Chapter Forty Nine-Nasty Habits
↬Chapter Forty Nine-Nasty Habits↬
↬↬↬
I only own Jade/Camilla and my ideas.
Camilla was sat in the treehouse with her Navy cape wrapping round her. There was that small part of her which hated the fact that her father still managed to find a way to make her overthink a situation. She sat on the floor with nothing more than complete stress, she forgot completely that her dad was on the island with them. She knew she shouldn't have forgotten, but with everything which happened, it seemed to slip her mind. How could she have forgotten that the person who caused her so much pain was on the very island he took her from?
She tried her best to shake the feeling away, though the note in her hand had made her think about it more. Camilla knew that it might be best to get rid of it, but there was a part of her which didn't want to get rid of the note - it made her remember everything she ever felt, every bit of anger which flooded her whenever she used to talk about what he did. Though she knew that she shouldn't hold onto anger, it had always gotten her in the worst situations that it was normally a struggle to get out of.
Camilla knew that she should just rid herself of the cape and the note along with any other thought of her father, but she knew that there was no way that she'd ever be able to forget what he did. Her anger of the abuse he done to her was something which kept her fighting, kept her knowing that she needed to be strong enough to stop that from ever happening to anyone else.
She wrapped herself up more with the cape, trying to find more comfort within it as it used to - yet no matter how much she tried, there was this looming feeling of discomfort. She knew that it was because of knowing that Gold had given it to her, but no matter what she always found comfort with her cape. However, even this time she felt a little uncomfortable, though she tried her best to close her eyes in hopes that this feeling might go away.
Jade and Baelfire was sat within their home, the sunlight poured into their front room. They had sat in silence for most of the day as their thoughts took them away. Baelfire was doodling on a parchment of paper while Jade was fiddling with a dagger.
What had brought the two out of their thoughts was the creaking sound of the door opening and their father's voice. "Bae?"
The door shut itself as Rumple made his way over to his son. "A present." In his hands was a knife. "Something to sharpen your coal with."
Rumplestiltskin had then slammed it on the table beside Baelfire. Jade only rolled her eyes, despite the fact that she was somewhat glad that there was another weapon in the house - despite that the knife was small - though she was also glad that it was going towards Baelfire.
Bae had reached for it. "Where did you get it?"
Rumple had seemed almost too pleased with himself. "Oh, from a man who no longer needed it."
"You mean taken from a man who couldn't pay you." Baelfire corrected.
Since Rumplestiltskin got more confident with his powers, a lot more people had come to him for help all for a price. Those who were unable to pay, had died. Though within the growing confidence in his power, the one thing of which both Baelfire and Jade had noticed was how other villagers would either be kinder to them or avoid them as much as possible. However, another thing of which Jade had noticed more was the fact that the villagers had grown more mean towards her.
The seventeen-year-old had been confused, she wasn't sure as to why they were mean to her alone. Though the one thing of which she did notice was that whenever she was with Baelfire, nothing was said, they only avoided them or was nice - though mainly towards Baelfire.
"Bae..." Rumple began.
"Papa," Baelfire snapped, "I told you, I don't want any more gifts from the people you terrorize." He had then flung the knife across the table as it then thumped on the ground.
"Then what do you want?" Rumple asked. "Tell me, son. What would make you happy?"
"Leaving this place, with Jade." Baelfire spoke as he shot up from his seat. "I'm tired of staying in this hovel all the time."
"Well, that's easy to fix." Rumple spoke, clearly ignoring the part about Jade. "How about a castle, huh? I could build you a palace so magnificent, it's shadow would blanket the countryside."
Baelfire had then turned to face him. "That's not what I mean. I wanna go out, have friends, see the world beyond these four walls. Papa, why can't you just trust me to do that? You trust Jade enough!"
Jade's head pricked up as she then went to observe the conversation. She kept quiet; she knew that this was one thing of which Baelfire wanted more than anything. Ever since their father got this power, he had been somewhat more controlling and demanding that they stay in. He had told Jade that she was the only one out of the two who could go out, though that was only for supplies and such.
"I do trust you, Bae. It's - it's others that I can't." Rumple spoke. Baelfire had shot Jade a small look, over their father's shoulder. "You see, I have many enemies beyond that door. And once you leave, any one of them could hurt you."
Baelfire had then stared at his father, one of which he was used to seeing on Jade. "You sure that's the only reason? Maybe what you're really worried about is if I leave, I might never come back."
When the fourteen-year-old spoke, he moved to where he was sat beforehand. Rumplestiltskin seemed to watch him in doing so, giving him a somewhat concerned look.
"No, no. I...I'm worried about your safety. This is the best place for you. I don't know what I'd do if I ever lost you." Rumple spoke as he stared down at the boy who was sat where he found him before.
Jade rolled her eyes. If there was one thing of which she knew she was gonna do, it was the fact that she would teach Baelfire how to defend himself, so that just maybe Baelfire's desire to go outside may come true. Hell, she'll drag him out whenever she has to grab supplies for them.
In the middle of the jungle, back with Emma, Regina, Hook, and the others; they were all standing around making plans to get Henry and Camilla away from Pan's camp with the help of Tinker Bell. Though, as much as Hook liked Camilla and wanted her safety, he knew that it would be best to leave her here, on the island. Hook wanted to voice his opinion, though he knew that they would all yell at him for even thinking such a thing; though the one thing of which did confuse Hook, since they got here, was the fact that they all seemed to not like Camilla as much yet they were willing to rip her away from the place which made her happy.
"This is where they're keeping Henry and Cam." Emma spoke, she and her mother were sat on a rock as Emma marked the dirt with a stick. "Pan's compound. According to, uh..."
"Tinker Bell," Tink spoke, filling in where Emma trailed off. The former fairy had been pacing since they started discussing this entire thing.
"Yes, I know. Still weird to say." Emma admitted.
"Tink is fine," the fairy said.
"Not sure that's any better." Emma muttered. "Anyway, she says that there are sentries positioned across the front, which is why we are gonna come in through the back entrance here."
Emma had then gestured to where they'd be entering. She then moved her stick pointing it to Tink. "She's gonna talk her way in. Once she makes sure the coast is clear, then we are going to sneak on in."
Tinker Bell had picked up a blanket as she looked towards the group. "You'll still have to deal with any Lost Boys once you're inside."
"I think we can handle a few children with pointy sticks." Regina stated.
"It's not the sticks you need to worry about. It's the poison they're dipped in." Tinker Bell warned. "Plus, that isn't the worse part, you'll have to deal with Jade, she's protective of those boys, they're basically her children."
Upon the warning about the poison, Hook and David shared a look. Though the rest seemed to tense up about the warning of Jade. There was a small part of them which forgot about how protective she had gotten before she was taken, and they forgot about what Gold had said about her being mother of the island.
"Dreamshade. Hook warned us," Mary Margaret said. "Jade wouldn't be a threat to us, anyway."
Tink tilted her head slightly, confused though she shrugged it off. "Good, because one nick, and you'll spend the last of -"
"-Poison sticks equal death. We get it." David cut in. "Now when can we put this rescue mission into action?"
"I'm ready to go, just as you tell me the exit plan." Tink spoke.
They all were silent, if there was one thing of which they all forgot to do - it was definitely making an exit plan. They had all shared a look, one of which concerned Tinker Bell more than anything.
Looking down towards Emma, Tink spoke: "You do have an escape plan, don't you?"
"It's - it's more of a last-minute trip." Mary Margaret admitted.
"If you don't have an escape plan, then none of this matters." Tink spoke with her arms extended out.
Regina had then gotten up from where she stat. "We'll figure it out."
"You'll figure it out?" Tink repeated. "No one comes and goes from this place unless he allows it."
"Then how did Camilla do it?" David questioned.
Tinker Bell gave him a confused look. "Who?"
