05; facade of innocence
By the time Stiles had finished explaining the supernatural, more importantly the nogitsune situation, to Lita, the brunette had wandered over to ratty old couch & made herself comfortable. She was growing tired of hearing about his misfit friends, and in all honesty, she'd nearly told him to shut up multiple times. Lita only cared about the nogitsune- her free ticket out of Eichen House. If she succeeded in helping him, it was likely that they'd go on to destroy every last one of Stiles' little freak show he liked to call friends.
The existence of werewolves defined insanity almost perfectly, yet the queen of lost minds found herself believing it all; better, she found herself being profoundly bored by the revelation of what'd been in front of her face for years. Barrow had told her countless stories of the children with glowing eyes, but she'd merely assumed he was delusional; come to find out, Barrow was a lot more sane than most. All he ever wanted to do was destroy the evil children, and if Lita made it out of Eichen, that was first up on her agenda, starting with the red-eyed monster Stiles had referred to as his best friend, Scott McCall; the true alpha.
Lita was beyond certain that the only reason Stiles told her half of what he'd revealed was the fact that no sane person would ever let her out of Eichen. Lita was crazy- a relentless, remorseless murderer -and she had no interest in any form of cure for her psychosis. She loved the feeling of someone else's blood on her hands, and while she may not have been as insatiable as the fox in Stiles's head, she was a force to be reckoned with. Lita killed her conscience, she shredded all human weaknesses programmed into her mind & she replaced it all with voices & a desire to kill.
Lita was limitless, there was no boundary she wouldn't cross- she was going to get Stiles to give in to the nogitsune, and she didn't care what she had to do. It wasn't like she had anything to lose; she was already locked up in the nut house, and things were getting crazier by the second. She had everything to win, and that's what made everything she planned on doing entirely worth it. But first, before setting her plan into motion, she had to play into the pity act. Even if Lita felt nothing but the desire to laugh psychotically, she had to convince Stiles that she felt a sense of sympathy for him, and that she wanted to help in any way she could.
"That sounds pretty intense." Lita huffed, leaning back on the couch. "But, Scott- was it? You said he managed to protect everyone from a pack of alpha werewolves. Don't you think he'll find a way to stop the nogitsune & get you out of here?"
"I'm starting to think no one can." Stiles mumbled sadly, his eyes locked on the floor in front of him. His hope was dwindling away with time, and he knew the demonic fox was closing it- in fact, for all he knew, it could've already been too late. Stiles knew absolutely nothing, except that the trickster spirit has chosen him as a host & had no intention on giving up until it successfully possessed him.
Good, Lita thought, but she remained with a seemingly depressed exterior. She had to be convincing, she had to make her facade of innocence completely flawless- and she had to really sell it if she wanted him to believe her, after everything he'd heard. "Don't think like that. If they're anything like how you described them, your friends will pull through, I know it." No they won't, because I'm going to kill them before they get the chance to try. I'm going to kill them all, and if my plan works, you're going to help me.
"Can you do me a favour?" Stiles questioned, changing the topic & unknowingly interrupting the girl's endless flow of psychotic thoughts. He was going to lose his mind even faster if he continued talking about the nogitsune; or if he read one more report about trepanation, electroshock & ice baths. Stiles was seriously beginning to regret searching through Eichen's ancient records for any clues on the nogitsune's origin, and he now understood why Lita had chosen not to help. They were significantly terrifying. "Could you check the lines on my back? Just tell me if they're fading."
Lita nodded, watching as Stiles finally stopped digging through boxes of old papers & walked over to her. He sat beside her on the couch, whilst the psychopath reluctantly pulled herself up into a sitting position. She was almost tired, after hearing a ten minute story of how the almighty true alpha werewolf, Scott McCall, was working on a way to expel the nogitsune before time ran out & it managed to fully possess Stiles. Of course, if Lita had anything to do with it- Scott wouldn't even get the chance to try before she killed him.
Stiles lifted up the back of his shirt, only managing to get it halfway before Lita moved it the rest of the way. At first, she didn't see anything- but upon further inspection, she noticed very faint lines stemming down from his neck, fading away just below his shoulder. Knowing he couldn't see her face, Lita smirked at the sight, knowing the marks were one of the only things keeping the nogitsune from gaining control- as soon as they were gone, so was Stiles.
"They're almost gone." Lita told him honestly, her smirk fading as she lowered Stiles' shirt. It took a decent amount of self control to keep it from returning, and while self control was something Lita didn't rank too highly in, she managed to maintain a look of concern that was convincing enough to fool him. Though, it was short lived- and to throw suspicions off, she glanced back to the wall to further examine what she'd learned to be a Kanji symbol.
Stiles sighed, his anxiety increasing significantly as he turned back around, only to see that the psychopath had diverted her gaze back to the wall. Stiles furrowed his brows, a hint of his worry turning to confusion as he wondered what more she could possibly be thinking of- he'd already told her everything, so answering any more questions was likely impossible. "What?"
The brunette tilted her head to the side, her eyes narrowing slightly at the symbol as an idea crossed her mind. Why would the symbol be there, of all places? There were so many more convenient, horrifying places it could've been written- hell, if it was Lita choosing the symbol's placement, Stiles would've woken up the next morning to find it carved on the wall beside him. But if it was really the nogitsune who put it there, as Stiles had told her, it had to mean something.
It had to mark something.
