Chapter Nineteen-The Return
↬Chapter Nineteen-The Return↬
↬↬↬
I only own Jade/Camilla and my ideas.
Jade walked through the forest alone as she held onto her knives. Despite nothing happening in the village or around it, she knew that people didn't like her and would probably try and harm her, she'd rather be safe than end up six feet under the ground.
As she walked, she kept her hood up and head low. She watched as her feet crunched on twigs and leaves as she headed towards her house.
After minutes of walking, she'd finally arrived back into the village. Before entering the place, she stood at the edge as she stared within the small gathering of the huts. Jade watched how everyone was happy and smiling, she watched how nothing seemed to bother them.
Jade took in a breath before walking into the village. She noticed the facial expressions on everyone change from happiness and amazement to disgust and unpleasant. They watched as the eldest Stiltskin walked past them all. One even stuck their leg out, causing her to fall.
"Get out of this village, you vile disgrace of a child." One spat.
"Can't you see, no one wants you here. No one, not your father, not your brother and not us!" Another called.
The words continued when she walked up to her house and opened the door. They finished once she shut the door and she was inside. As soon as she was inside, she slid down till she sat with legs against her chest and done something she hasn't done since they found out their mother had died.
She cried.
Jade Stiltskin, a girl who had the capacity of building up her fillings till she broke.
And this was one of them. She couldn't handle it, she couldn't handle the pain it brought to her mind, but there was nothing she could do about it, she was weak. She was nothing but a pathetic excuse of a person. Maybe they were right about her, she didn't know.
The only thing she knew was to cry and to let out her feelings, even if it made her feel weak.
"Hi!" Granny said as she entered Mart Margaret's apartment for her welcome home party.
"Hey! How are you? Would you like some?" Archie asked as he handed Granny a drink and took the tray of food that she brought with her.
"All of these people... just to welcome me home?" Mary Margaret asked Emma.
"You've got a lot of friends." Emma simply responded.
"Didn't feel like that yesterday." Mary Margaret said with a slight shrug as she brought a platter of drinks over to some guests, "Here you go."
"Thank you." The guests thank.
Henry looked towards the direction of Mr Gold before speaking to August saying, "How bad was it?"
"Getting caught in his office?" August asked before shrugging, "Not bad. I played it off."
"What were you looking for? Did you find it?" Henry asked.
"Nope. But I have a feeling it's going to find me." August told as he gestured towards Mary Margaret. "There she is. Why don't you give her your present?"
Henry picked up a gift and a card off the table before turning to Mary Margaret says, "Hey, I have something for you." He handed the card to her.
"Thank you." Mary Margaret smiled before reading the card aloud, "'We're so glad you didn't kill Mrs Nolan.'"
In the card was a bunch of names from her class with we're so glad you didn't kill Mrs Nolan written in the middle. The names had small messages with them saying near enough the same thing.
"It's from the whole class." Henry stated before he shook the present, "And I got you a bell."
"Thank you. Tell everyone I'll be back soon." Mary Margaret smiled.
"Okay." Henry nodded.
Mary Margaret looked over to Camilla who hadn't left her side since she was free.
"You let them write it?" Mary Margaret asked with a risen brow.
"Actually the kids came up with what to write and I just wrote it down. It took a long time to do, we did a vote on which one they preferred and plus it's what they wanted so in a way it came from them." Camilla explained with a shrug.
"Camilla is it alright if you take Henry home before his mom finds out? That won't be pretty if she does." Emma asked the female.
"Yeah sure. He's got homework to do anyway." Camilla nodded. Emma gave her a smile before she opened the apartment door to find David standing outside.
"Hey. Hey Henry. Hey Cam. Leaving already?" David asked as he looked at the three.
"Yeah. Gotta get home and do homework." Henry told as Emma looked towards Mary Margaret who simply shook her head.
Emma stopped David as he started to enter the apartment saying, "She's kinda tired. I think if you just give it some time."
"I just wanted to-" David began before getting cut off.
"Hey, Henry, why don't you head home with David and Camilla?" Emma asked.
"Okay." Henry agreed.
"Sorry," Emma said towards the man.
"Okay." David shrugged as he left the party with Henry and Camilla. Emma closed the door once they had left.
"Hard to let him go, isn't it? Your son." Gold asked as Emma closed the door.
"Yeah. Pretty much the hardest thing. Speaking of something we weren't talking about, was it you?" Emma asked, changing the subject quite quickly.
"Was what me?" Gold questioned confused.
"Did you make Kathryn suddenly materialize?" Emma asked before continuing, "'Cause it sure played that way to me. Was that the magic you were going to work? Because if you kidnapped that poor, innocent woman just to let her go-"
"-Are you proposing I'm working with Regina or against her?" Gold asked cutting Emma off.