"Jade Stiltskin," Regina spoke. "She got off this island." Unwillingly, but still.
"Jade left the island?" Tink questioned. "No wonder why Pan and the Lost Boys got harsher."
"You never knew?" Hook asked, giving the fairy a look.
Tink shook her head. "No. But I was aware of certain changes. Look, if what you're saying is true, and your friends - I presume - with her, and you brought her here, it's best to leave-"
"-We don't leave-" David began.
"-You have to. Listen to me, Pan and the Lost Boys love her, more than anyone could, more than what you think. She has an effect on all of them, you try and take her away from Pan, from the Lost Boys, then you might as well bury yourselves. She is the mother of those boys, she is Pan's happiness, and from what I can tell this entire island is her happiness. When she was here, she loved it, not because of the island, but because she finally was able to know what a healthy relationship was. If you decide to take her away, she'll be miserable - and by the looks of it, she's already ditched you for the people she cares more about." Tink ranted.
The others had looked at Tink with surprise, they hadn't thought about Camilla's happiness, they hadn't realised just how much she wanted to be back here. They hadn't thought about Jade and her emotions at all.
"Tink's right," to their surprise, Hook was the one who spoke. "Even back in Storybrooke I could tell how miserable she was, she wasn't happy. She's needed here, more than you know, mate."
David had given both Hook and Tink a look. "When it comes to family, we always find a way." Even when it comes to their happiness.
Tink looked at David, her stare was harsh. "You don't get it." She then reached into her pocket. "Here, let me show you something." She had gotten out a watch. "You know what this is?"
"A watch," Emma stated.
"I got it from the people who brought your son here for Pan." Tink explained.
Both Emma and Mary Margaret shot up immediately. "Greg and Tamara?! Where are they? Why's they give you that?"
"I got it off the girl's body." Tink stated. "Spent half the night cleaning the blood off it." She placed the watch back in her pocket. "And the other guy, well, there wasn't enough left of him to find anything useful. This is what Pan does to people he employs. What do you think he's gonna do to you?"
None of them responded. Tink continued, anyway, "I'm not sticking my neck on Pan's chopping block without a way off this island. When you figure that out," she started to walk away, "you know where I live."
Mary Margaret, slightly panicked, whispered, "Where the hell is she going?"
"I'll get her and bring her back." David spoke as he then went to follow.
"Don't. She's right." Emma said, making her father stop in his tracks. "If there's one thing I've learned, you never break in somewhere unless you know the way out."
Regina simply gave her a look as she crossed her arms. "And where'd you get that, in bail bondsperson school?"
"Neal taught me that." Emma corrected, shooting Regina a look.
Regina's face seemed to somewhat soften at the mention of Neal. David had then turned to Hook. "What about you, Hook? You got off this island before."
Hook took a few steps forward. "Yes, aboard my ship, which would require some form of magic to create a portal, which I got from Pan in a deal I don't think he's ready to repeat."
"So, no one's ever left the island without Pan's permission." Regina stated.
"Two people." Hook told, then looking towards Emma. "Her partner in crime Neal. And his sister, Jade."
Emma seemed to now be intrigued. "How?"
Hook shifted on his feet. "For Neal, maybe we can find out. For Jay, I don't think Regina and Rumple would remember."
Hook had then walked away as Emma stared at the pirate before she and the rest of the group followed Hook into the jungle.
Gold was walking throughout the jungle in hopes to possibly find out where Pan was keeping Henry. Though throughout his walk, he managed to overhear the sounds of Lost Boys talking among themselves. It seemed as if they were arguing with each other, they mentioned how Pan was the one who told them to keep a look out just in case.
Gold had then noticed where these voices had come from. He noticed a path which lead to a clearing where he saw the Lost Boys he overheard. He walked towards the clearing and towards the Lost Boys, though at the sound of rustling form the bushes, the two Lost Boys had turned and pointed their sticks towards Gold.
"Stop by order of Pan!" One ordered.
However, at an instant, Gold moved his arm as pink dust seemed to come flooding over the two boys making them fall to the ground.
"I don't take orders." Gold muttered to himself.
Gold had then went over to one of the Lost Boys and had grabbed their spear. He stared at it just for a moment before he had then heard the sound as if someone were running to him.
Gold had then whipped around to see how Neal had come running to where Gold was. It was one thing of which Gold definitely didn't expect at all. He thought his son dead, but to see that he was in fact alive, made him shocked.
Neal had skidded to a stop, though he almost tripped while Gold held up the spear. It hadn't occurred that this was his son until a few moments. Gold dropped his arm which held the spear in somewhat shock.
"Bae?" Gold questioned in a whisper.
Gold couldn't believe what he was seeing, he thought his son to be dead, that's what he had been told at least. His mind must be playing tricks on him, Neal must be a vision, just like what Belle is. This can't be real, could it?
"You're not real." Gold spoke, somewhat harshly. Though there was hurt in his voice when he spoke, "You're dead."
Confusion was all of which went through Neal. "What?" He gave his father a look. "Of course, I'm real. What the hell's going on?!"
"You're a vision, just like Belle." Gold spoke.
There was something of which Neal noticed, quickly. He recognised the look from anyone who pissed Rumple off - or when he wasn't in the best of minds. Neal instantly went defensive, there was a part of him which wanted Camilla to be there with him, just to convince their father that this was all real that it wasn't all a trick.
"No. No, hey." Neal said, raising his hand. Gold walked towards him with the spear in his hands while Neal took a few steps back. "Listen to me. It's me. I was shot. Okay? But I survived. See? I'm alive."
Gold instantly shoved his hand over Neals' neck, making his son back up against a tree. The spear in Gold's other hand was pointed towards Neal. "My son is dead! You're just here to remind me of my failure!"
"That's not why I'm here," Neal instantly spoke.
"My weakness," Gold hissed.
"Put the spear down," Neal pleaded.
"You're here to question my resolve. But you won't succeed. I will sacrifice my life for Henry. And nothing will stand in my way!" Gold snapped.
In a more hushed voice, Neal begged, "Please, papa."
"Bae?" Gold asked, in the same hushed tone. "Is that really you?"
"Yeah." Neal responded.
It was then that the spear thudded onto the ground. The small panic of being stabbed seemed to vanish from Neal at an instant.
"I thought I'd lost you forever." Gold spoke.
Throughout the night, Jade had been sat awake, the fire was still lit for she wouldn't allow it to rest. Her eyes were glued to it as she watched the flames dance. In a way watching fire had always calmed her in more ways of which she cared to admit.
Baelfire had been asleep for an hour or two, though as much as Jade tried to get some sleep, she couldn't. Her thoughts was something of which kept her awake at night, though tonight the thoughts of which kept her up was about the conversation of which played out between her brother and her nitwit of a father.
She hated him so much, all she ever wanted was a father and in return she got an asshole who hated her. No matter how much she tried to please him, she couldn't. No matter how much work she had done whether it was looking after Bae or anything else he had asked, all she got in return was hate. She hated that she put in so much work to please her father just so that she could feel accepted and all she got in return was hate.
Jade wasn't sure how long she was sat there, though when she had gotten up to look out the window night had overcome the sky for what it seemed like hours. However, there was something different in the air that night, like there was something bound to happen.
It was then that she heard it. The sound of a pipe being played. It sent a shiver down her spine though she wasn't sure as to why, though there was something comforting about it. To her it felt as if it was calling her, telling her to follow it - and she wanted to.
There was a creek from behind her. "You here it too? The music?"
To her surprise it was Baelfire who asked. She nodded her head. "Yeah I hear it."
It felt like an itch that you couldn't scratch, she wanted to see where the music lead. She wanted to see why whoever played it decided to play it now, halfway through the night.
A small smirk seemed to spread on her lips. "Wanna check it out?" She sent him a look, he sent her a small nod.
