The Nightmare Realm
Run Dipstick run!
Stop distracting me!
They're gaining on us!
Well then you take over and run!
You said I couldn't!
Since when have you ever listened to me!?
I jumped and slid down the slippery tiles of a pitch black roof. Two of the five goons chasing me skidded on the tiles and fell to the cluttered streets below.
The nightmare realm had certainly not been what I had expected. It was an entire universe built up from nightmares. The place I was in now was like a medieval city, but from a Transylvanian Dracula Horror movie.
It was a long story. But basically I had gotten hungry. And had stolen some food from the market. But seeing as eating for demons was a privilege and not a necessity, I may have stolen a rare delicacy.
The bag of apples and bread under my arm would usually not be worth dying for. But I was really hungry.
I jumped from one roof to another and almost toppled backwards, catching onto a gargoyle head to stop my fall. The stone creature snarled at me and tried to bite my hand and I pulled away, keeping my balance on the roof.
Alright that's it! I am not dying for bread. Move over and we'll fly out.
We can't fly! The gas above will kill us!
Hold your breath.
With that Bill took over and pushed me into the back of our mind. All I could do was see through my eyes and hear through my ears with him as he controlled my body.
I had developed a terror of Flying nine months ago, almost directly after Bill and I had fused our souls accidentally. And so as Bill jumped into the air I closed our eyes and lost our balance.
"Dammit Pine tree! I need to see!" Bill yelled.
I hesitated before opening our eyes a little bit for Bill to see. He regained balance and went shooting off into the sky. The green poisonous gas that served as clouds enveloping us. Bill held our breath as he tried to fly through it. Our eyes began to water as the gas burned them. We needed to breathe. Finally we couldn't take it anymore. Bill let go and we went tumbling from the sky.
As soon as we were out of the gas clouds I gasped out in relief. Only to realize I was in control now. And falling to my death.
Before I could even open my mouth to scream. I passed the roofs. The buildings. Into the street. And landing in a cart full of hay.
I lay there. Gasping. Until a voice said. "Is this what you thought I meant when I said to lay low?"
I blinked. And a face loomed over me.
"P-Pyra?" I gasped.
Pyra, sister of Pyronica, who had been one of Bill's friends in Weirdmaggedon. She looked just like her, but more humanoid. And with blue flames. She crossed her arms and looked at me.
"Really Bill. This useless human body is making you look the fool."
Oh right. Quick Bill. Switch over!
With pleasure.
"Jeez. Relax Pyra. This body's got to eat." Bill said, patting the bag.
Pyra snorted. "A fact I hope to remedy. Get inside."
Bill lifted my head to find we were outside Pyra's apothecary. Well of all the luck...
The apothecary was empty, as usual, and Bill pulled out an apple and bit into it.
"Go upstairs quickly. Before anyone comes snooping." Pyra shooed us up the stairs.
We walked upstairs into the dark, dank room above the apothecary. Bill sat at a table and leant back. Sighing. "Well, another day Pine tree."
I don't think I like being here anymore.
"Well you know the rules. We can't go back to your Dimension until we're summoned."
I wish you had told me that before I agreed to come here.
"Well y'know Pine tree. You can't have everything in life."
I hate you.
"Aw. Don't be like that." Bill acted hurt.
Don't be so loud, or Pyra will hear us.
"Alright. Fine."
The Nightmare Realm was bizarre, sure. But to find out that Bill actually had friends was insane. The majority of them were missing of course. When Weirdmageddon had ended something had happened and they had all been sucked into a black hole or something of the type. But Bill had found Pyra, who he had basically extorted into helping us. Apparently, she owed him for getting her sister out of Time Prison.
But she didn't know that I existed. Humans were not exactly welcomed in the Nightmare Realm, so to make sure she wouldn't rat us out, because Humans were worth a hell of a lot of money out here, Bill made out that he was trapped in my body, but left out the part about the original owner still being here.
It was far from boring though here. Even if our lives were put in danger almost every day.
I spotted the three piglets in a cadge in the corner that Pyra sold to her richer customers. And then my mind thought back to Waddles, and then straight to Mabel. I wondered if she was alright. Or if Grunkle Stan and Ford had told the others about me after I ... Left...
Come on pine tree. Get it together!
I know but...
Its bad enough we had to leave. But do you have to pine away? We need to forget about her and move on. Find out what to do with our Immortality.
Immortality... I hated that word. It seemed to empty and endless.
That's what Immortality is, Dipstick.
I sighed and our control switched, me in charge. I summoned my new journal, which appeared in a woosh of blue flames, and began to write. My new journal was exactly like my old one, but with a number two in the center of the triangle. My second journal.
I had lost my old one back home, and items couldn't be summoned so easily across dimensional plains. So I began this one. It was almost fitting in a way. My first Journal was about earth. And my second was about the Nightmare Realm.
Still. I wonder where my old journal is, and who has it...
