XXVIII
The party was erupting in music
and cheers.
Kids all around me
grinded against each other
while others laughed
and played board games with each other.
Virginia, however,
was intoxicated beyond belief.
I'd have to admit that even being wasted,
she was gorgeous.
Her slight hiccups and
obnoxious giggles
sent warmth throughout my chest.
Come with me.
Virginia said
before grabbing my arm
and making her way through the crowd.
Where are we going?
Curiosity took over me
as we got further from the room of sweaty drunks.
Here,
she replied
before stopping inside an empty room.
I have something to tell you.
She hiccuped.
And you can't tell anyone, okay?
Her words were slurred
and her body started swaying.
A moment passed as I stared into her glazed over eyes.
Okay.
I said,
and she smiled.
I have a secret so big, Sarah.
I'm not sure you can handle it.
I furrowed my eyebrows at her words.
She wasn't making any sense.
I'm not sure anyone can handle it.
A loud burp emitted from her mouth
before she erupted in giggles.
Sorry,
she grinned,
as she slouched over onto the couch.
It's okay,
I said warily.
What is it you wanted to tell me?
Virginia reached her hands out to me.
Come here.
And before I could comprehend what she was saying,
she wrapped her arms around my wrists
and pulled me down.
I could feel heat radiating off of her.
I could smell the rotten stench of alcohol on her breath
and the slight musky scent mixed with a sweet perfume wafted
from her body.
Her hands found their way to both sides of my face
as she stared deep into my eyes.
My breathing got heavier
and my heart exploded behind my ribcage.
They wouldn't understand, Sarah.
Her voice was softer now.
Tingles sparked from her fingertips,
setting my skin on fire.
Would you understand?
The heavy bass of the music
matched the pace of my heart.
She looked desperate almost,
a sadness hiding underneath her drunk demeanor.
I could feel her shaking,
her breathing heavy and sharp.
I barely nodded my head
before whispering
Yes.
A second passed between us.
Her vibrant eyes seeming to melt before me.
And in that next moment,
her lips were on mine.

| So I went through my drafts and realized that I actually finished Lost Girl back in 2017. That's... absolutely insane to me. I don't want this story to die, and I want those who have waited all these years to get closure and see where Sarah's story goes next.
For everyone that stuck around or even discovered or rediscovered my work, this is for you. I wrote this story more than 6 years ago, so the writing and plot aren't necessarily remarkable, but it makes my heart warm knowing how invested I was in my work and in bringing these characters to life. Nevertheless, please, enjoy <3
With love,
