Chapter 4

"Where was he," Beast Boy asked.

"He was in the alley," Starfire said. Raven took him gently with her magic.

"Come on," she said. "I need to heal his wounds." She carried Robin to his bedroom and set him on his bed. "Azrath metreone zinthos!" Raven said. One by one, Robin's wounds faded, and the blood faded from his arm. He didn't wake up though. Starfire frowned.

"Why isn't he the awake yet," she asked.

"He needs time to rest," Raven answered. "Let's leave him alone." The other Titans nodded and followed Raven out of the room. They walked to the living room and sat down on the couch.

"Why was Robin injured like that," Raven asked.

"I do not know," Starfire answered. The Titans were quiet. At least until Robin stumbled out into the living room. They all ran at him and hugged Robin.

"Why--"

"Where were--"

"When did--"

"Are--"

"Guys, guys, slow down," Robin said. "One at a time." The other Titans nodded and let go of Robin.

"Why don't we start with why Robin left like that," Cyborg suggested.

"Okay," Raven said. "That's a pretty good place to start." The other Titans looked at Robin expectantly.

"I couldn't sleep, so I left the tower to go fight some villains."

"Have you done that before?"

"Yeah, several times. It's usually just low level criminals."

"Then why did you come home with all of the injuries?"

"I ran into her again."

"That villain?"

"Yeah. That's not the strangest part, though." The other Titans exchanged looks with each other.

"What's the strangest part," Cyborg asked.

"Rose Wilson was with her. That's why my face was all scratched up." The other Titans nodded. The same thoughts filled their minds. Who was this strange new villain? Why was Rose with her? Wasn't Rose Raven's friend? Are they planning something?

Cyborg and Beast Boy looked at each other. "You guys wanna play video games," they asked. The other Titans shrugged.

"Sure," Starfire and Raven said. Robin shook his head.

"No, thanks," he said. "I'm gonna try to catch up on sleep."

"Okay, Dude. Just stay here, okay?" Cyborg said.

"Okay," Robin said, smiling a little. The other Titans watched him go. Starfire sighed unhappily.

"I wish Robin was the normal again," she said softly.

Robin laid down. The day had been tiring. He found he couldn't keep his eyes open a second longer. Soon, he was in dream land.

"No! Don't leave me here alone! Dick, please, take me with you," Lillian sobbed. Robin could only stare at her. Black curls touching her shoulders, wide, dark eyes staring at him with a mixture of trust and heartbreak, tearstained face. Robin reached out to her. Then she began to fade. Robin tried to scream, tried to save her, but he couldn't move, couldn't make a sound. Then she was gone.

Robin woke up with a start. Starfire was staring down at him. "What is wrong, Robin," she asked. "You were screaming and crying in the sleep." Robin burst into tears again and hugged Starfire tightly. He felt his arms around him, and he hugged her tighter.

Lillian Grayson walked swiftly through the city with Rose Wilson by her side. They had a run in with Robin getting information on their next recruit, but they took care of him. Not for good; Rose stopped Lillian before she could harm Robin anymore than they already had. "Why do you hate him so much, anyway," Rose had asked. Lillian hadn't answered. Instead, she had grabbed Rose's arm and transported her back to the attic. There, she had abandoned her helmet, traded her boots for sneakers, and put on a t shirt over her undershirt. Then they had left again.

They found their next recruit by a lake, throwing pebbles into the water. Lillian walked right up to the blond teenager. "Hello, Tara Markov."