Lita stood up from her place on the couch, walking over to the wall. Curling her hand into a fist, she knocked lightly on the supposedly solid stone wall, hearing a faint echo from behind, indicating that it wasn't as solid as she'd initially thought. A quick glance back at Stiles revealed that he was equally curious, yet surprised, as she was; he hadn't even thought that the mark could've been symbolizing something more than his impending possession.
The brunette's eyes scanned around her before quickly landing on a broken piece of pipe; one that definitely looked strong enough to break through the wall. She would've gone with the cliché option to passing it off to Stiles, but Lita knew she was stronger- and angrier. She was a psychopath who liked breaking things, and she sure as hell wasn't going to bypass an opportunity to break through a wall. She'd had her fair share of punching holes in walls, but this was admittedly her first time getting to use an actual weapon.
Lita wasted no time taking a swing at the wall with the pipe, following up with another soon after. By the time she managed to break away the majority of it, debris was littering most of the floor around her & Lita looked almost as crazy as when she was first admitted to Eichen (minus the blood). Nonetheless, Stiles paid no attention to that as he approached the ruins; his sights locked on what lied beyond.
Slouched against the wall within the small hidden room, lifeless & decaying, was the bandage-wrapped corpse of the one & only nogitsune. Neither teen had any clue of how he could've possibly gotten there (the building would've had to have been built around him) or if this was just another one of his many tricks, but both were equally stunned by the scene. Even Lita, who'd seen just about everything there was to see, (including the inside of a dog's heart) was dumbfounded by the demon's body.
She knew it was him from the moment she saw it- the body was identical to the one she'd seen in her dream (er, nightmare). The only detail his lifeless corpse lacked was the razor sharp teeth, and ability to worry someone as monstrously crazy as Lita, simply by speaking (and creepily walking towards her, whilst they were trapped in a padded room. Lita liked to think the setting, and the chains binding her wrists to the wall accounted for most of her worry).
"This is him, isn't it?" Lita questioned, already knowing the answer. She turned slightly to the side, seeing Stiles nod softly, his gaze never leaving the body- not even to see Lita's grip tighten on the metal pipe in her hand as she slowly moved it behind her back & out of sight.
After about a minute of staring, Lita found her eyes drifting away from the nogitsune & onto the small room that'd confined him for who knew how long. It had to have been years, maybe decades, that the body had been down there- and if the demon himself had wanted Lita & Stiles to find it, then there had to be something on it that was of use to them in his game.
"Maybe you should check his pockets?" The psychopath suggested, her grip on the pipe tightening even more. She could feel her heart hammering with anticipation, just waiting for Stiles to turn his back on her- then, she could set her plan into motion. Still, she managed to mask it all with innocent curiosity as she turned to Stiles shrugging at his look of alarm. "There might be something that could help."
Stiles nodded hesitantly, his stare staying on Lita for a split second longer before he stepped inside the small room. It smelled horrid; the oxygen having no way to circulate properly in the enclosed area for so long, causing it to fill with the scent of a rotting body. Stiles tried hard to ignore it to the best of his abilities as he crouched down, reaching into the lifeless corpse's pocket & pulling out a photograph.
Even in the dim lighting, he could tell exactly who it was- she was the newcomer, and after their memorable first time meeting including the educational conversation about bardo that started it all, Stiles couldn't possibly forget her. Kira Yukimura, the seemingly innocent girl with a crush on his best friend, appeared to be in the aged photograph; alongside a mysterious man they had yet to meet. Feeling a sudden rush of panic at the realization that Kira could somehow be more involved than they thought, Stiles muttered nervously, "I need to get this to Scott."
At that moment, the loud clang of metal echoed through the basement as the metal pipe connected with Stiles' skull. Not even a second after the impact, he fell to the floor unconscious, whilst Lita snatched the photo from his hand & returned it to the nogitsune's pocket. "What Scott doesn't know won't hurt him- but I will"
The brunette smirked, standing back up to exit the room, but as she spun around, she wasn't met with the broken wall- she was met with the buzz of a taser, and the sight of Stiles' roommate, Oliver, blocking her way out. Lita once again tightened her grip on the pipe, ready to hit whomever necessary to move forward with her plan. But to her surprise, as Oliver glanced down to see Stiles unconscious behind her, he stepped out of her way, allowing her to leave the small room without so much as a threat.
Lita's brows furrowed, her stare remaining locked on Oliver as she cautiously stepped over the small bit of wall she hadn't smashed away. It was only when she took notice of the figure in her peripheral vision, that she knew why he was letting her leave without a scratch. A smirk quickly formed on her lips as her eyes darted down to the taser in his right hand, then over to the syringe of Haldol in his left, & that was when it hit her that she didn't need a genius, intricate plan to help the nogitsune gain control over Stiles.
All she needed was Oliver.

UNEDITED.
wow you probably thought they were gonna frick frack but nOPE.
i want to apologize for my lack of updates lately, i've basically been on a mini-hiatus without saying so & I feel bad. I was supposed to update yesterday, but then i got stung by a bee that decided to crawl up my leg at lunch & stalked by a seal at the shore afterwards & it was a very, very, very bad day. but nonetheless, here it is- can you tell that i really wanted them to make out? i can. i didn't do it, because it would be out of character for stiles; he doesn't like her, and lita knows it; so she won't do anything until he does (do you see where i'm going with this? once the nogitsune takes control.. he'll probably do something... it's 4:30am i'm bad at hinting, deal with it)
as always, comment opinion? c:
