A Silent Connection
"Brake...?" Natsu repeated this word, suddenly he understood.
His head snapped towards Lucy, however he she was too far away to make out any distinctions. Natsu took one step in her direction and tumbled to the ground, all if his strength had fled.
Loki knelt down and helped his friend stand back up, however Natsu had little to no stamina. Barely able to lift his head, as he was pulled to his feet.
Finally set free from their prison, thousands of evil souls, starved of energy started to feed. Soaring to the clouds, they sucked the life out of everything in sight.
At this moment, Natsu felt intense embarrassment and shame. Yet, for Lucy's sake he swallowed his pride and asked for help. "Take me to her."
Loki understood the severity of the situation and sorrowfully obeyed. Cancer and Loki each hooked Natsu's arms around their shoulders and dragged him across the field. A line of red trailed behind them as the grass was stained by Natsu's blood.
Hungry Spirits feasted upon the surrounding animals and plants. As the greedy ghosts absorbed the greenery, it immediately withered, shriveling into black particles. The color being erased from the world.
As they drew closer, Natsu saw her. She was drooped, hanging by her chains. Skin covered in black vines, no longer pulsating. A large open wound in her stomach, red liquid still dripping down her front. Panting heavily, her eyes half open. Yet they darted around him, scanning Natsu's condition. Mostly likely more worried about him than herself. Silly Lucy.
Trees started to fall, birds flew to evade the hungry apparitions. Yet, none were fast enough to flee their fate. The scene was crumbling down, flaking to dust. Turning the world to ashes.
Lucy watched impatiently as Natsu trudged towards her. She yearned for him, to make sure he was alright! Having witnessed all the horrible beatings he'd endured.
Yet, somehow she was scared. Terrified to face him, knowing he had seen her Looking Glass. What would Natsu think of her now that he had seen her corruption? He would no longer want her, because she was dirty. A disgusting harlot that someone else already touched. Lucy was Cloven's garbage, thrown out after one use. No one would want a strangers trash, Natsu didn't deserve junk.
The winds started to pick up residue from the tattered forest. Dark flakes danced in the sky, as evil phantoms laughed at their handy work. Spreading out towards villages, where more feasting would take place.
All nine of Lucy's spirits had gathered in front of her. Having dragged Natsu with them, they stopped a few feet from her. She was now face to face with the man she loved, but wanted nothing more than to hide from him. Neither party spoke, an expression of understanding met a look of distressed concern; but mostly...shame. Then, he smiled. A small, painful grin that lifted her spirits.
Lucy eased into Natsu's countenance, tears of acceptance formed in her eyes as her head dropped. Attempting to hide her odd expression of relief. Natsu still loved her, despite learning her disgraceful past.
The landscape had completely capsized, nothing looked the same. Green grass had burned, trees shriveled and broken down, sky's clouded with ash. Tarish ghouls darted in every direction, killing all in its path. Soon all of Earthland would share this dark fate.
Natsu knew Lucy was crying, but she was not sad. With a simple gaze, they shared more than a hundred words. Stepping out of Loki and Cancer's support he reached forward and took hold of the crystal imbedded in Lucy's chest. The stone had lost its power, a once vibrant red; now faded to grey.
"This is going to hurt." Natsu warned.
Lucy kept her head down and nodded, preparing for pain.
Taking a deep breath, he yanked the crystal out of her collar bone. As the stone dislodged, its obsidian webs retracted with it. Lucy screamed, the sudden motion leaving her breathing heavily. Gently placing a kiss on her head, Natsu spread his arms to take hold of the chains restricting Lucy. His arm-span being much wider than hers he grasped both with ease. Warming his hands slightly, the metal snapped and her arms dropped. Since the force keeping her upright onto the rock had been removed, Lucy's body fell forward into Natsu. Her head connected lightly onto his chest as they both sunk to the dirt.
Natsu collapsed on his back, with Lucy splayed across his heart. He took in her fragrance, savoring every second. Not wanting to be taken away from her again.