Jade had then put on her cape as the pair had then exited their home, following the sound of the pipped music. There was this joy which filled Jade, like wherever this music took her, she would feel as if she belonged. And maybe this would be a place where both her and Baelfire would finally feel happy without their unloving father in the picture.
Gold had backed away from Neal, in somewhat shock. He was confused - if that was the correct way to put it. He thought that Neal was dead, but to know that he was alive, it shocked him, though he was now concerned as to what the hell happened.
"How is it possible?" Gold asked, finally.
"It's kind of a long story," Neal admitted as he picked up the spear. "Let's just say that the debt Robin Hood owes you has been paid."
"You were back in our land?" Gold questioned, narrowing his eyes.
"Yeah, but I made it here." Neal told. "The only thing that matters now is that I help Emma save Henry. And make sure that Camilla is okay, and that she's not dead. Where are they?"
"I left them and the rest of them aboard Hook's ship." Gold admitted. "As noble as their intentions may be, they don't have the stomach to do what needs to be done."
"Like what you did to these boys?" Neal asked as he then walked over towards the two boys. "Jay's not gonna be pleased if she finds out about this, you don't realise how much they all mean to her." He cleared his throat as he grabbed one of the Lost Boy's quiver. "They're not, uh..."
Gold somewhat shook his head. "No, they're just sleeping. For now."
"Let's leave it that way, okay?" Neal spoke.
If there was one thing of which Neal knew, it was the fact that he didn't want Jade on him and Gold for even hurting any one of them. He remembered the time that he was captured here on the island, how he'd hear the occasional talk of the Lost Boys saying things about Jade, how much they looked up to her and such.
"You don't have the stomach either." Gold commented, noticing the slight distance in his son's face.
"I'll do what needs to be done," Neal informed. "But killing lost boys? We don't have to do that."
"We shall see." Gold said.
It was then that Neal shook his head. "No, I don't want any of these boys to die, no matter what. Don't do it for my sake, do it for Jade's. Whatever hate that you have for her, push it down, these boys are practically her children, and considering how you acted with me, think about the kind of pain of which you'll put her through. You'll give her another reason to want to kill you, and I don't think I'll be able to stop her."
Gold hadn't said anything. He looked away, there was this sudden tug of guilt which flooded a small, small part of him - despite knowing that she is mother of the island, he never thought about what it actually meant to her. He never knew the kind of relationship that she had with all of the lost boys, though from the way of which Neal spoke, it sounds as if there's more to the relationship than anything else.
Maybe because of the relationship of which she has with the lost boys could help them all. Or even better, maybe her relationship with Pan and that bracelet could help him in any way possible. Gold had to think of as many plans and as many possibilities as possible just in case one plan fails, that way it'll be best for him not to fail what he came to Neverland for.
Drawing Gold away from his thoughts and back into reality, Neal had asked: "So, I take it you have a plan? The whole 'sacrifice your life' thing was just you being dramatic."
"Well, it's the only way," Gold admitted. "Pan's too powerful. You can only beat him if you're willing to die, which I am."
"What if I told you there was another way?" Neal asked. "Two ways, actually."
Camilla had woken up from her little nap, though she would admit, she hadn't realised she went asleep. Maybe the month without sleep had a bad effect on her a lot more than she cared to admit. Though one of the first things of which she seemed to notice was Peter who seemed to fluster knowing that he had been caught.
Camilla rubbed her eyes, staring up at him. "What?"
Peter shrugged. "Nothing. Just checking that you're still here."
Camilla had given him an odd look. "You mean checking whether or not I went back to the people who don't like me much and would much rather the curse take hold of me?"
"I wouldn't put it like that, but those ideal people." Peter responded.
His eyes weren't at her, they were glaring at the cape which hung itself around her body. Camilla noticed the small look before handing him the note. To her surprise the note hadn't left her hand, which made Camilla realise just how much her hand hurt. Peter had taken the paper and read it; his face hadn't changed as if he knew that her father was here. Camilla had shot him a look of confusion.
"I hate him," Peter stated.
"You hate him, yet you know that he's on the island," Camilla commented, narrowing her eyes. "Surprised that you didn't decide to kill him."
Peter's eyes had softened slightly as he stared at her. "You know that there's only one way to kill him. And yes, I know that he's on the island, I've just been keeping him busy."
Camilla hadn't said anything, she simply nodded. There was that part of her which slowly felt unsafe on this island, it felt as if her safe place had been overrun by the people who she didn't want here. She wanted them all to leave. As selfish as it sounds, she wished that she never helped Snow all those years ago, maybe she wouldn't be in this situation.
"I want them gone," Camilla admitted, "all of them. I don't care how; I want them off of this island."
Peter's expression had changed. He hadn't seen her like this since her mother, and it honestly worried him in a way. "How would you care to do it?"
"I know it's Henry," Camilla spoke, her expression cold and dead. "I know that it's Henry who you need, the boy that you've been looking for."
"How'd you guess?" Peter asked, he was intrigued more than he cared to admit.
"I was aware that you were in search of someone since Baelfire, I've only just pieced it together that it was Henry." Camilla explained. "I know that when I first saw you when I arrived on the island with them, that you were lying, that there was something deeper."
Peter looked at her more surprised than anything. "You said that he was your nephew..."
"Yes, he is," Camilla nodded, her glare was mainly to the wall of the treehouse. "I don't know why you need Henry, all I know is it's about the Heart of the Truest Believer, though I will say this; I'll only step in against you if you decide to kill Henry. He means a lot to not just me, but everyone else, they'll blame me. They probably already think that I'm working with you - or they're assuming. All I'm going to do is occasionally help them, though I'll keep them off your path. By now they've found where you kept Baelfire, so it won't be long till they figure out how he got off this island."
Peter was silent for a moment. "What's changed your mind? I thought that the entire thing with Henry would be different?"
She then gestured to the cape - meaning her father, and then to her mind. "Let's just say I've had thirty-eight years to realise that this is the place where I'm meant to be. As well as knowing just how little I mean to everyone else."
A small smirk was written across both Camilla's and Peter's face. All of the emotions of which she felt, all of the emotions of which she kept bottled up was flowing through her veins as if it were giving her everything she needed. For over thirty years she had to hide behind the continued state of violence as and when needed, but now she felt as if she could be what wanted to show itself for years.
"It's good to see that the kind yet occasionally cruel Jade is back." Peter commented with a slight smirk.
"Well, I had to find my motive," Camilla grinned. "And this cape was all that I needed."
Peter smirked slightly. "Good," there was a small silence between the two before Peter had then put out his hand. "Come down to camp with me, I'm gonna get the pipe out."
Camilla shrugged slightly though she grabbed onto Peter's hand as he pulled her up. "Sure. Though I will admit, I never realised that you still had it, pipped piper."
"Well, I have an occasion which involves the pipe." Peter spoke. "I think it's time that I show you who I have."
Camilla had given him an odd look; she tilted her head slightly though she went with it.
It was the middle of the night in the town Hamelin, Rumplestiltskin was sat on the top of one of the houses, earlier that day he had tracked Baelfire to this town. He had waited there to find this Pipped Piper and hoped that this person would lead him to his son and daughter.
The moon hung low within the night, though the people of the town slept through it. Though what had brought Rumple out of his thoughts was the sound of a pipe in the distance playing a song. He knew that the pipe was in the distance, yet he was still able to hear it, along with every boy in the town.
He was confused to say the least with how his daughter was able to hear it considering that it was stated that the boys were the ones who heard and left. He wanted to know why his daughter allowed Bae to even leave, in a way he was pissed off to know that she allowed him to go just like that.
The boys within the town had opened their windows and had climbed out using rope. They all walked down the streets with the nightwear which they wore. Rumple had used this as a way to follow them, and he did.
