Chapter 45: Announcing The Roles

Author's Notes:

Oh shit, cue the awkwardness. -.-

I'm so bored, someone entertain me XD

My brain is dead, I KNOW WHAT I WANNA WRITE BUT THE DAMN WORDS WON'T MAGICALLY ARRANGE THEMSELVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay that's enough ranting, I needa stop bitching about stuff XD

Danny's mouth snapped shut and he resisted the urge to sigh in relief.

'It's probably better not to ask, I should know better than to get my hopes up. By now I should know better than to jump to stupid conclusions. Spending time with anyone would be better than spending time alone, that's all he meant by that. Yeah, now believe that.' He thought.

The teen shook his head as if that could remove the thought from his head and gave the Box Ghost a smile. "Hi Box Ghost, here to pick up Lunchie?"

"Hey Danny, yep we are. Sorry for getting here so late, time got away from us." The Box Ghost apologized.

The Lunch Lady phased in next to him. "She behaved right?" she asked.

"Perfectly, no problems at all." The younger halfa replied

'Well besides assaulting Valerie with a juice box and flying off of the swing set.' He added silently.

"Well I see you had some help." The Lunch Lady said.

"Oh right, yeah I did." The teen said looking over at the other halfa who gave a short wave which was all he could manage while holding Box Lunch.

"Vladmier Masters, nice to meet you." The man greeted.

There were a few moments of awkward silence as that information was processed.

"Uh wait is this the Vlad that Johnny-" the Box Ghost started before being cut off by Danny.

"Yes, yeah it's the same Vlad, and I kinda don't want to hear what rumors Johnny has been spreading okay?" he said with a sigh

Sure he had expected Johnny to be angry with him but he never thought that the motorcyclist would go talking about it in the ghost zone. And if the ghost was spreading around the same words that he had told him that day than yeah, Danny was screwed. Mega, royally, fucked over.

"You do know that everything he said wasn't necessarily the truth right?" he added.

"Well you don't know what he's been saying so-" The Box Ghost said before once again being cut off.

"I have a pretty good idea. So did you guys have fun on your date?" the teen asked, desperately wanting to change the subject.

"Yes we did, thanks again for agreeing to watch her at the last second like that." The Lunch Lady said, following Danny's lead and steering away from the topic.

"No problem, you know how much I love babysitting her." He replied happily.

The Box Ghost went over to Vlad (eyeing him a bit suspiciously) and collected a sleeping Box Lunch; she had dozed off while the man had been holding her. The older halfa pretended not to notice the ghost's skepticism and remained as calm as a sea made of glass.

"I wish we could talk more but we gotta get her home, bye you two." The Lunch Lady said.

"It's fine, bye." Danny said.

"Another time perhaps." Vlad replied.

The three ghosts phased through the floor, but not before the box Ghost gave a final 'beware.'

The teen sighed and buried his face in his pillow, glad that the ordeal was over with.

"What were you going to ask before they appeared?" the other inquired, still sitting in the same place.

"Nothing, it's not important." Was the younger's muffled response.

"What rumors do you think that Johnny is spreading?" he asked, though he was pretty sure that he already knew the answer.

"Nothing much, probably that I'm hiding a 'fugitive' and stuff like that." He replied, leaving out the whole ghost mate thing.

"Hm... you should probably get some sleep; you have school in the morning."

"Yeah, you're right. As usual." The younger halfa got up, plugged in the nightlight and turned off the light before practically throwing himself onto the bed.

The other lied down as well. "Goodnight badger."

"Night fruitloop. Today was fun." He replied, biting back a yawn as he felt sleep quickly catching up to him.

"Yes, it was." He agreed smiling before falling asleep along with the other.

-Drama Class-

"- Julia you get the role of the witch; Mark you play the part of the father; Dash will play Hansel and Danny will play Gretel. That concludes the assigning of roles." Mr. Macrone announced.

The students exploded into a murmuring mess of whispers but Danny was oblivious to it all; he was busy smiling like an idiot.

'I got the part, I got the part! Not the part I was expecting but still!' he mentally squealed.

