"Hmm..." The silvery-haired man sighed happily as he felt the beginnings of the sun's bright, warm rays of light reach out and brush his cheeks softly, as if to paw at him to wake him up. He smiled deviously, a magnificent plan hatching in the back of his mind, and clutched the space in front of him where Phoenix should have been even tighter, ignoring the emptiness in his hands, and allowed his eyelids to spring open, widening his mouth to bellow;
"Good morning, Ukey-!" Edgeworth frowned as his eyes adjusted to the new lighting and stared blankly at the despairingly bare mattress before him.
"Huh?" He clenched his fists in disappointment and frustration. Edgeworth wasn't used to waking up last, and the defence attorney usually stayed in bed regardless of whether he'd woken up yet or not in order to wait for the prosecutor, waiting angelically and just generally being a brilliant way to bring Edgeworth back to reality whilst putting him in a good mood - all at the same time. He sighed and absent-mindedly felt his broad chest where Phoenix's head had previously been cradled, feeling lonely. Edgeworth rolled his eyes after a minute and tore the duvet off of himself, chuckling softly as he saw the stains from their previous, passionate, night and was already looking forward to doing it all again later, thinking up many new, innovative ideas to trick naïveté Phoenix into coming into the bedroom. What was he doing feeling sorry for himself about the fact that his boyfriend had already got up without him? He should be finding him immediately and showing him his affection!
Edgeworth hastily sped into the kitchen, not bothering to dress first, and blurted;
"Good morning, Ukey-!" The prosecutor's voice faltered, and his heart sank, as he noticed that the kitchen was, most definitely, empty and Phoenix was, most definitely, not preparing breakfast for them both.
"Phoenix, where the hell are you?" He muttered angrily, spinning round to face the corridor again and shooting bullets at the defence attorney perched in the glossy framed picture through his eyes. His mood softened as he focused on the man's beautiful, angelic expression in the photo. If he wasn't in the kitchen, then he'd be in... Edgeworth pondered for a moment. There weren't many rooms to go in.
The bathroom?
Of course. That explained why his boyfriend would have got out of bed without him! He'd clearly been bursting with a need to go to the bathroom and had been forced, out of his own will, to get out of Edgeworth's grasp and relieve himself. The prosecutor smiled at the thought of an embarrassed, flustered Phoenix having to creep out of his grasp and go to the bathroom. Edgeworth promptly proceeded to wait outside of the plain white bathroom door, deciding he'd play it nice and allow his boyfriend to keep his dignity by not bursting in on him without warning.
"Ukey-boy, are you in there?" He called out seductively, waiting impatiently for a response for a mere 10 seconds before repeating himself in a pushier, louder tone;
"Ukey-boy, are you in there!" When there was no reply, and no sounds were emanating from the room, the prosecutor sighed and decided to let himself in, widening his eyes in shock as he noticed there was not even a single strand of Phoenix's hair in there - let alone Phoenix himself. He scanned the room, beginning to panic slightly before being distracted by the window above the ceramic sink, which had evidently been left open. The prosecutor creased his brow at it, ruminating for a moment before returning to the matter at hand.
An open window was insignificant, anyway.
In a sudden flurry of adrenaline, Edgeworth stormed out of the bathroom - slamming the door violently behind him - and entered the main room of the offices: the actual office itself. Nothing seemed out of place - at a first glance.
"Phooeeenix!" Edgeworth called out worriedly, now having forgotten about his earlier plans to embarrass the defence attorney by using his assigned nickname, and paced around the room frantically, even checking underneath random pieces of furniture in case Phoenix may, for some reason, be there. He had no such luck.
"Phoenix, this isn't funny. Come out now..." The prosecutor spun around on his heel before fiercely repeating;
"I SAID... COME OUT NOW!"
No response.
Edgeworth began to sweat in exasperation and scanned the room more carefully, still in firm denial of the fact that Phoenix was nowhere in the offices whatsoever.
Sofa - check.
Desk - check.
With the clock ticking, Edgeworth was beginning to lose hope. Where could his boyfriend be? Was he still in a dream? It was starting to dawn on him that that would be the only logical explanation before something finally caught his eye.
A..... Note.