Rumplestiltskin had followed the trail of boys to this camp site where various boys were laughing and dancing around the fire. There were drums being played in a certain tune while the boys of the town and those of which could hear as they danced. All of them were happy, they were all happy away from their family.
The fire in the middle of the little camp was illuminating all of the surroundings. The flicker of the flames had illuminated the familiar navy-blue cape which lay on the floor. Rumpelstiltskin's eyes narrowed towards the sight, if Jade was here then that means that Bae is there as well.
"Bae!" Rumple called out.
None of them took any notice of the man and his call. He had picked up his daughter's cape, though his main focus was to find Bae, he knew that wherever Bae was, Jade was close.
"Bae!" Rumplestiltskin called again.
The yells and piped tune continued, and it was then that Rumple grabbed one of the boys, pulling down their mask to see how it wasn't either one of his children. The boy went back to what he was doing when Rumple moved onto the next boy, who wasn't his son.
"Bae!" Rumple spoke. "Jade!"
He grabbed another boy who had a bear mask on, though that boy was not his son. There was a part of the male who was growing annoyed, all he wanted was his son - though he knew that he would have to bring back his daughter just so that his son will be somewhat happy.
Though it was then that his thoughts were disturbed as he noticed a person with a multicoloured cloak on as they played the pipe. The boy was somewhat dancing around the fire in the centre. As soon as Rumplestiltskin noticed the boy, a somewhat smirk rose on his face as he then went directly to him.
Rumplestiltskin had ripped the pipe from the boys' hand as the music was cut off. "Where are my children, piper?" The scaled man had broken the pipe in half with ease as he spoke.
"Is that what they're calling me?" The boy questioned. It was then that Peter flicked off his hood, staring at his old friend. "We both know who I really am."
Rumplestiltskin stared at the boy in some shock. It had been years since he saw Peter, actually it had been since he was a teenager - when his dear friend abandoned him.
"Been a long time, laddie." Peter spoke. "Glad you could make the show."
Peter smirked slightly at the sight of Rumple's confusion and slight pain which flickered through his features.
The boys along with Jade had danced around the fire, there was a part of Jade which had never felt more free. Her hair was shoved in a braid which occasionally hit against her back as she danced around the fire in front of her. She and Baelfire were either side of each other with not a single care in the world. They were happy with nothing to worry about.
However, she had noticed her father's arrival which she chose to ignore, she knew why he was here - considering that he yelled for them multiple times. However, at the moment he was speaking the pipped piper - who if Jade had to honest, she thought to be cute. Though what brought her out of her thoughts was Bae dragging her.
"You surprised to see me, Rumple?" Pan asked, giving him a small look. "I don't blame you. I'm a little surprised myself. Look who's all grown up and become the Dark One! Good for you."
Rumple - still in some form of shock - had struggled a little to keep his focus. "What are you doing here?"
"It's lonely in Neverland," Peter responded with a light shrug. "The only friends I have are the children who visit in their dreams, but they can't stay. The boys I take back with me will, along with the girl."
"You're here for my son," Rumple said, "and my daughter."
"I am." Peter simply responded.
Rumple pushed past as much emotion as he could - whatever he felt for seeing his old childhood friend again - instead, anger filled him. "It's gonna take a lot more than a magic pipe to take my son. And it's going to take a lot more to separate my children."
"The only thing magic about this pipe is that only certain boys can hear it - with the expectant of one - boys who feel unloved, boys who feel lost. I guess that's why you can hear it, Rumple. Isn't it?" Peter explained, shooting the man in front of him a look.
"Don't pretend to know me. You don't. Not anymore," Rumple snapped, taking a few steps forward.
"Oh, I think I do," Peter countered, "beneath all that power, you're nothing more than an unloved, lonely, lost boy." His face changed at the sound of 'lost boy', "Hey, I like the sound of that. That's what I'll call my new group of friends. The Lost Boys. It has a nice ring, don't you think?"
Rumplestiltskin looked at him with slight disbelief. "You can call them whatever you like. Baelfire will not be a part of it."
"I notice how you leave your daughter out of it; I can see why she can hear it." Peter stated. "Though I will say that he is already part of it. The question is, what are you willing to do to get him back? To get them both back?"
"I'm going to make you regret ever asking that question." Rumplestiltskin said.
"Oh, I understand you're upset. Most parents worst fear is that their child will be taken away from them. But that's not yours, is it, Rumple?" Peter spoke with this confidence. "No. You're not afraid Baelfire will be taken from you, you're afraid he'll leave. Just lie you're afraid that Jade is going to end up leaving you like her mother. After all, being abandoned is what you're good at, isn't it? Everyone you've ever known has left, haven't they? Like their mother, Milah. Not to mention your own father. Why should Baelfire and Jade be any different?"
"You're wrong." Rumple spoke.
"Am I? Well, let's find out, shall we? You ask Baelfire and Jade if they want to come to Neverland with me or stay here with you." Peter offered. "If he wants to stay, I'll leave and never return. Deal?"
In a way, Rumple was somewhat shocked that this was even an offer. "I don't have to make any deals with you."
"But why wouldn't you if you're so sure he'll stay? And that she'll stay?" Peter questioned.
Rumplestiltskin stood there stunned, he wasn't sure as to what to say. Was there anything to say when all he wanted was his son? Though he knew that his son wouldn't leave unless Jade came with them.
Peter had dragged Camilla down to where the Lost Boys were, they were all in a good mood which normally meat that they'd be willing enough to dance around. Felix was nowhere to be seen, which confused Camilla a lot - she could have sworn that he was there before she went up. She looked across the entire camp in hopes to see that he was here, though pouted when she couldn't see him. Though come to admit it, she couldn't see Devin, he must've been doing an extra job for Pan.
There was a familiar sound of the drums beating, it was something which she remembered perfectly before Neverland and even while she was on the island. It was the beat which made it feel as if she was truly home.
"What did you want to show me?" Camilla asked.
Peter hadn't said anything, he simply pointed to one corner of the camp where a familiar boy sat. Camilla could feel everything in her tense all of a sudden, she wasn't sure how long it was, but it felt like years. There was a part of her which had forgotten why they were all there, why she was back.
"Henry," Camilla muttered as her eyes were wide, staring at him.
"Go to him, if you'd like." Peter said.
Camilla hadn't said anything, she simply left Peter's side and went over towards Henry. He was here, like actually here; don't get her wrong she knew that he was there but still, there was a part of her which thought that she imagined all the stuff with Greg and Tamara taking him.
"Henry," Camilla spoke once she was close enough.
Camilla had noticed the small boy tense up; it was almost as if she could feel the shock which flooded him - just like it did her. He hadn't imagined that he would see her, or even hear her voice. When Peter had promised him to show him Camilla, he hadn't of thought that it would show through.
Henry had turned to face Camilla with the same expression of which she had - eyes wide, somewhat shocked. He instantly shot up and hugged her tight. She stumbled slightly before returning the hug. This was real, they were together again.
"You're here! You're actually here!" Henry almost yelled.
At the sound of his voice, some Lost Boys had almost stopped what they were doing, though they tried to shrug it off as they went back to what they were doing.
"Yes, I'm here Henry." Camilla confirmed. "I'm not going to leave okay?"
The two had sat down after they broke away from their hug. Henry was the one to ask; "Where's everyone else?"
Camilla stumbled on her words for a moment. "They're not here Henry. They're trying to find their way off of the island and help to get you - its only then that they're going to come and get you."
Henry gave her an odd look. "Wh-what do you mean?"
"They need to get a way off of the island first, they can't make a deal with Pan as they're enemies of him." Camilla explained. "They have to make sure that they have a safe way to get off this island before they come to get you."
Henry shook his head at that which made her confused. "I meant what do you mean by just me? What about you?"
