared at each for a while, smiling. and then she jumped back into focus, stumbling.

"I got firewood!"
"I know, I seen you drop them." I replied, laughing softly. She just stared at me.
"Oh, well then." she said, taken aback. I felt bad, I was just kidding.
"I was just kidding... I am sorry." I said quickly, trying to save it.
"No, no. It was dumb of me to state that, of course you knew." she said smiling slightly. I knew it bothered her though.
"I am sorry..." I repeat, looking at her.
"It is fine, I swear."

I went quite and looked around. It was getting dark, and I seen a moon on the horizon, peaking out through the trees, the sun just setting. As I turned behind me, craning my neck I seen... I seen another moon? What? I jumped up, hurting again, but ignoring it, swaying to keep balance.

"Uhm, Sarah, since when in the Hell has there been two moons??" I shout, bewildered.
She looked up, finally lighting the fire and stopped. "Brandon... There has NEVER been two moons!"
"My point!" I shout back looking at her.

I start to walk towards her, and I sway, almost hitting the ground. Sarah rushed towards me, and caught me, holding me up, looking worried. I gave her a reassuring look, and she helped me towards the fire. We sat down slowly, and cuddled close. We stared at the night sky, and mumbled to each other about how the Big Dipper and Little Dipper were absent. None the less, the stars were gorgeous. We slowly layed back, and held each other, still looking at the sky, and fell asleep. I couldn't help but to smile.

Later on that night, I woke up to some rustling. Sitting up quickly, I groaned, and glanced around. Sarah was no where to be seen. I called out in panic, hoping she would answer. Nothing, just more rustling. Getting up slowly, I walked towards the movement with unsteady feet. As I got there, I seen an odd bush, and I pushed it apart. Just a rabit. It hopped away in a scared fury, and I turned. As I turned, I felt something crack against the back of my head. Oh fuck, this again? I thought to myself as I hit the ground, passing out.
