Sliding under the towering beasts, jumping over the tiniest of creatures, me and Calcifer ran for freedom. His hand in mine, for the first time in a long time, I felt happy. But.... Honestly, he had no idea where he was going. And it showed. We hit so many dead ends....dead end after dead end after dead end...

"Um... Calcifer?" I asked as we ran even further "where are we going?" I looked around. There's no end to these halls, where could we possibly end up? I thought.

"Where?......" He said "outside! Freedom! The right to choose our own paths in life!"

"So you don't know?" I said.

"No, I don't, alright? Come on..... Let me be cool for a little bit." He said "jeez! Dose this freaking building go on forever?"

"Why don't you open a door?" I said. I stopped, and grabbed the handle of the nearest door.

"NO, don't!!" Calcifer yelled, trying to stop me, but failing. He wasn't solid anymore.

I opened the door but was not prepared for what was behind it. As I looked inside I froze. I slowly slumped to the floor, staring at what lay before me. Inside there was a long roundish table. At the two ends, sat mans that looked like they would kill me without a second thought.

They were all shouting "we haven't had a break like this since 1863!"   "Is this because 00962 got loose?"  "Why did this happen when we finally got one of the winged creatures in custody!"

One of the mans at the end of the tables held up his hand, and all the others fell silent. He pressed a but on in front of him, and I was pushed into the room by something. The door immediately shut behind me. I made a small squeak as I landed. All the mans turned their gaze towards me. I started to panic. I pushed myself away from the table and back against the wall furthest from them. It wasn't a big room though.

"What should we do, sir?" One man asked the man at the other end of the table. He looked at me coldly. I had never been so afraid in my entire life. My vision started to blur. "Suddenly the man who had yelled loudest before, stood up and walked towards me. He looked mad. He came up to me and grabbed me by the hair, pulling me towards the table. I yanked my hair out of his hand, and wobbly as my legs were, I tried to run. I tripped instantly. He came at me again.

"No....." I said with tears in my eyes looking up at him "please, please go away.... Don't hurt me..... I don't want to get a shot..... I don't want to go to the arena...." I was sobbing now. "Calcifer.... help....." I curled up into a ball and waited for him to hit or kick me.

Whispers and murmurs went through out the table. "That's the winged girl?"   "Its so feeble and week... Disgusting......"    "Why do we even keep it? It would be better to just kill it and not have to deal with it."

Kill it? I thought. They're going to kill me.... They really are, aren't they? My vision blurred one last time, and I saw no more.

Calcifer POV.

I phased through the wall. I saw angel, she was curled up in a ball on the floor sobbing. Then she stopped. She stood up and kicked the man in front of her on the shins. Ooowww..... That must hurt. I thought. I went up to angel and said "hey, your up! Let's go wile we can!"

But she wouldn't move. She stayed motionless. But if any one of the men approached her, she kicked, bit, scratched, and punched him until he was unconscious. She looked up. Her eyes were glowing green. Green and vacant, as if she were in a trance. She calmly walked out of the room, much to the annoyance of the men who weren't unconscious yet. She walked a for quite a while, beating up anything that tried to touch her. When she finally stopped I could see sunlight. Sunlight from an open door, leading out side. If she turned the corner she would see it to. She opened her eyes, and they were blue again.

She looked around confused "what.... What happened?" She asked me.

I smiled "look angel, this is the sun." I covered her eyes, and led her to the door. I pushed her out side. She was so amazed at everything. And to make it even better, she had the biggest smile possible on her face.

Angels POV

oh my..... Oh my!! There are so many colors!! This is what Kevin had meant by color! There was soooo much everywhere! I spread my wings and unconsciously began to flap them. I flew. Barely a few feet off the ground, but I flew.

"Let's go angel! We'll fly to our happiness!!" Calcifer said grinning.

When we were high above the facility I looked down. It wasn't that big.

"Its under ground" Calcifer said.

I saw all of the creatures going to freedom, happily. No..... Wait.... They were going back! Why?! Then I saw. It was corner man, the hypnosis man. He was drawing them all back. Then I saw one creature resisting him. It was that loud creature, that I saw once before. Her foot was caught in a bush. Bush? How did I know that word?

She was screaming "No!! No!! I got this far, I'm not going back!!"

"Angel....." Calcifer said worried. "Angel, no!" He yelled as I swooped down.

I grabbed the girls arm and pulled her out of the bush. I heard a loud noise, and felt a sharp pain in my wing. I screamed. I couldn't fly anymore, it hurt to much. Me and the girl tumbled through a bunch of trees, and off the edge of a cliff.

I couldn't see Calcifer anymore.... I new the ground was coming fast and I was going to die. Die..... I closed my eyes for what might have been the last time. Blue. That was the color of the sky. Infinite blue.... Blue was my favorite color now, not red. I closed my eyes, sad to see the infinite blue disappear so quickly.....