Camilla had tensed for a moment. "I'm not going to leave the island, Henry. The entire point of the beans in the first place was to take everyone back to the Enchanted Forest and for me to come here."
In a way, Henry looked hurt, more hurt than what Camilla would have thought he would be. Clearly he would have understood.
"What? No. No, you have to come back to Storybrooke." Henry argued.
Camilla let out a small sigh. "Henry, listen to me, I know that I promised not to leave you, but this is my home, these boys need their mother figure here - Peter's here, I can't leave them again. I thought that you'd want me to stay here, I thought that Emma was meant to bring back all the happy endings - that this is my happy ending."
"What about me?" Henry asked, giving her a look.
Camilla didn't know what to say. What was she meant to say? She loved Henry, but this was her home. "Henry, I love you, but this is my home. Like Storybrooke is your home, your parents are trying to take you home, you're needed there while I'm needed here. Do you understand?"
Henry hadn't said anything, his eyes were big and confused. He seemed to stare at her like one watching TV, like he was analysing to notice something different.
"The curse." Henry spoke, clearly changing the subject. "It's gone. You're not dying anymore."
Camilla's lips forced themselves into a smile. "No, I'm not. Not anymore."
They had spoken for an hour or so, she couldn't keep track of the time, all she wanted to do was to make sure that he was okay. They avoided the mentioning of her staying on the island, as much as she wanted to convince him that she's better off here, she couldn't; all she wanted to do was see if he was okay. Peter had kept out of the way, giving them some time to catch up - he knew how much Henry meant to her which is why he let them speak.
Camilla had noticed how every so often Peter would stare at them. However, after Peter noticed how quiet the two had gotten, he had come over to them - Devin had come back from whatever job and had dragged Camilla away, leaving Henry and Peter alone. Despite how much she wanted to stay, she was somewhat glad that Devin did.
Since she did first mention the idea of her staying, Henry seemed to be distant in the way of which he spoke. She knew that she shouldn't have brought it up, but if she did want to stay, it would have to be Henry who she would try and convince first.
"Jay," Devin spoke, "is everything okay?"
Camilla hummed. "Yeah, just a lot on my -"
She stopped herself when she heard the sound of the pipe playing, she looked over towards Peter to see that he attempted to play it in front of Henry - who by the looks of it couldn't.
"Shit," Camilla muttered, "I thought that I wouldn't be able to hear it, yet it appears that after all these years I can."
Devin seemed to narrow his eyes slightly towards her. "We all can, but I thought that considering that you were away, that you would've found another group of people who'd love you - meaning that you wouldn't be able to hear it."
"Yeah I know," Camilla spoke, "though I guess that just shows what I feel - I guess."
There was a small silence between the two before Camilla had then grabbed hold of Devin's arms. "Come on, lets join them!"
However just as they went to join them, Camilla noticed Felix coming back into camp, shoving those in his way. Felix looked annoyed, as if there was something bugging him - which made Camilla intrigued, and wanting to know what happened. She had turned to Devin, telling him that she'll join him in a moment before joining both Peter and Felix.
"What happened?" Both Pan and Cam spoke at the same time. Though Pan spoke more before than what she did.
Felix seemed to give Camilla a side look - one of which he wasn't sure to say, though the look of which he had gotten from both of them made him speak. "Baelfire. I'm afraid he got away."
Camilla's eyes widened. Neal was alive. He was here, and she had no idea.
"Well, then why didn't you get him back?" Pan demanded.
Peter had given her a look, Camilla gathered that for whatever reason as to why he wanted Baelfire, then it was for whatever he had planned to do.
"I tried," Felix answered. "I followed his trail and found two of our sentries knocked out by a sleeping spell."
It was then that Peter and Camilla froze, they both shared a small look before looking back up to Felix. They both knew what that meant. They were silent for a moment as their thoughts had clouded their minds.
"The Dark One," Peter finally spoke.
Felix simply nodded, now knowing that it was officially true - not like he didn't trust Camilla by what she had explained, but now that he saw the sleeping spell on two of their own, he knew. Rumplestiltskin was actually on the island, which meant to make sure that Rumple didn't harm Camilla in anyway.
"So, father and son have been reunited." Peter said.
"Family reunion, yay," Camilla spoke bitterly.
"They'll be coming for the boy." Felix informed, staring at Henry before looking back to Camilla. "And for you."
"Watch them try, bitch." Camilla responded, crossing her arms.
"We should move him and you somewhere safe." Felix told.
Camilla shook her head slightly. Though there was one thing of which confused Felix - which was the entire thing of Camilla being aware of Henry, Felix supposed that Peter pointed it out to her.
"Now, now, Felix," Peter said. "Where's your sense of adventure? We can't end the party when the real fun is about to begin."
"What game? Pass the fucking human?" Camilla questioned.
Both boys stared at her in confusion before she shrugged. She forgot that they were unaware of the modern ways in the Land Without Magic.
"Well stay here, the game is about to get interesting." Peter spoke, more clearly.
Felix and Camilla nodded as the three then went their own sperate ways. Camilla had gone back up to the treehouse to grab the spare bow and quiver which lay in the corner of the room. If her father were going to come here - which was very likely - he would probably use a spell against the Lost Boys, leaving both her and Pan awake.
She ought to be prepared for whatever trick her father has up his sleeves, and if Neal was with him then she knows that it's going to be difficult.
As she walked out of the treehouse she noticed how the boys were still in their good mood while they jumped and danced around the fire. However, that all quickly changed when wind blew into the camp, causing the fire to go out and the Lost Boys to collapse.
Camilla's blood ran cold as her stomach fell. She instantly came down - well almost jumped off - they all looked as if they were dead. No, no, no, wake up, wake up, was all of which went through her head as she shook Russel - who was the first Lost Boy of which she saw.
"We have a guest!" Peter announced. It was the sound of his voice which made her look up.
Her cheeks were wet, the stress that all of her boys were dead had taken over. Wait, no they're asleep, was her second thought when she checked Russel's pulse. She let out a breath, as she then stood up, if they were all asleep then its fine - they were okay, right?
At an instant, Camilla armed her bow, ready to attack - even if it was her family.
"No doubt someone who knows how much I like guessing games," Peter continued. "Who could it be?" He walked round from where he stood. "I guess," he rose his hand as fire came crawling back filling the black abyss of night. "The Dark One."
She wanted to attack right there and then, though she went along with what Peter did - she was sure that he had planned something out already, something of which he didn't want to share with her. She was fine with whatever plan he had as long as she got to attack her father.
"Come to save Henry, have you, laddie?" Peter questioned. "I suppose you wouldn't mind me keeping Jade, after all you never really cared, did you?"
Camilla, despite wanting to comment with sarcasm, she kept her mouth shut as she tried her best to keep in the shadows away from Gold.
"The Dark One ready to sacrifice his life for his family," Peter went on. "Speaking of family," he moved his hand as a torch went alight, "you can come out now, Baelfire."
It was then that Neal moved into the camp from behind a tree with a crossbow in hand. Despite wanting to hug Neal, Camilla instantly moved towards Peter's side. She saw the flicker of disapproval from her father as she mainly held up her bow at him.
"Name's Neal now." Neal spoke. "Camilla, move away."
"No," she spoke through her teeth, "not after what you did to my boys."
A small smirk appeared on his lips at her response. "New name, but the same old tricks. It's heart-warming to see father and son working together, especially after you abandoned him, Rumple. This is a real family reunion. Though I will say, what does the daughter say? The one who you left out so much, and abused a lot?"
"Apart from wanting to put an arrow through dear old dad's head, honestly how much time do we have?" Camilla spoke, not once looking away from her father. She tried to not look at Neal.
"If you come with us, I can fix that," Gold suggested.
