Chapter 24: September Air

Author's Notes:

I describe clothes too much ;-;

"What's cooking?" Dani asked plopping down on the chair across from her brother.

"Food." Their mom replied

"Ugh seriously?" the girl halfa banged her head on the table.

Danny laughed. "You asked."

A minute later Maddie put a plate of French toast, eggs and bacon in front of each of them. "Bacon! Totally called it!" Jack announced before digging in. The halfas laughed as their mom just sighed and facepalmed at his antics. They all ate in relative silence except for Dani saying over and over how excited she was.

"Got your backpack ready?" he asked as they put their empty plates in the sink.

"You know it! I've had it ready since two weeks ago!"

He laughed. "Meanwhile, I threw mine together two days ago."

They went upstairs, definitely not racing each other and got their packs; hers was plain purple, at least it had been before she (with the help of her brother) had sewn dozens of patches on it, added a silver chain and a skull keychain to it. His was a checkered green and black.

"Let's walk." He said as they descended the stairs.

"No," she said as if he had just suggested that they bathe in ectoplasm. "I wanna fly."

"And go to school with Mufasa hair?" he said quirking an eyebrow.

She pouted for about ten seconds before relenting. "Fine. After all, looking as awesome as we do has to come with some kind of price."

"Yep, no one said that looking fantabulous was easy."

"Did you just say fantabulous?" she asked laughing.

"Yeah, I couldn't decide between fantastic and fabulous so I smushed the two words together. It's like the word... oh I don't know, like the word sadorable."

"Geek. Bye Mom, Dad!" she called.

"Ooh, wait!" their mom called from the kitchen before rushing out with her camera.

"Seriously?" the older teen deadpanned.

"Yes seriously! I do this every year! Now pose." Their mom said smiling.

Danielle threw her arm around his shoulder laughing "Say cheese Danny."

He smiled and relented. "Okay, fine. Cheese." He said looking at the camera.

After about five flash filled retinae burning minutes, they exited the house. Their friends and them had agreed to meet up a block before school and then all walk together. The male halfa had expected his sister and him to be the first ones there but surprisingly they were the last ones.

"Okay, what alternate universe have a stepped into?" he teased as he approached his friends. "Tucker, you're actually fully awake before ten? Sam, I thought that you were a creature of the night. Val- eh you never sleep anyway so you being up this early isn't a surprise."

The goth girl took a sip of her coffee before smiling and replying. "Screw you." She was in a black shirt, with long flowy sleeves and laced up in the front with a purple ribbon. She also had on a Victorian style amethyst necklace with green gems (it had been a gift from tucker three years ago) black jeans and of course, combat boots.

Tucker looked the opposite of her with a loud yellow t-shirt that sported in equally loud green pixelated print the saying 'Gamers don't die we respawn', light blue jeans, a red knit cap and bright red sneakers.

Valerie had a purple humpty dumpty shirt, ripped blue jeans (Danny didn't think those were allowed), some gold colored bangles, black boots and was showing off her numerous ear piercings (he didn't think those were allowed either).

"Well you're charming today." He said to Sam laughing

"Aren't I? Besides, it's my parents' fault that I'm up this early." She said smiling

"Vaaaaaaall!" Dani yelled running to her girlfriend and giving her a hug that could be considered a tackle to most people.

"Hi babe." She said returning the hug.

"Danny was being mean, he called me 'ice princess'" she said pouting and giving her puppy dog eyes.

Valerie's face turned serious as she looked at Danny. "Daniel Fenton," her face broke out in a grin. "Thank you, you just gave me a new nickname for her."

"Happy to help." The older teen said

The ghost girl mock punched the huntress in the shoulder. "Meanie!" the halfa declared

"Aw, I'm sorry. I meant to say 'Bad Danny bad, I shall hunt you down later and avenge my beloved's damaged pride.'" Valerie said correcting herself

"That's better." She said happily, Valerie laughed and gave her a short kiss.

"So everybody got everything?" Tucker asked.

"Yeah, you got your electronics?" the male halfa said knowingly.

"You know it! I even have a few hidden in Sam's backpack!"

"What?" Sam accused

"Nothing!" The techno geek said in a rush.

"Let us be off!" the ghost girl declared jabbing a finger at the sky. "To the lost city of Atlantis or wherever the fuck."

The group laughed and started off towards the school, the brisk early September air making the walk particularly pleasant. They soon entered the building and were ignored for the most part, but Danny could hear a few murmured whispers regarding his sister. She was completely oblivious to it all though, taking in everything with wide eyes.

'Well of course she's acting like this, she doesn't know that as soon as you walk through those doors you're stuck with a label; whether it be jock, geek, target,' Her brother thought as he smiled at her with a mixed feeling of anxiousness and pride. 'I really want her to have a good time but you never know what could happen. I mean she's a tough girl but...people can be mean. No no, don't think like that, she might see how nervous I am and it could rub off on her. Just breath and relax, geez you would think that I was the newbie here instead of her.'

They went to the office and picked up their schedules and locker numbers, though they all had to stifle their laughter as the secretary did a double take between the half ghost siblings.

"Nice!" Danny said as he looked over at his friend's schedules. "We have three morning classes together and one in the afternoon."

"Why don't my classes match yours?" Dani pouted as they walked through the hallway in search of their lockers, which miraculously were all located next to one another, well according to the numbers at least.

"Because you're in a different grade than us." Tucker explained to her.

"Oh...but then when will I see you guys?"

"During lunch, don't worry Dani." Sam said.

"Yeah, and we'll hang out after school." The huntress said giving her girlfriend a side hug.

"Hmph, fine." The female halfa said, giving in and smiling.

"Found our lockers!" Danny declared, having to raise his voice a bit to be heard over the dull roar that all the people in the hallway produced; hundreds of small noises banding together to form a mess of sounds.

The older teens started piling their stuff into the lockers (they had decided that they would personalize them later) as Dani watched them curiously.

"Oh you put your stuff in here if you want to, like if you're only going to take your morning notebooks and some pencils, you would put the rest of your stuff here." Her brother explained

"I would recommend that you keep your backpack with you though, since it's your first day you never know what you might need. But if you have some comics or a phone or something I suggest that you put it here for safe keeping."

"I can Tuckerfy your locker later for a little extra security." The techno geek offered.

"Nothing beats Tucker's security systems.' Sam agreed.

"Haha! She admits it!" Tucker cheered

"Oh please, I just said it because it's true." She said rolling her eyes and crossing her arms.

"Still it's a win for me!" he argued.

Danny laughed at the couple's banter. 'Like an old married couple.' He thought.

"Hey Fenturd." He heard Dash call and sighed, waiting to be pulled up by his shirt.

Author's Notes:

The fantabulous/sadorable thing that Danny and Dani were talking about was an actually conversation I had with my friend XD had to include it
I HATE writing Dash, I hate him, but sadly he has to be in the story, so yeah.
I hate him though, he's a jerk.
Also, the reason why Jazz hasn't been mentioned yet was because she's in college. Kay?
