Chapter 2

Normal POV

Another boring and useless day of learning for Craig Tucker. Everyday is the same, beginning with the morning. Nightmares and sometimes night terrors, to which nobody calms him down. Stays awake until the sun rises, friends that only say his name or 'hey' then don't interact with him the rest of the day. Goes home to get more bullshit from his dad about why he can't be like Randy Marsh's son. At night, instead of sleeping he would occasionally take a walk around the cold town. Admiring all the Christmas lights that hang over houses.

The moon giving the snow a sparkling feature. The cold has always comforted Craig in this time of year, where families gather together to open presents, or feast on food, and to be loved. But the twenty fifth of December was just another day to Craig. He doesn't get much affection as much as his little sister does, which confuses him.

He was the one that witness the crime scene, long before ruby was even born. Shouldn't he be the one to be praised after all that happened. Maybe he picked this trail. To sit in grief alone, regretting the night he couldn't save his own mother. Every nightmare is like a movie repeating that night with every little detail. The pain he can feel on his head when that solid bar connected to his head.

The small whimpers that gave his hiding place up. The Peter Pan doll that sits in the corner of the closet. Why has he denied to seek help? Perhaps he thinks he can get through this alone? Or maybe his parents don't  care or pay attention to even notice how bad his conditions have gotten.

The loud bell rang through the school. The cue for the students to get home. Everyone in the class room packs up their stuff and rushes out the door. Craig waits till everyone has gone out the classroom then he walks out. As the detached boy walks through the corridor small giggles come from the girls, jocks mocking him, spitballs being shot at him, and he walks through this like its normal.

Craig walks back to the street where he grew up on, but he stops. Seeing two cars in the drive way, indicating that family members are at his house. He turns on his heels and starts walking faster. Fearing that his mom will demand him back inside to talk to them and act like he's okay.

Although he mainly walks around during night when nobody is around he has no idea where he should go. Then he gets an idea. Up to climb the large hill which ends in a cliff. It only takes about one hour to get up the steep hill, and because of Craig's long legs it only took thirty minutes. This hill is called Point view lane which is where old school couples would go and stargaze, but now and days couples mostly go see a movie and stuff like that.

The emotionless boy sits on the hood of an beat down pickup truck. Craig lays back on the surprisingly stable windshield. Looking up at the sky and watching every small cloud that flouted by.

Four hours had passed and the sun was setting. Being tired as he is Craig didn't stop himself from shutting his eyes and letting sleep take over his body.

I step into a gloomy house. Did I die? Maybe that's a good thingThen I realize how familiar this house really is. Steps that slightly curve to the top. I hesitate to walk up them, then I start stepping up every one, knowing I'll regret going up these stairs soon but I can't stop myself from walking.

There's a room at the end of the hallway. I move closer but ever so slowly to the room. I clench onto the handle and twist it. But what I saw was nothing compared to what I though it was going to be.

Its warm and sunny. This place that I have never been before feels like home. The place where I thought only existed in fairy tales is  where I'm standing. For the first time since I was a kid, I smile. I can feel the color in my eyes fill with brightness. My heart reshape. It's beautiful here. Like it's heaven. I want to stay. Forever.

Then I wake.

Craig's eye leash open reveling the drained color eyes. The moon still bright as it was last night. Clouds somewhat block the moon but its still visible and snowflakes start to fall from the clouds. Craig rubbed his eyes which?e sitting up. He sits there, looking at the dim clouds. By the time he got back on his feet, a shadow came across the snow.

Craig shook his head, not believing what he saw. He stood there waiting for it to pass by. After two minutes the shadow didn't appear. Probably just a crow or something. Craig thought. He started his journey down the hill, but then he stopped when he heard a small snap in the back of him, like someone just stepped on a twig.

He pulled his blue chullo hat down by his eyebrows. Craig turned his head from corner of the hill. After being convinced that it might just be a bird he turned, but only to be greeted by a boy.

"Ahh! What the...?!" Craig fell on his back. The boy held his stomach while laughing. Craig stayed silent looking at the boy, wondering if this is real or his just seeing things. The blonde boy pretended to wipe a single tear from his eye. Still Craig is speechless, questioning if this is real or he's hallucinating.

"Who are you?" Craig finally spoke to him. The blonde boy put his hands on his hips and looked Craig straight in the eye.

"That's a good question. Who am I?" The kid looked at his nails smirking at Craig who was still in the snow. Craig flinched as the boy put out his hand. The stoic boy hesitated to take his hand.

"Well are gonna shake my hand or not?" "You didn't even tell me your name!" "Oh right"

Craig pulled himself off the ground. The stranger looked up at Craig's unbelievably height. Craig caught him staring and he scratched the back of his head. "My name's Kenneth, but Kenny is what they call me"

Kenny. Craig felt like he knew that name once before. "I had a friend named  Kenny but I think he moved away" Craig explained. "So are you going to tell me your name?" Kenny moved to his face a little closer to Craig's, making him blush.

"Uhh C-Craig Tucker" Kenny smiled up at him. Then Craig remembered. "What's your last name?" Kenny's smile faded and he walked around Craig's lanky tall body to sit on the cold hood of the car. Craig followed his steps and soon sat by him.

"Well?" Craig asked while he put his hands in his sweaters pockets. Kenny shrugged his shoulders. "What do you mean you don't know" Craig asked confused at his answer. "I don't know my last name because I never knew my parents" Craig's face softened. "I was always on my own but that was until I made friends in a another place"

"So you never went to school?" Kenny shook his head. "I already know everything I need to know" Kenny looked up st the clouds, letting the small snowflakes touch his face. Craig secretly looked at the boy by the corner of his eye. He quickly moved his eye away once Kenny put his head down and twiddled his thumbs. Craig looked to the snow. Admiring the white sparkling chipped ice.

"Why don't you smile?" The blonde asked. Craig scoffed and put on a fake smile. Kenny laughed at his "smile" grinning while he laughed, showing his white teeth. Craig slightly smiled at Kenny's grin. For a boy with no parents he knows how to keep his teeth white.

"You're funny Craig" Kenny commented. "You made yourself laugh" Craig shook his head. "Because of your smile" Kenny grinned. Craig noticed the snow stopped then realized how late it might be. The cops might be lurking for kids who aren't inside.

"Well Kenneth I have to get home" craig jumped off the hood of the car, leaving kenny to fend for himself. "Well okay I'll see you again" Craig nodded and started to walk off before he waved goodbye at his new friend.

In his sleep Craig didn't have a nightmare but dreamed of Kenny. He was being someone who Craig thought he would never get. A friend.