"Can you?" Camilla questioned. "Can you fix nineteen years' worth of pain? Can you fix the scar where my heart is from so many heart extractions because of you and your overprotectiveness of Bae? Can you fix the amount of times I've woken up afraid that you'll decide to kill me? Can you fix the way that I get triggered so easily by the sound of someone's heart being ripped out? Can you fix the thirty-eight years of being ripped from my happiness all because you wanted to find the perfect child? Can you fix anything between us? All the hate, all the times which I've planned your murder, all the times which I thought to run away, all the times which I didn't want to be here anymore because of you?"
Gold's face fell as did the tears which run down her cheeks. He hadn't realised how much he fucked her up until now, though he realised that before he never cared.
"I'm staying here, I don't care what you say or what you try to do, this is my home. You ripped me from here once before and you will not do it again," Camilla hissed, though her voice broke as she spoke.
Peter knew the way of which she felt about her father, always had, though he never knew the last little part. He didn't want to ask, or even push when they were alone, he wanted her to come to him when she was comfortable enough to.
"You done this to my boys," Camilla growled, "you put my boys in harm's way." She released the bowstring, allowing the arrow to fly towards her father, she kept grabbing an arrow and releasing it, she wanted him to know the anger of which she felt.
However, what had made her blood boil more was that none of her arrows seemed to hit - they always did. Instead they were stopped mid-air, caught with Gold's magic. He moved his hand as the arrows had fell to the ground. She let out a yell as she dropped her bow, running towards her father - and it was that given opportunity that Neal fired his crossbow at Peter, to which he caught.
Camilla had went to fight her father though suddenly felt lightheaded, like something hit her head or she inhaled the poppy dust which she remembered Mulan using on Mary Margaret, back in the Enchanted Forest.
She stumbled as she heard Peter wince slightly - which indicated that she was hit across the head, she noticed Gold's features as if he were calculating something. That was the last thing of which she saw before nothing else.
"Clever," Peter spoke through his teeth as he held onto the arrow which was still in his hand. "But we've been through this before, Baelfire. Have you remembered nothing?"
"I remember plenty." Neal told as Pan dropped the arrow. "That's why I didn't coat the tip. And that's why we got rid of the defence around you of my sister."
Peter then went to lunge forward, though instantly his body froze. Squid ink covered his hand which lead to his immobilises.
"Grab Henry." Gold spoke as he then lifted up Camilla.
Neal had jogged over towards Henry, swinging the smaller boy over his shoulder. Gold had put Camilla's arm around his neck while holding onto her waist.
Despite his anger - more so to Gold for hurting the person he cared for the most - he tried to keep talking. "Well, how about that? I'm impressed. Not with you hurting my girlfriend, though the squid ink is impressive. Though, are you sure you're really saving him, Bae? And taking her away from here is wise?"
"What could be worse than leaving him here with you?" Neal asked. "She would've wanted to come back anyway."
"Why don't you ask your father?" Peter questioned as his eyes moved towards the man who he really wanted to murder at the moment. "Sometimes the people we should fear are the ones closest to us."
Neal had then looked towards Gold. "W-what's he talking about?"
"Don't listen to him," Gold ordered.
"You mean you haven't told him?" Peter grinned, he wanted to use this to his advantage, divide father and son up and eventually get them back.
"Told me what?" Neal asked.
"Why about the Prophecy of course." Peter responded. "Though I'm surprised that he hasn't told you about that time he manipulated everyone in your old village to abuse Jade when he was gone."
"What prophecy? What does he mean? What's this about the manipulation?" Neal questioned his father - who seemed to look uncomfortable.
"The prophecy which says you've been tricked." Peter spoke, clearly. "Your father isn't here to rescue your son, he's here to murder him. And the manipulation - well, you can ask him yourself."
At that, the pair - along with Henry and Camilla - had moved away from the campsite and away from Peter. They had set up their own camp on the other side of the island, allowing them enough distance between them and the Lost Boys when they wake. Neal had laid Henry down while Gold leaned Camilla against a tree.
"What the hell was he talking about?" Neal asked once they were both free of Henry and Camilla.
"Oh, don't mind him." Gold said.
"He said you were going to murder Henry!" Neal countered. "He also mentioned that you got others to abuse Jade!"
"He plays games. Mind games. The important thing is we got the boy and we got away. We also got Camilla, who seems as if she's sided with Pan." Gold spoke.
There was a small silence, Neal had looked around, there was a part of him which knew that whenever Camilla would wake up, she'd be pissed off. He wanted to ask her about everything that happened, about what the hell happened when they were growing up. He was aware with how much she hated their father, but he never actually knew why. He wanted to ask about the scar on her chest and whether or not it was true.
Though the main question of which he wanted to ask was why she would be so willing to go over to Pans side where she's aware of what he's trying to do.
Shaking off those thoughts, Neal had slightly turned to Gold. "Where are we?"
"The other side of the island." Gold explained as Neal went over to check on his son. "We're safe here for the time being."
"Hey. Hey, Henry. It's me," Neal spoke, trying to wake his son. "Hey, it's your dad."
"No, he can't hear you," Gold said.
Neal looked up to him. "Then wake him up."
"Pulling him out of the spell could be dangerous," Gold explained. "He'll wake naturally in a few hours. He'll be fine."
"All right," Neal said as he then moved towards his sister.
Seeing his sister, the way that she was made him remember of the time she had nearly died. To see her laid against a tree, unmoving, made him wish that it hadn't gone this way - he wished that there were no trouble and that they both could go back and be siblings. He wanted to let Camilla know that she doesn't have to worry about being alone anymore, that she has him to look out for her, that she doesn't have to go through stuff on her own. All he wants is his big sister.
"You can explain to me what the hell Pan meant." Neal spoke as he then went towards Gold. "This prophecy that he meant and the manipulation, why would he say that you'd kill Henry? And why did he say that you manipulated the villagers in the old village?"
"Oh, I don't know, to create a wedge between us." Gold insisted.
"That's not a denial." Neal pointed out. "And Jay did mention about how much you hurt her."
Gold had let out a small sigh as he walked around the small camp for a moment. He was quiet, which was unusual for him - the man who always had something to say finally couldn't come up with something to argue against.
"No, this has to do with what happened when I found you. You thought I was a hallucination. You said that you had to do the right thing and save Henry! What did that really mean?" Neal continued. "Camilla has even mentioned to me how much of a shitty father you was to her, what did she mean?"
"Baelfire-"
"It's Neal!" The youngest son snapped. "Now stop dodging and tell me what's going on!"
Gold had stared at his son, somewhat heartbroken, he wanted to explain what happened with Camilla and what's going on with Henry. He feared on Neal's reaction to it all, he didn't want another child to hate him just as much as Camilla hates him.
"There was a seer," Gold began, "and she told me of a prophecy. That boy would help reunite me with you, and that boy would be my undoing."
"Henry," was all of which Neal said.
"I didn't know it was gonna be my own grandson, till I found you in New York and discovered you were his father." Gold explained as he took a few steps towards Neal.
Neal, however, seemed to have already connected the dots. "You were planning on getting rid of him, whoever he was, weren't you? To try and cheat fate? To get around the prophecy. You cold-blooded son of a bitch. You were gonna kill him."
Gold only nodded once. "Yes."
Anger flooded Neal; he was pissed off with the fact that his own father would ever consider killing Henry. Though there was still one thing of which he needed to know. "What about the manipulation? And don't try to avoid it, I want to know."
Gold stared at him, there was a part of him which didn't want to explain. He wasn't sure which was worse, getting rid of his grandson or what he had done to Camilla. "When you and her were growing up back in our village, after I got this power," he gulped, "my hatred and fear that Jade would be like your mother and leave, she reminded me so much of your mother that I projected my hate for the way that she left onto Jade. And when I got this power, I manipulated the villagers that whenever she was alone they'd abuse her, whether it was verbally or physical. Though when she was with you, they wouldn't. I manipulated the villagers to do the abuse I didn't do when I was doing my job as Dark One."