The scenery was being eaten away, rapidly crumbling to dust. The grand forest had been reduced to an ashen plain. Desolation and despair in every direction. The world had turned unto a war zone.
Lucy rested her head atop Natsu's chest and wrapped her trembling fingers around his. He felt colder than normal.
As the realm continued to crumble around them, Aries placed a gentle hand on Lucy's shoulder. "Princess, we have an idea."
Lucy hadn't the energy to respond, listened to her friend.
"Both you and Prince Natsu are unable to fight, and our time here is running thin. However, before we are s-scattered, t-t-there is...one thing we c-can do." Aries voice shook.
Both mages turned their eyes to the nervous Spirit.
Capricorn placed a large hand on Aries head, calming her. "What she means is; even though you two are out of magic, we are not. Please Miss Lucy. Use us as batteries and cast Murni."
Lucy shook her head aggressively. She would not use her friends like that! Her Spirits were her family, she promised never to take advantage of them in that way.
"Please Princess, we can not let Savina and her demons punish all of Earthland!" Virgo begged.
"You are not exploiting us." "We are asking you to do this." Gemini chanted lightly.
Natsu's grip around her hand tighten slightly. They were correct, Savina needed to be stopped and this was their only option.
"Alright." Reluctantly, Lucy agreed.
Swiftly, each Celestial Spirit placed a warm hand on her back, supporting her entirely. She could feel their energy rush into her, the life of her friends and family. Lucy could identify each one and sensed the tense emotions from them all. It was warm, a comforting sensation bloomed inside her. It gave her power physically, but more importantly; it gave her the mental strength to fight.
Lucy started to chant the sacred words, mumbling clearly each syllable. She would not fail! No...they would not fail! Because she was not alone.
"You wicked girl!" Savina noticed the odd light emitting from the contrastingly shadowed field. The witch pointed a boney finger towards them, immediately hundreds of demons plunged towards them.
Natsu tightened his grip on the girl above him, covering her head with his arms. Attempting to shield her as best he could from his position. However, no attack came.
Opening his squinted eyes he saw a golden barrier had bubbled around them. Keeping any unwanted visitors out and allowing Lucy to completely focus on the spell. No matter how aggressive the ghosts were, they could not break through. Using teeth, claws, fists and all other extremities to fight the glowing sphere, it did not even crack.
Natsu felt the last of his magic gently transfer to Lucy, suddenly he felt even more exhausted than before. All of the Celestial Spirits must have shared the same feeling and returned to their realm with respectful bows.
As she collected more energy, she could feel it start to bubble inside her. So much she could explode, this quantity was not healthy, especially when she started at zero. The disparity too great for such a short time period, therefore Lucy could feel her body breaking down. She just needed a little more, then she could cast the spell. Agonizing seconds later she was ready. Finally prepared to unleash it all upon Savina and her dreaded Phantoms!
"MINRI CAHYA!!!" Lucy shouted into the air, releasing all the compressed magic. A wave of sparkling light exploded outwards, pushing back all the darkness. Purifying everything in a perfect 100 foot radius. The ashen landscape revived as color returned, skies clearing to see the dimming moon.
High pitched shrills echoed through the skies as every single Demon vaporized, as if washed by a golden tide. No more would they wreak havoc on the innocent field.
Savina screamed in horror, terrified of the oncoming blow. As the light hit her, she slumped into a crouched ball. Pulling at the sides of her overcoat to cover her altered appearance.
"No no no no no no no no. No! NO!" She yelled, turning her hands over to examine them. It seemed her cheeks had filled out, hands not so skeletal. Savina's skin tone had warmed and scars disappeared. She had turned back to a mortal human. The red gem from her clavicle forced itself out and was purified. Its evil atmosphere had vanished, leaving an ordinary crystal behind.
Fearing for her lack of immortality, Savina fled into the remaining forest. Leaving both Natsu and Lucy alone.
