A New Beginning
Hazel
She had found a hotel a decent distance from Camp Jupiter and was staying there until she found a place to stay. Sure it was an impulsive decision she had made but she was positive this was best for her.
It was 7:34 when a phone call woke her from her sleep. She looked at the caller I.D. It was Nico. She answered the call.
"Hello?" She asked, sleepily.
"Hazel where the hell are you? I return to New York for a day and I get a call from Lavinia saying you disappeared. What's going on."
"I left." She said flatly.
"Well no duh, where are you?" He questioned.
She told him the hotel she was staying at and he immediately hung up. She sighed and started to get ready for the day. She rummaged through her suitcase and took out a pair of high-waisted jeans and a simple long-sleeved shirt.
She went into the bathroom to change and brush her teeth. When she came out Nico was standing by the door with his arms folded and an unhappy look on his face.
"Hey," Hazel said casually.
"You left. Hazel, why did you leave?" He questioned.
She gave an exasperated sigh. "Nico I couldn't handle it okay. Just being there reminded me of Frank and I need time to think and process everything."
Nico sighed. "I understand that but leaving like that was irrational. Do you even have a place to live? A job?"
"I'm currently looking for both. I already started looking for a job and I have enough money from my old job to pay for an apartment."
"So you just left everyone?" He asked.
"I had to. I couldn't stay there any longer," she said sitting on her bed.
Nico sat down next to her. "So what now? You're leaving forever?"
"Not forever. Just until I'm ready to go back." She said quietly. "And Nico... I'm sorry. You've been a great help with all of this and I've just been an awful sister," she said, tears forming in her eyes.
"Hey, hey it's okay," Nico said, hugging his sister. "You're going through a lot right now. I'm sorry for getting mad at you, you had me worried."
"It's okay. I should have called you and told you."
He gave her one final hug and stood up. "Well now that I know you're okay, I have to get going. I have someone covering for me at work."
Hazel stood up and hugged her brother again. "Okay, bye. I love you!"
"Love you too, Haze." Nico said before shadow traveling away. Will would kill him if he knew how much Nico had been doing it.
Once Nico left Hazel took her laptop out of her suitcase and made sure the demigod safe chip was secured into the computer. She was not in the mood to fight monsters.
She began to search for apartments as well as jobs in the area. After a day of searching, she managed to find an apartment she liked that was in her price range and a decent area.