Neal tensed more so than anything. There was this part of him which wanted to fight his own father for even considering to do that - the fact that Gold actually done it pissed him off more than anything. Neal's jaw clenched slightly, if he had known this he would had wanted Jade to go just so that he knew that she was safe and away from Gold.
"Get back," Neal growled. "Stay away from them!"
Neal took a few steps back though Gold filled the space between them. "That was then. Things have changed, I want to change. I-I didn't come here to Neverland to hurt Henry or even hurt Camilla more. I came here to save him and hope that I can fix everything with her."
"After what you just told me, I'm supposed to believe you?!" Neal snapped.
"I won't lie to you, Bae." Gold spoke. "Self-preservation has been a nasty habit I've had my whole life, but I came here to break it, to do the right thing and to save your son. Even if that meant sacrificing my own life. I wanted to save your son and to see why Jade wanted to come back here."
Neal had taken a few steps back. Gold had lowered his voice to a whisper; "You have to trust me."
"How can I?" Neal questioned.
Jade and Baelfire along with the other boys who were there had continued to dance around the fire. If Jade had to be truthful, she had never felt more safer being where she was at the moment compared to being back at their village. Where she was she felt safe, as if no one were going to harm her or harass her.
However ever since Rumplestiltskin decided to show his face, Jade felt something crawl down her neck.
"You don't even recognise them, do you, Rumple?" Peter asked.
"Well, how could I when they're both wearing a mask?" Rumple shot back.
"Well, they might be wearing a mask, but that's not the reason." Peter spoke as he followed Rumple while he walked round the boys who danced.
Peter then pointed towards where Jade and Baelfire were. "Look at them," across the fire, both siblings were side-by-side, they both wore a mask as they went round the fire. Rumple could then notice the bounce of Jade's hair. "Playing with people their age - or well around their age - out in the world. They're happy Rumple. That's why you don't recognise them."
Rumplestiltskin had then stopped Baelfire in his tracks which - consequently - made Jade stop in her tracks as well. "Bae, Jay." Rumple had took off Bae's mask though Jade kept hers on. "Baelfire, are you all right?" He shot his daughter a look.
"I'm fine - we both are," Baelfire answered as he shared a look with is sister. "Why are you here?"
"I know you think I don't care about you, son, but I do. And I'm here to prove it." Rumplestiltskin explained.
Jade wasn't paying that much attention as to what her father was saying, her eyes were mainly focused on the boy behind her father. He was cute, to say the least, though there was something about him which drew Jade to him.
"How?" She heard Baelfire ask.
"Go ahead, Rumple." Peter spoke.
There was a small shiver which ran down Jade's spine at the sound of his voice, though she couldn't explain it. He looked around the same age she did, maybe older by a year or two.
What had brought her out of her thoughts was the feeling of a pair of arms being wrapped around her. "Father!"
"What are you doing?" Baelfire asked. The pair of them were now stood where Rumple previously was.
"Protecting you." Rumpelstiltskin responded. He then gave Jade the look of which she remembered. The look which read that she was responsible for this.
It was then that smoke covered them all, taking them back home. However, as they went they could hear Peters voice yell; "You're gonna regret not taking my deal, Rumple!"
Around them the inside of their home appeared. Both Jade and Bae were annoyed that their father would even think about doing this to them. Yet, if there was one thing of which Jade knew it was the fact that their father was a dick.
"Don't touch me! Get away!" Baelfire snapped as he moved away from his father's touch.
"It's alright now, Bae." Rumple spoke, going closer to his son. "You're safe."
"Safe?" Baelfire questioned. "I was never in danger. The piper was my - our - friend!"
"He may have wanted you to think that." Rumplestiltskin countered. "But you have to believe me. He would've hurt you. Both of you."
Jade looked at him full of hate. There was no way that the piper would have harmed them.
Baelfire was the one who spoke. "Why? Who is he?" Rumple walked away, to which Bae followed. "Another person that you abused with your power?"
"His name is Peter Pan." Rumplestiltskin told.
"He's cute." Jade admitted. Her father looked at her with such a disgusted look - if he could, he would have slapped her for even thinking that.
"I've known him since I was a boy." Rumplestiltskin informed, not once did the look vanish from his face. "Growing up, he was the only one who would speak to me."
"You knew people?" Jade questioned. "Shocking."
Rumple ignored the comment as Baelfire asked; "So you're saying he's immortal, too."
"Is there any way I could be immortal?" Jade thought out loud.
"He wasn't always." Rumplestiltskin responded, though only to Baelfire's question. "He went to a place called Neverland. He betrayed me, Bae. He can't be trusted."
"I like him better now," Jade smirked slightly.
"What happened?" Baelfire asked.
"All that matters is that he fooled me for a long time before I'd finally see his true nature," Rumple explained, "and it is darker and more repulsive than you should ever be exposed to!"
Baelfire had gone over to Jade, putting his head against her shoulder. "He can't be any worse than you."
"I had to protect you, Bae. I didn't have a choice." Rumplestiltskin tried to argue.
Jade's eyes darkened. "You did, stop lying!"
"We know that you did have a choice!" Baelfire snapped. Both Bae and Jay had stared at their father. "We know about the deal Pan offered you."
Jade took over, "he said all you had to do was ask us if we wanted to come home."
Rumplestiltskin had looked between both Jade and Baelfire. "He told you?"
"He said that I'd know if you really trusted me - trusted us - if you really cared." Baelfire said.
"Oh, Bae, please." Rumple pleaded.
"You didn't need to. I would've chosen to come home." Baelfire spoke. "I would've chosen you!"
"And I would have chosen anywhere where Bae was," Jade added as she crossed her arms.
"If only you asked us both." Baelfire stated. "Maybe we could've found a way to be a family again. Without the abuse."
Baelfire had backed up as if he were headed to go.
"We can be, we'll find a way," Rumplestiltskin spoke as Baelfire headed towards the door. "Bae."
Anger was all that both Baelfire and Jade could feel as the pair of them walked out of the house. They had walked side-by-side, not saying anything. There was nothing to say, they both felt the exact same thing so there was no need to speak about it.
Camilla's head pounded, if she had to be honest it felt as if she had woken up with a bad hang-over. It hurt to open her eyes as it felt as if everything around her was too bright, so she kept her eyes closed. She knew that she wasn't with Peter back at that camp, she had a feeling that when she was knocked out that both Neal and her father had taken her along with Henry.
She instantly knew that no matter what Pan would be pissed off for taking her away from him again. Mistakenly, Camilla had let out a small groan which lead to her hearing the sound of footsteps coming towards her. Under her eyelids she could see a shadow outline, though she couldn't tell if it was Gold or Neal.
"Hey," Neal. It was Neal. "Jay, are you okay?"
"No," Camilla responded, "it's bright as hell and I feel hung-over. You're not doing that to me again. And I thought that I said that I didn't want to go and yet here I am."
There was a small silence. "I'm sorry. I didn't want to leave you."
"And I didn't want to be forced to leave Pan again, yet we don't always get what we want, now do we?" Camilla shot back.
There was another silence, though this time she could tell that there was going to be nothing else said. There seemed to be silence all around them was nothing but silence, there was the occasional burst of flames which indicated that there was more being added to the fire.
"Tell me what I have to do to gain your trust, and I will." Gold spoke after a few moments of silence.
"Shutting up will be nice." Camilla stated despite that she knew that he wasn't talking to her - when did he ever?
"Give me the Dark One dagger," Neal answered. Camilla perked up at that, she wouldn't mind having her hands on the dagger just so that she could stab him. "I know you. I know you wouldn't come all the way to Neverland without it. It's the only thing that can control you. It's the only thing that can stop you. You wouldn't take any chances with it."