"Now now, settle down. Here's how rehearsals will go: Monday through Thursday we will be having normal classes and on Fridays we will be rehearsing lines, making backgrounds, organizing costumes, etc. The play will be performed the day before Christmas break starts ad it will be the only performance we will give. So do try not to mess up." The teacher said

"Hey no pressure." The halfa mumbled, though he was grinning.

The bell rang, signaling the change in classes. He went to collect his backpack when he felt a tap on his shoulder and turned around.

"If you could stay behind for a few minutes, I need to speak with you." The teacher asked.

"Sure?" he replied, a bit confused.

"Bye Fentina." Dash called back to him as the jock left the auditorium.

"Bye bye!" The halfa yelled back, voice dripping with false sweetness. "What did you need to talk to me about?" he asked, turning his attention back to the teacher.

"Well one thing would be your role in the play."

"What about it?"

"Are you sure that you want to do that part? I could give you a different one if you want." Mr. Macrone said.

"Of course I'm sure. Why wouldn't I be?"

"I know that Mr. Baxter already gives you a hard enough time as it is, and while I think that you would make a fantastic Gretel, I don't want Dash to bother you because of it."

"If I stopped doing everything that Dash bothers me about then I wouldn't be able to do anything," Danny said matter of factly. "Why did you choose me for the part of Gretel anyway? There were plenty of girls who did a good tryout."

The teacher sighed. "You're right, you're right. And it's just that when you did your tryout for Hansel it seemed like you were about to lead Gretel into a battle or something like that rather than comforting her. But with Gretel... you didn't look helpless. You looked scared sure, but you also looked like you would fight those fears. You didn't seem completely dependent on Hansel and that is what I was looking for in a Gretel."

"That makes sense I guess, um thank you for the part." The halfa said, lacking better words.

"Sure. I'll make you an excuse for the next class okay?"

"Nice of you to arrive." Mr. Lancer said when the teen entered the class.

Without saying anything he handed him the excuse and sat down at his seat beaming.

"Okay what happened?" Valerie asked with a laugh, seeing his giddiness.

"I got the part!" the halfa whisper squealed.

"Great job Danny." Sam praised, smiling.

"Which one?" Tucker asked, giving him a fist bump

The older teen laughed a bit too loudly, earning a glare from the teacher.

"Gretel." The halfa whispered, a giggle in his voice.

"Seriously?" the techno geek asked flabbergasted.

"Yep the teacher said that I was perfect for the role." Danny said and no matter how much he tried he couldn't stop smiling.

"I didn't think you had it in you," the goth teased before getting serious. "But what about Dash?"

"Ooh right, I forgot about him. What are you going to do about him?" the techno geek asked.

"He's probably going to be messing with you because you got the 'female' role." The huntress agreed.

The halfa smiled. "Right now I couldn't care less about what he has to say. Besides, I'm pretty sure that he forgot that Gretel is the one who kills the witch."

Author's Notes:

Okay to clear some stuff up, no one has asked this yet but I'm gonna explain this anyway.

How a ghost baby is made: There are different types of ectoplasm; the kind that makes up ghost, the kind that makes up ghost lairs and free form (like the kind that hit Vlad in the face giving him ghost powers) So since are dead they can't 'reproduce, multiple, etc' the same way that living creatures do. Normal ghosts are dead people, but if two ghosts want to have a child then there's a procedure that they have to go through. They have to go to the observant to ask for permission, this is to ensure that the couple is not doing so for nefarious purposes and so that the ghost zone doesn't become to populated. After getting permission (the whole thing is basically the same as adopting a kid) One or both parents give some of their ectoplasm to the free form ectoplasm, so that the baby will have form and the parent(s)'s powers. This means that whether the couple is f/m, m/m or f/f they can have a child of their own.

In Box Lunch's case both of her parents gave their ectoplasm, hence why she has both of their powers and resembles both of them.

Ghost can bang or whatever, they just won't have a kid if they do so because once again, they are dead.

This was weird to talk about.

Hope this cleared that matter up, though I'm pretty sure I just ended up confusing the shit outta people ;-;

This whole thing sounded way better in my head.

Sorry that these ending notes where so long ;-;