"I don't know. Maybe diagonally." Emma responded.
"Well, you keep working on that one. My question's about something else. What do you know about him?" Gold asked as he gestured towards August.
"Goes by August. He's a writer. Typewriter wrapped in an enigma wrapped in stubble." Emma explained before asking, "Why?"
"He was poking around my shop today. August Wayne Booth, clearly a false name. There's one thing I know about, it's named." Gold told.
"Writers go by pseudonyms. What does it matter?" Emma asked a little confused.
"You trust him?" Gold asked, raising a brow.
"Yeah. A lot more than I trust you." Emma told before she went over to August and began to talk to him while Mr Gold watched the two.
Jade sobbed as the words of the villagers replayed on her mind. Footsteps came towards her as she quickly whipped away her tears. She quickly got up and acted as if there wasn't anything wrong.
"Jay, why are you crying?" Bae asked the girl.
"I wasn't." She lied. She didn't want him to get involved in what was bothering her as she thought that it was best.
"Well, your cheeks are puffy and your eyes are watering, so somethings wrong." Bae told, "plus, the only other time I saw you cry was when papa told us about our mother being dead."
What slightly surprised the boy was the fact that she pulled him into a hug. Though she'd done it many times before it was only because Baelfire had hugged her first, she'd rarely hug him first. If Jade hugged him first, he knew that something was wrong.
"Bae, I'm sorry," Jade muttered.
"Why are you sorry? There's nothing to be sorry about." Baelfire responded as the both of them pulled away from the hug.
"I can't stay here anymore," Jade told as she looked down towards the floor.
Camilla currently sat on the grass as she watched Henry play in the park. She sat with her legs laying out in front of her while she held a Monster in her hand.
"What do you want, August?" Camilla asked before the man even had the chance to sit beside her.
"I just wanted to ask you about stuff that may be related to being a thief," August explained.
"Lemme guess, you stole from Gold's shop. Big mistake, he's got a tendency to follow or rattle you out to the sheriff but it appears he chose to follow you." Camilla pointed out.
"Oh I know he's following. That's the entire point." August told.
"Seriously? You need to get checked out."
"Yeah, I'm serious. And no I don't need to get checked out."
"Anyway, what do you want to know about being a thief?" Camilla asked the man.
August released a small breath, "how do you steal something without being caught?"
The Hopper child took a sip from her Monster, "Hmm, well you don't touch anything apart from the object you require, you make sure that you've planned it, you don't get caught, you make sure that you don't get spotted by anyone else who's around and I think that's about it." She shrugged a little.
Gold watched as the two talked to each other. They're returned, at last, the older man thought with a small smile.
"Wait, you got caught? What were you even looking for?" Camilla asked as her eyebrows knitted together.
"Yeah I got caught, I was looking in his office and he caught me. Don't worry about it, just something that I guess is slightly important to me." August responded.
"You know, if you want to gain my trust, you're going to have to trust me. Emma told me that you wanted my trust, the only way to get it is if you show me you trust me." Camilla told with a slight shrug.
There was a small silence between the two as Camilla stood up before asking, "why'd you ask me on 'how to be a thief?'"
"Because I wanted to know where I went wrong." August told, "I guess I'll see you around, Camilla." The man got up and left her looking slightly confused though she shrugged it off.
"Henry! We've gotta get back! You've got homework!" Camilla called out as the said big cans running over to her.
Baelfire looked at his sister in confusion and shock of what she had said. If he had to be honest, he never thought that he'd hear her say the words.
"What? Why?" The smaller boy asked.
"Because I don't belong in this village, if I leave then it'll give you a better chance of having a life than being known as 'the younger brother of the disgraced child of the Stiltskin's'" Jade responded.
"You're not a disgrace. You're different, you're you." Bae told.
Jade didn't say anything. She didn't know what to say. Jade looked at the floor. Within a few seconds, the giggle of their father filled their home.
"Well, what do we have here?" Rumpelstiltskin asked with a grin.
"Nothing," Jade responded.
"Well, it doesn't seem like nothing." The father said.
"You know what, don't worry, you wouldn't care anyway," Jade stated before walking off to her room.
An hour passed and within that time Jade had made sure that all of her knives were gathered and hidden around her body like in her boots, up to her sleeves and some just in her pockets. She held her quiver of arrows over her shoulder as she held her bow in her hand.
She walked out of her house as she was going to meet with a nearby thief who was willing enough going to teach her how to shoot an arrow. Jade grabbed her navy blue cape as she placed it over her shoulders before she walked out of the house.