"I don't have it," Gold spoke. If Camilla could, then she would have given him a look.
"Why you lying?" Neal questioned.
"I'm not lying to you, Bae," Gold said in response. "I hid it so Pan couldn't get it, so he couldn't stop me."
"So un-hide it!" Neal snapped.
"My shadow hid it." Gold countered. Camilla snorted.
Neal laughed as Cam snorted. "Your shadow. Man, you got an answer for everything, don't you?"
"I'm telling you the truth, I swear." Gold tried to argue.
"You know, maybe you did hide it. Maybe you do want to do the right thing, but that's today. What about tomorrow?" Neal questioned.
"I've changed," Gold spoke.
"Have you?"
"Yes."
"The prophecy still stands. You save him, he's still your undoing." Neal said. "And you can't erase trauma."
"I'm still willing to die for him," Gold argued. "And I know that I cannot erase trauma, but I can make up for it.
"What happens if we get back, and you're reunited with Belle, and you realise that the only thing standing between you and your happy ending is my son?" Neal asked. "And suddenly, 'undoing' doesn't sound so great."
"You're my happy ending," Gold spoke. "This is because it's my redemption. I can be strong, son, if you have faith in me."
There was a silence, Camilla didn't say anything, she knew that she was unimportant to Gold. As much as she wished that he noticed that she tried, she knew that he wouldn't.
"Thanks for leaving me out, means a lot." Camilla muttered mainly to herself.
It was then that she heard Neal say, "You know, when I was living here and sleeping in a cave, I used to dream of you coming to rescue me."
There was a part of Camilla which broke at the confession, she was aware of the amount of times which he asked about leaving to which she always responded with the fact that Pan hasn't allowed him to leave, that no matter how much she tried to talk to Pan he wouldn't change his mind.
Neal continued. "But then I'd wake up and remember how you left me behind. It was Jade who would always comfort me about the way you left me - us - behind. You left your own son behind for the power of that dagger while you abused Jay with it. How can I think that things would ever be any different?"
Camilla suddenly heard the sound of a whoosh, as if magic had been enacted. Then she heard Gold say, "Neal. What are you doing?"
Neal had then swung Henry over his shoulder and helped Camilla to her feet. "I'm gonna find Emma and the others and get the hell off this island. Then I'm gonna get my family back home."
Neal - helping Camilla walk - had strolled towards the jungle, leaving Gold frozen in Squid Ink.
"You can't go into the jungle alone. Without my power to protect you, Pan will capture you both and take Camilla back." Gold called out.
"I'm sorry. I got no choice. We're safer without you." Neal argued. "And this is where Camilla wants to be. Good-bye papa." It was then that they went into the jungle, leaving Gold behind.
Not long after they left, Camilla had told him that she was okay to walk by herself. She could open her eyes without the pain of light hurting her eyes. She told him that she'll lead just so that he can keep an eye on her to make sure that she doesn't run. He'd only responded with the fact that he trusted her more than their father.
Camilla - with Neal behind her and Henry on his shoulder- had turned a corner which seemed to have led to another campsite. They stopped for a brief moment before officially walking in, Neal had laid Henry down in the middle of the camp, by where the fire pit was. Camilla had sat down which ended with her laying on her back looking up at the sky.
Neal had gone over to the firepit and placed his hands above it. "Emma."
What had made her jump - and Neal - was the sound of Peter. "You were so close to finding her. You disappoint me."
"Ah, used to being a disappointment, if you ask me." Camilla spoke as the Lost Boys came into the camp.
Some pointed a crossbow at Neal while others carried spikes. Camilla sat up, "Don't hurt him, please."
"I thought I taught you better. Never break in somewhere unless you know the way out." Peter continued.
"I'll remember that for next time." Neal told.
"Well, there isn't going to be a next time," Peter informed. "But don't blame yourself. Your father could have protected you out here, sure." Felix had picked Henry up as Devin helped Camilla to her feet. "But then who would've protected Henry from him? Talk about a rock and a hard place."
Neal had then took a few steps forward, closing the gap between him and Peter. "I will get my son and sister back, no matter what it takes."
"I thought you said that this is where I belong?" Camilla questioned.
Peter somewhat tilted his head. "You're not getting it. That's not the problem. You got them. I got them back. It's the game. No, my boy, the real problem for you is that there is no escaping Neverland. No one gets off this island without my permission."
"I've done it before," Neal said. "So has your girlfriend."
"Did you?" Peter asked. There was a part of Camilla which smirked. "Look where you are now. It's like you never left."
"You saying you let me go?" Neal asked.
"I'm saying everyone's where I want them." Pan told.
It was then that Henry started to wake up, he let out a small groan. There was a part of Camilla which wanted to see if he was okay, though with Devin at her side, she didn't want to break away.
"Something to chew on." Peter stated. His voice then grew louder. "You know where, take him."
It was then that two Lost Boys had grabbed Neal's arms and started to drag him away. Felix - with Henry slung over his shoulders - and Devin, with Camilla using him, they started to head back to where their camp was.
"No! Henry!" Neal struggled.
"Oh, don't worry. It won't be for very long." Peter told Neal.
"I'm alive!" Neal yelled as he continued getting dragged away.
"Just until I reset the board," Peter spoke. "See, the game is about to change."
"Don't give up hope, Henry! I will come for you!" Neal called out. "I promise."
With that, they headed back to their camp. Peter had told Devin that it was okay to let Camilla go. He could see that she didn't need the help. Though both still kept an eye just to make sure.
Half an hour had passed, and they were all back in camp, Camilla was sat next to Felix as the fire burned brightly in front of them. Peter was kneeled down beside Henry as the eleven-year-old then woke up.
"What happened?" Henry asked as soon as he was sat up.
"Oh, you fell asleep." Peter responded with a lie.
Felix had nudged Camilla from watching Henry and Peter talk. Camilla's attention had turned to her friend.
"There's nothing to worry about, Jay," Felix spoke. "Though Pan is worried about you."
Camilla tilted her head. "And why's that?"
"Your father being here," Felix answered, calmly. "He's worried that you'll kill him when he wants to be the one to do it himself for what he did to you."
"I don't care who kills Rumplestiltskin, as long as he's dead, then its fine." Camilla told with a small smirk.
"I'd like to play a song," Peter's voice called out, "a song to honour our guest of honour, Henry."
It was then that Peter placed the pipe to his lips as a simple melody played. However, what was different was the fact that Henry started to dance around along with some of the Lost Boys.
"You can hear the music now, can't you, Henry?" Peter questioned the small boy.
"Yeah," Henry spoke.
"Can you still hear it?" Felix suddenly asked.
A small smile formed on her lips. "Of course."
"After all this time?" Felix seemed to give her a small look.
"Yes," Camilla nodded, "always."
It was then that Felix, Peter, and Camilla watched Henry as he danced around with the Lost Boys. This is where she belongs, where everyone belongs if they feel unloved enough by their own family, after all this was one big family and Camilla was glad to be a part of it. She was glad to be a part of a somewhat caring environment, it was definitely where she belongs the most, despite what anyone else would say to her.
↬↬↬
I am aware that when both Peter and Jade met for the first time in Neverland, Jade didn't recognise Peter, and the reasoning behind it is the fact that I completely forgot what the hell happened in season 3a - apart from a few things - and I am in the process of editing this book along with writing it, because I realised that (considering that what's being published is first draft) most of the first chunk of this book is poorly written.
So, yeah, that's the reason. Plus for some reason when I've rewatched OUAT I avoided watching the first three seasons cause I'm a dumbass, who thought that it would be better to watch those episodes while I wrote. Therefore, when I do edit this book, I'll be mentioning this meeting in some way (if I remember to lmao.)
Anyway I hope that you liked this chapter. Please vote, comment, and give feedback!
Happy reading!