"Look there she is! There's that whore of a girl." A man yelled not only grabbing the attention of every other villager but the girl herself.
The villagers piled out of their houses and onto the street with pitch-forks and lightened sticks, they all strode over to the girl with their weapons. Jade had frozen on the spot not knowing what to do with herself, she heard the familiar giggle from none other than Rumplestiltskin.
"Better run, dearie." He laughed as he joined in with the crowd that now had her backed away in a corner.
She didn't know what to do, all that she wanted to do was burst into tears, she didn't know what she did to this people to make them hate her so much but she knew that the only person who would make someone turn on another would be her father.
"Kill her!" A male voice boomed as another yelled, "let's set her on fire!" The yelling only grew worse.
Tears were rolling down her face as she quickly wiped them away. The villagers grew closer and closer, they got that close to her that she could feel the heat from the flickering flames which burned.
Jade closed her eyes for a moment as she held one of her knives in her hand before opening them. She noticed how the door of her house opened and a small boy came running out.
"Jade!" Bae called out, "Papa! Make them stop, they're going to kill her!"
Rumpelstiltskin turned to his favourite child before saying, "they won't do that much but they sure will do the business for me." A smirk grew on his face as the surroundings of the familiar village seemed to disappear from her vision.
Everything seemed to fade from her sight as a jungle seemed to appear all around her. Jade looked around as she noticed that she wasn't in the Enchanted Forest, she was on an island. A place of which she didn't know the name of.
Jade turned on the spot as she noticed that she was on the beach before the forest met the sand. Taking a deep breath and gripping onto the knives of which lay within the palms of her hands. She gripped on them as if her life depended on it.
Well to her, her life did depend on her knives protecting her. After all, she didn't know the island and those who lived on it.
One step, two step, three step. Before she knew it she was walking deeper and deeper into the forest. Jade's head was continually going from left to right to straightforward to back.
The noises of the creatures which roamed the land kept called out made Jade's breath become slightly heavy as panic started to set in.
"Are you lost?" A male voice asked behind her, the voice sounded as if he was the same age as her. At the sound of the voice Jade had turned around to see a boy who leaned against a tree, if she had, to be honest, he seemed kinda cute, the male voice spoke again saying, "you look lost."
"I-im not...okay maybe I am. Where am I? What even is this place?" Jade asked the boy, he grinned a little before he responded with, "Neverland."
"Neverland?" The girl questioned, she had heard stories - more like rumours - about the place of which time stood still but she would never have guessed that people had lived on the island.
The boy nodded before asking, "why are you here?"
"I was sent here...." Jade trailed off, "by my father."
"Well, this island is for children who feel unwanted by their parents." The boy explained, "you can join me and my Lost Boys. We live on the island, this is a place of dreams, where dreams run wild."
For some reason the boy made her feel welcome, a smile slightly grew on her face, "that'll be great."
"Follow me." The boy instructed as the two started to head off deeper into the forest.
"Thank you for doing this. I'm Jade, Jade Stiltskin." The girl told him.
"It's okay, anything for a new guest. I'm Peter Pan." The newly introduced boy responded.
Around five minutes later, both Jade and Peter were in a camp in which Peter called home. Fire lit up the area as Jade watched the boys enjoying themselves, it made her think of home but a more relaxed environment. She smiled at them knowing how free they were and how much fun they were having.
Jade sat on a fallen down tree as she fiddled with one of the many knives of which she had on her. Though distracted, the Stiltskin child seemed to jump slightly when she heard a boy next to her clearing his voice she looked back at the boy who had scared her. He had blonde hair as a scare covered most of his face.
"I've never seen Pan be so interested in someone before, especially someone female." The blond-haired boy stated as he looked at the Stiltskin.
"Maybe because it's an island that's full of guys and I'm the only female that's near enough his age that he's seen in a while." Jade rolled her eyes at the boy. Her voice had a hint of sarcasm within it though she was confused as as to why there were barely any females.
"Sarcastic, nice. Names Felix." The named boy told as the girl said, "Jade and you might want to get used to the sarcasm, I may be here a while."

Right, I know that in the backstory/flashback (whatever you wanna call it) I've already done how Jade got to Neverland, but I wanted you guys to know what lead up to it. As well compared to when I wrote it in the second chapter, in this I wanted to add a lot more detail into it and obviously have the little scene with Baelfire.
To be honest writing this chapter was hard especially be Storybrooke parts as I actually had no idea what the hell to do for it. As for the flashback, it brought a tear to my eye, especially when it can't to the villagers being dickheads and shit.
So close of finishing season 1! Then that's when the slightly interesting stuff happens!
